Consumer Complaint: I currently have a vehicle loan with M & T Bank for my 2012 XXXX XXXX. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, my autopay was kicked back and I missed 3 monthly payments. My car was repossessed and since the morning it was taken, I 've been trying to make a payment to get it back. First I was told that the bank had n't received confirmation of repo and they would call me when they did ; that call never came. I called to get a balance due, including repo fees and still they had no definitive balance. Again, I awaited a call back that never came. Since then, I have called more than 10 times in the last 3 days to no avail. Now the bank is claiming that they can not give me an amount until they have the title of the vehicle because they are the lien holder. I do not have the title, it was registered with the state of Florida upon purchase and the bank is in fact listed as the lien holder. My vehicle has been moved to an auction house and I have yet to get any solid information on how, when, or where I can get my vehicle. I have the money to pay but this is absolutely ridiculous. Every time I call, I get told I ca n't be given a payment amount because if I bring the account up to date, they have to return my vehicle and they do n't want to do that in fear that I may sell it and they lose their money. I 've had this vehicle for 4 years now with no intention on selling. I purchased it with my hard earned, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX paychecks and to be toyed with is absolutely embarrassing and disappointing. To add insult to injury, the late fees assessed by this bank exceed the past due amount and have been dragged from a previous late payment and increased each month. I also am expected to pay the storage fees for days my vehicle was at the repo facility because the bank failed to request the balance and relay it to me in a timely manner. This is outrageous and unsatisfactory.

Consumer Complaint: M & T Bank refuses to call me back regarding my request to modify my home mortgage and remove PMI. I 've followed their requests to pay for an appraisal of their choosing, and when the appraisal was completed I received an autonomous letter signed " Sincerely, Insurance Servicing ''. When I call the only number provided, there is no choice for the topic of my inquiry, and I have had to spend excessive time navigating the automated system that has no mechanism to direct me to a human M & T representative. When I go thru an option that is not why I 'm calling, I finally speak to a customer service rep who is not even allowed to provide me their complete name. They have no authority, they just put me on hold and eventually I speak to a person who just reads me back verbatim what is contained in the autonomous letters signed XXXX XXXX. When I ask to speak to someone in XXXX XXXX, I 've been told it 's not a department. I 've never felt less regarded for my business and my existence as a fellow human being. I 've been waiting two weeks now for someone with direct knowledge of the letter 's I 've received to call me back and discuss my account. M & T has no regard for me as a customer, and I would never recommend doing business with this bank.

Consumer Complaint: a certificate of deposit which I have left to automatically renew for over ten years recently went dormant. The only way I found out what happened was to ask the XXXX bank and trust why I did not receive the monthly statement. I think they should have notified me first. I understand there can be legal complications which arise from dormancy. Do n't think this should be allowed.

Consumer Complaint: I was debt free with a paid for house when I got married. My wife 's name never appeared on the deed to the house. Yet she fraudulently obtained a {$97000.00} loan from XXXX XXXX XXXX in 2007 by forging my name on the mortgage application. The notary seal is n't even on the same page as the signatures. I am currently making {$780.00} payments to M & T Bank. My wife took out several credit cards in my name and opened an account at a big box store. She also removed {$21000.00} from her XXXX retirement account without my required signature. In total she stole {$250000.00}. She was charged with identity theft and XXXX counts of credit card fraud. She pleaded guilty of identity theft and the other charges were dropped. In total she was ordered to pay me {$5000.00}. My divorce lawyer called me a liar concerning the mortgage fraud and continually told me to shut up and stop whining. I do not have the money for an appeal. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Grievance Commission of Michigan but I am not optimistic on that course of action. Recently M & T Bank contacted me to offer a reduced mortgage rate loan to lower the 7.75 % I am currently paying. Then they told me that they could n't give me a loan because my credit is so terrible.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX Bank held my mortgage note since XXXX. In XXXX they miss-handled my mortgage payments leading to a struggle to correct the situation. An agreement was reached in XXXX XXXX and a note modification was signed - with the first payment due on XXXX XXXX. The XXXX XXXX mortgage statement was wrong and included XXXX additional charges of {$120.00} attorney fee and {$20.00} inspection fee. I requested they be removed - and XXXX took the original statement and simply left them on the statement but changed the amount to pay to the correct amount. The XXXX XXXX statement had the correct amount due - but the XXXX items were left on the statement appearing to be paid. XXXX XXXX was acquired by M and T Bank - and M and T Bank send me a letter indicating I would have a new loan number. Included in that set of documents were a huge number of mistakes : the original amount of the loan was wrong - the rate was wrong - the maturity date was wrong - the amount due each month was wrong. I called customer service and they indicated it was wrong and would be corrected on my XXXX XXXX statement. They also indicated they would NOT send out correct information. I waited and waited and called the bank on XXXX XXXX as I never received my statement - but was told it would be mailed the week of XXXX XXXX. I never got it - so I went to a local branch to pay the mortgage on XXXX XXXX - but they closed early. I went back on XXXX XXXX and made the payment - but the branch had no access to either my old mortgage number or new mortgage number so they hand wrote everything. since I had a problem with checks in the past - I gave them cash. They had to create a Cashier 's Check payable to themselves and gave me a receipt. By the XXXX of XXXX I still did not receive the XXXX statement and called. Since the first XXXX payments took 9 and 11 days to pay - I wanted to see if the XXXX made XXXX was recorded - and it was not. I again inquired about the XXXX XXXX statement and was told that the statement was not mailed - so I requested XXXX. I received it about 6 days later - and once again it was wrong. It said that I had a past due amount for XXXX payment ( I made it on XXXX XXXX ) - the total was therefore XXXX payments not XXXX - the next rate change was wrong - the next date for adjusting payment was wrong - they did correct the attorney fee - an entry for debit and credit appeared - but they did not adjust the inspection fee. I called the bank again indicating what all was wrong - and they said they would correct the information and it would be reflected in the XXXX XXXX statement - which I have not yet received. In addition, I asked them what they reported to the credit bureau - was I late and did they report me as late. They could not answer that question. I told them I did not want to be reported as late since all payments were made on time - and I had a 10 day grace period to pay anyway - although the latest payment was on XXXX XXXX - XXXX day after due date - and the bank was closed when I tried to make it previously. Since the bank and I have had previous problems with payments and terms - I have elected to pay by cash and get receipts. I do believe I should get my statements on time - and be correct - and that I should not be penalized for errors made - almost typically on each and every document they produce.

Consumer Complaint: I am a customer of M & T Bank for my home mortgage since they purchased my mortgage in XXXX. I have always paid my mortgage payment online through M & TBank 's online system. In XXXX XXXX, M & T Bank unlawfully locked me out of my account, in spite of my repeated entries of my valid username and password. I was unable to make my payment on time and was unable to receive any help from M & T Bank customer service to make my payment on time. Now, M & T Bank is insisting I pay a late fee, as well as a fee to pay with a representative, because their own online and phone automated systems did not work correctly.
