Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I took out an auto loan with regular payments being made on time. As of XX/XX/XXXX I missed a few payments due to changes in my work hours. XX/XX/XXXX M & T Bank granted me an extension on my auto loan which took my two months that I was late and pushed them to the end of my contract agreement. Which in most if not all cases XXXX out those months and XXXX out any late fees that may have been calculated for those months. Well in my case they did not do that the company just added those fees to my next months bill. XX/XX/XXXX through to XX/XX/XXXX over {$1000.00} to get everything caught up to date. This company has attacked my credit score status stating that my account is delinquent and no payments are being made ruining my credit score. Their account system is very inaccurate 7 months out of my account are dated incorrectly. M & T Bank also claims that they are a debit collection agency which seems to be a conflict of interest if they are a bank. The harass you by calling multiple times a day within a week. It seems like no matter how much money I try to put on my account it does n't seem to get caught up to date. It also seems like no one knows the TRUE POLICY when a customer sends money in early. The also do not let you state where you wish your money to be sent or disbursed. I do not know how to attach copies of all my paperwork but I can mail it to you if want a copy. M & T Bank also makes it very hard for any other banks to buy out my loan they either do not answer the phone or they hang up on the bank that is trying to buy out from them.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2015 my property had some water and mold damage. While completing the repairs M & T bank refused to release funds in a timely manner to complete my repairs. First I was advised because I had mold damage I had to produce an estimate and paid receipt. I informed them that I did not have funds to pay the mold removal upfront hence why I needed the check. They advised me that an inspector had to come out. I stated that was not a problem. Inspector came and stated the work was completed with a XXXX % satisfaction ( this was for the mold mediation ). My insurance company issued additional funds to complete adding new, insulation, sheetrock, plaster, sanding and painting. The bank stated another inspection was needed to release funds. I advised that an inspection was just done and they stated another one was needed. Another inspector came out and stated that it was 90 % satisfaction. The bank still delayed on releasing the funds. They held the final insurance check for over a month before releasing the funds. Each encounter with an M & T rep I was told something different. When I finally had the check cut it was made out to both the contractor and myself and the local Branch refused to cash the check. I spoke to XXXX from their lost draft department, and she stated the bank rep called and was advised that the funds could be released. The bank rep XXXX stated the total opposite. As of XXXX/XXXX/2015 I have still not have not been able to cash the check. Until this point M & T bank issued all checks to me however, nowhere is these new processes published on their corporate website Mtb.com Consumers are at the mercy of which ever agent answer the call there is no consistency in procedures or communication from neither the loss draft department nor the branch to process the checks. During my encounter I have advise them of my frustration and inquired why has there been these change and the agents have not been able to explain. The local branches are not familiar with the new procedures, nor can they explain why the checks are being issued to both me and the contractor.

Consumer Complaint: Over the past few months M & T Bank has charged me over {$6000.00} in insufficient funds fees. They continued to process ACH debits after charging me stop payment fees stating that placing a " stop payment '' is a request and not a guarantee. They will not allow me to close the account or open a new one to stop these debits while the account has a negative balance. As soon as my direct deposit credits are posted, more fees are charged and my account returns to overdrawn status. It 's a horrible cycle that is costing me and my children everything we own. I would just like the insufficient funds fees refunded so we can try to save our home and car. I 've contacted M & T over a dozen times with no resolution.

Consumer Complaint: We have been banking with M & T Bank for many years. Recently, we have fallen into financial problems, and XXXX of the accounts became overdrawn. After contacting the bank, we agreed to take care of the matter within a month 's time. Imagine how devastated we were when M & T decided to just TAKE the money out of XXXX account and put it in the other account. Our paychecks disappeared, not once but XXXX. This has happened XXXX this month, and now there are NSF fees for the items we have on AutoPay that have come through and could not be stopped. We have attempted to speak with them, beg, plead, but they have been rude and judgmental, and basically we are being punished for struggling and not having enough money. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of situation, and we are considering getting a lawyer to recover the money that they took without notice or permission.

Consumer Complaint: I was talked into a commercial savings account and a personal checking account when I had large cash on deposit with M & T Bank. I was informed that I would make more interest earnings this way and that was the best suited for my needs. It turns out that the combination of accounts was best for the bank manager 's bottom line. The " fine print '' was truly fine print that I could not read with reading glasses, but learned over months that the bank did not care about me as a customer. When the cash dwindled, bank treatment of me as an individual also disappeared. Now I do not access to the " secured '' correspondence on their website to prove the agreement I had with a regional vice president that would have solved this entire complaint back in XXXX 2015. This high ranking bank officer would not answer my follow up correspondence, by being absent on the solution, the wrongful fees were turned over to an in-house collection employee in addition to listing me with a banking industry credit " bad list ''. I 've been banking with M & T for close to 50 years and NEVER got such bad treatment or this kind of threatening action that other financial institutions ( if not credit bureaus ) will deny me checking & savings accounts, when they see my name. I want M & T Bank to come back to the agreement reached by the Regional Vice President and me back in XXXX, remove the bank fees that are outlandish by nature of the types of accounts forced into, and the Bank being prohibited from listing me with that all credit bad lists. When evidence is shown that their employees misled me on the advice I sought for following the account rules, I should not have any charges fee against me on the multiple accounts. I would also request that some of bank employees be coached or reprimanded on their mis-information and their non-action on my requests to cancel ACH 's that seem to only benefit the receiving vendors.
