Consumer Complaint: We utilize Regions online Bill Pay, and made a payment to M & T Bank on XX/XX/2016 for an RV loan. In XXXX of 2016, Regions put the payment amount of {$670.00} back into our account because M & T bank never cashed the payment. We have not been able to get an answer from M & T Bank as to why they did not accept the payment. We did not catch the redeposit transaction until working up the taxes this year. We did not get any notice from M & T of a past due amount, and when I called to inquire, was told it was my fault because I did not notify them of an address change. However, I receive a monthly reminder through email that would constitute a point of contact, but M & T chose to ignore that, and churned the account with late fees. I contacted XXXX about my bill pay account to get documentation so that I could prove I made the payment, that is when I found out about the redeposit in XXXX. Because M & T did not cash the payment, XXXX could not provide the documentation, nor could they provide documentation of our checking account more than 6 months in arrears. They sent a letter to M & T Bank, which I believe M & T Bank ignored. The letter is attached. I MADE THE PAYMENT IN GOOD FAITH, but made the mistake of relying on the online banking system for documentation, which there really isn't any after 6 months. Please address this issue, I am a business owner, and about to change ALL my correspondence back to paper copies and forget online banking.

Consumer Complaint: I refinanced my home at closed escrow at the end of XX/XX/XXXX. My new mortgage lender paid my installment of taxes due as they needed proof that they were paid however my old mortgage lender M & T Bank had already dispersed the taxes due ; {$4200.00} to XXXX XXXX County. I have called several times since then to find out where my refund is and the first time spoke to a XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX who told me it would take about 30 days to receive it. Then I spoke to a XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX that told me they should be mailing it out by XX/XX/XXXX and also to a CSR named XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX that told me they should be sending it out in a week or so. Then I called again on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to a XXXX who told me that they verified that XXXX from XXXX XXXX County said that they refunded M & T the {$4200.00} for the taxes. NOW I am being told it may take up to 8 weeks to get a refund? This does not seem right as I paid off the loan successfully, paid on time and even sent them proof that my new lender paid the taxes as well via email on XX/XX/XXXX. Why send them proof when they are just going round and round. I just want my refund for my impound account sent back of {$4200.00} ASAP and I hope that I do not have to wait 8 weeks when my loan was paid off as mentioned XX/XX/XXXX and the taxes were paid in full as well for the XXXX installment. Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX we closed escrow on a new loan with a lower interest rate. The new mortgage company is XXXX XXXX. Our previous lender, M & T Bank, was paid off by XXXX XXXX with the closing of escrow. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, M & T debited another monthly payment of {$1300.00}. This was a normal payment amount on the original loan. I called M & T Bank on the same day, and they admitted it was an error and I would be refunded the full amount in 10 days, XX/XX/XXXX. ( ph XXXX I called M & T Bank today, to confirm the refund which I was expecting but never received. They said they are preparing our refund now, and we should receive a check by XX/XX/XXXX. This is creating a financial hardship. I gave M & T the permission to debit my checking account ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX, CA XXXX ) and they compromised our family financially through their incompetence. I am attaching documents reflecting the closing of the first loan ( settlement ) and payoff to M & T Bank effective XX/XX/XXXX. And debit from my checking on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I was a victim of theft and fraud on XX/XX/2018. Thieves stole my entire purse with a check book in my wallet. They then forged about 9 checks that cleared my bank account and robbed me of XXXX putting my bank account in insufficient funds. I put a hold on my checking and savings account. When I received the notices on my phone I called the bank immediately. Nobody could help me until XXXX my time. I even tried to stop payment randomly off of the check images to prevent them from going through. There were 5 checks in the amount of XXXX, 1 check for XXXX, 1 for XXXX, one for XXXX and 1 for XXXX. The checks were wrote out to two females names who forged all the checks and my signature. I have then received XXXX more notices that additional checks are possibly being cashed, not hitting my account since a freeze was issued. Are check cashing establishments just cashing these checks without asking for ID? They then tried to cash 7 more checks in significantly higher amounts. The amounts of the additional checks are, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. All three of my statements say these checks were returned and NSF. I am not sure if these thieves are getting the funds or not. They need to be caught since a significant amount of money is being stolen from me and my bank. I have called the bank many times, sent them surveillance of my theft and sent them my police report. I also submitted an affidavit to the bank, they provided to me. Currently this is being investigated by my bank, and they are holding my funds that were originally in my bank account which was only XXXX. They will not release the XXXX until all checks against my account have been disputed and that could take up to 120 days. I feel that the bank should not be holding my actual funds that were in my account, due to someone else 's fraudulent activity. I then opened up a new checking and savings account online, since there are no branches where I live. I opened them up, transferred some of my savings into my new savings. I received a letter stating that I would have to send them my SS card and utility bill to verify who I was. I thought I was waived of that since my SS card was stolen. I was not, I tried to set u p my bill pay and I could not due to I was getting errors messages online saying the account I was entering was invalid. I called the bank and evidently there was a hold on my new account. I then realized when I got married I had to send a copy of my SS card and marriage license to my previous part time company I worked at to verify my name change. I found the email, printed the PDF of my social, included my utility bill and faxed it 4 times to the verification dept for my bank. I then emailed it to the rep at my branch who is helping me with the fraud. She tried to reach out many times as well. I was able to get through and they then would not release the hold on my new account due to they wanted the police report faxed. I then had to go on my lunch break and get a copy of the police report. I faxed all the information again to the verification dept, emailed my branch rep. It took all day to remove the hold. Apparently nobody communicated in all the other departments that I was a victim of fraud as well. That does not make sense to me since I call the bank and they place the hold on my accounts and note the fraud. I was told collection would try to recover the XXXX dollars that was fraudulently taken since there were no notes on my account. Why should I have to pay back money that was stolen from me and my bank? I am the victim, I should say my bank and I are the victim. My branch rep has been very helpful, and supporting me as much as she can. I do understand the caution of the bank putting the hold on my new account, but why would I even open a new account with the same bank if I was committing fraud? I am a loyal customer and choose to be with my bank even though there are no branches where I live, or ATM 's. For the bank to try and hold my funds from me when I have bills to pay makes me angry, they did not make anything easy for me. The only one who helped me was my branch rep and she did as much as she could. Who know 's how many other checks the thieves will cash from my check book, as it was almost a new check book stock. They also have my SS card, address and other personal information that was in my purse. I really hope these people get caught and justice is served. I have been a member of my bank since the XXXX 's. I have never been a victim of fraud, or even had insufficient funds. I feel terribly violated and have lost my feeling of security. I hope 30 years in prison for forgery and theft is worth the crime for these thieves. I hope they are caught and can not hurt anyone else. I hope there are ways in the future to alert places that are able to cash checks that are reported stolen by the routing number. So when criminals try to cash checks on an account or routing number that is on hold for fraudulent activity the check cashing places are alerted and they can contact the police.

Consumer Complaint: 2 years ago we purchased a new build. We were told the mortgage payments would be approx {$1100.00} per month. For the 1st year, they came in around {$900.00} per month as they had not had our taxes assessed yet. The 2nd year they came in around {$900.00} per month as well. I contacted the county and they said that they had done the tax assessment on our new house. I assumed that maybe it was already included in our mortgage. Last week we just received a " Shortage Coupon '' from M & T Bank wanting us to pay almost {$5000.00} in back escrow payments for 1 year and a half of taxes that were assessed. They gave us the option of paying around {$1600.00} per month or paying the entire {$5000.00} up front. I called them and asked if I could work out a payment plan that was closer to $ 1200-1300 per month. They said I could not and recommended that if I could not make the payment, I should sell my house. I told them that it was their fault that they waited so long to make us pay the assessment. At the time of purchase, we were told it would take about a year. We have been in our house for around 2 and 1/2 years and just now got the increase. I will find a way to make the payments, but it will be a financial hardship. I don't have {$5000.00} lying around to pay them in full, and I new in a million years would have signed up for a {$1600.00} a month mortgage payment ( which is what is staring me in the face for this upcoming year ).

Consumer Complaint: I financed a motor home through M & T Bank and have made every payment!! The first thing I noticed with this lender 's business practices was how obsolete their installment loan department is ; they only have fax machines and a horrible computerized answering machine that takes forever to reach anyone, and they keep cutting you off. It generally takes 1 to 3 hours of phone waiting to discuss any issues with them. I have been on hold for over 45 minutes before. No online email presence unless they are selling you something or spamming you. It is very difficult for the consumer to communicate with the installment loan department. The second thing I noticed was even if the payment was made timely my records ), it appeared the payment would not be posted for several days resulting in late payment fees. Due to traveling around the country in a motor home, I did not find it financially feasible to correct these issues, which I really should have. Lately, I find the lender claims no payment was made in XX/XX/XXXX, which my online banking records indicate was paid ( discrepancy found researching tax records ). No notification was given to me, and late charge fees have been applied to this account since then ( without my knowledge ). Upon searching back for tax records, I discover the charges and contacted the lender 's installment loan department. I was rudely told that this was my fault because I did not update my phone number ( cell # ) and address, yet I received a email statement from them every month. I could have been notified through that email address instead of being pumped to open additional accounts! I have found ( with a magnifying glass ) the small print that states the late fees only after being informed of their location on the statement. In contacting them, I was informed that I needed to pay all the churned late fees as well as the missing payment I have already made once, and they would then check into it. In the forty plus years as a real estate appraiser observing the predatory practices of lenders, I have never seen a lender as unscrupulous as this one. Please advise as to what records you need from me to verify my claim. All of my bills are paid through XXXX 's bill pay, and those records are available for verification, but how much of it do you need? From XXXX to XXXX? Is there a way to be more specific, that's a lot of paper and a really big file to upload?
