Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, my vehicle was reposed from my home. The last payment made to GM Financial was on XX/XX/XXXX. GM Financial charged off my account as on XX/XX/XXXX and placed a note on my credit file that my vehicle was affected by a natural disaster ( XXXX ). I never received a letter for a right to cure, a phone call, nothing. I personally have been reaching out to GM Financial after I made my last payment to find an additional XXXX months have been added. I started my loan on XX/XX/XXXX. During years there were XXXX deferments, which I'm being told is XXXX payments. My loan end date was changed from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX which would include the XXXX payments. XXXX XXXX that is not correct. Even though my loan was extended by 8 months, I still have XXXX months of deferment payments to complete after the loan has ended which is a total of 16 months. I have sent several certified letters to resolve this matter and XXXX verified today that the letters were received but no one called me or the attorney to discuss the matter. There are several payments made where it applied XXXX payments to XXXX month and on XXXX there was XXXX payments made but only counted as XXXX payment. Now today GM Financial reps, compliance reps, and managers refused to allow a payment to be made so I can retrieve my vehicle and handle this matter legally.

Issue: Repossession
Subissue: Account reinstatement or redemption after repossession
Consumer Complaint: GM Financial recently established a payment arrangement with me, allowing a two-week window for me to come up with {$1100.00}. However, just one week later, I received an unexpected phone call. In my attempt to explain that they had previously made a payment arrangement with me, I felt a sense of confusion and frustration. Politely, I expressed my gratitude and ended the call. My journey with GM Financial began back in XX/XX/XXXX when I started to fall behind on my payments. The primary reason for my financial struggle is the loss of my job, a position I had held for over a decade. As a single mother, I faced the added hardship of being denied unemployment benefits and anxiously awaiting my appeal date, leaving me without any income since XX/XX/XXXX. Reflecting on these challenging times, I can't help but think back to the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in XXXX. If my financial hardships had occurred during that time, perhaps my vehicle wouldn't have been at risk of repossession. The underlying stress in my life was exacerbated by a painful divorce that was instigated during the pandemic. My ex-partner moved out on XX/XX/XXXX. Prior to my financial struggles, I had responsibly placed a significant {$15000.00} cash down payment on my car, consistently making on-time payments for 16 consecutive months before falling behind. Considering my investment of over {$25000.00} into this vehicle, which I've owned for nearly two years now ( with XX/XX/XXXX marking the two-year anniversary ), it's disheartening to realize that the remaining balance on my car loan stands at a staggering {$31000.00}. With a lien on the car due to that substantial down payment, the recent and abrupt repossession by a towing company, without proper lien verification at an intrusive hour of XXXXXXXX XXXX was both unexpected and unsettling. What compounds the situation is the lack of communication from GM Financial. Despite my repeated requests for necessary documents, I have not received any response or acknowledgment. Additionally, I haven't been informed about the possibility of retrieving my personal belongings from my now-repossessed vehicle. As a single, unemployed mother of XXXX, my XXXX daughter, who is a XXXX XXXX XXXX was recently deprived of her means of transportation. I had to take back my old XXXX to ensure I have a vehicle available for my family. My son, who is XXXX years old and has XXXX XXXX, relies on us for care and stability. In these trying circumstances, I am earnestly seeking understanding and support from GM Financial to navigate this challenging chapter in my life.

GM Financial failed to send the letter or advise me any information regarding the final sale of the vehicle but they updated my credit bureau with a balance.

Consumer Complaint: I had a GM Financial Loan since XXXX XXXX XXXX. I paid off the loan in the beginning of XXXX. Their app was messed up and gave me an inaccruate payoff amount which included an OVERPAYMENT of approximately {$18000.00}. I paid the " PAYOFF AMOUNT '' Which was {$17.00}, XXXX, then the following morning it showed a new " PAYOFF AMOUNT '' of ~ {$200.00}, which I paid. The loan has been paid AND there is a credit balance with a refund due to me of approx {$18000.00}. GM Financial is refusing to release the title.
