Consumer Complaint: I received advertising from American Express Credit card services, advertising perks, such as airline miles and FREE BAGS or up to 8 people in my party .... if I opened, or upgraded a card, and purchased a flight with that card. I did everything they asked : I upgraded my AMEX card, and was charged a pro-rated membership fee of {$26.00} ( from XXXX to XX/XX/2021 ) to do so. And paid that. And then purchased the tickets to fly from XXXX to XXXX with that card. And all passengers were on the same flight/manifest. Yet, when we went to check in for our flight, the booking agent said the ticket did not allow for free bags. Huh? So we paid for the bags ( using the AMEX DELTA card ) was were charged {$30.00} per bag. We had two bags, so total of {$60.00}. I figured that AMEX would see the error and credit us immediately. Instead, they refused to do so, and insisted that the only way to get he credit was to file a dispute with Delta XXXX. So now, we have paid {$26.00} for upgraded membership ( for the perks ) that we did not receive!. Plus {$60.00} for the bags ( for a total of {$86.00} ). I have tried to work with AMEX and spoken to several customer service reps and supervisors. I am astounded that they all insist that they can not reverse the charges, and that we have to re-open a dispute with Delta. Delta insists that these were excess bags ( even though they were neither too large, overweight, or a second bag ). Since Delta charged the bags as " excess '' ( even though this was incorrect ; these were the first bags, not excess bags ), they denied the dispute and Amex insists that we have to pay for the bags. And they will not refund the membership fee that I paid either, even though we never got the " perks " of membership that we expected ( free bags that I was promised ). Now they are charging me another {$99.00} to continue as a member. This is just wrong. If a customer has to fight hard to get a perk they expected to get for signing on for the card, then it is not worth it. Classic case of bait and switch. How many other people are they doing this to who just pay and don't complain, I wonder?

Consumer Complaint: I called a few times to American Express I had scheduled a payment for XX/XX/2021 and I called in on XX/XX/2021 to cancel the payment because there Would be no funds to cover it. I lost my job die to COVID and explained to American Express I applied for unemployment and the got the response back Im approved however there is a delay with the processing of it. In short they enrolled me in a financial relief program for all my cards and they have token out all necessary payments via auto pay which I have proof I am up to date and there was an error in there system I would like them to fix with my account.

Consumer Complaint: My American express serve card was stolen by my ex is on XX/XX/XXXX. I filed a police report against him for the theft of my card, along with my car and domestic XXXX, as he XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX and XXXX me in a hotel room i was XXXX to rent for 2 nights with my card before he XXXX me up. I called the company less than 36 hours after I was finally safe and got myself out of the situation. I sent a copy of the police report and their requested " declaration of fraud '' paperwork, along with every transaction he made while in possession of the card. Grand total is just under {$1000.00} and i got the email today stating they denied my dispute for all items. So now they're basically telling me I have to pay because i was beaten and robbed and he just gets off Scott free ...

Consumer Complaint: I canceled my American Platinum card over a year ago. Recently, I received a letter stating that I owed money on the card. I called American Express and they said it was taken care of and I wouldn't have any issues. I was also told that this was American Express ' fault and not my own. Flash forward a month and my current Gold card gets declined. I called American Express and they said the Platinum card issue was not resolved and, because my gold card was linked to my platinum card, it was declined in association. It was a Saturday and I was told it would be resolved first thing Monday. It was not. My husband tried calling Monday and was on the phone for 2 hours with no resolution. I called later that day and after 2 hours all they could do for me was let me temporarily use my card for 5 days while they worked to resolve the issue. I doubt it will be resolved by then and my card will be unusable again due to an issue on their end. When I asked for a refund for my yearly fee, I was told no. I asked to speak with a supervisor and no one was there. I was told I would receive a call from a supervisor within 24 hours and no call came. American Express is holding my card XXXX due to an issue on their end that is out of my control. They have been harassing me with continual pay up texts, emails and mail. They have wasted hours of me and my husband 's time. I have been with amex for 6 years and it has become apparent that they only care about your money and not you as a consumer hence why they refused to refund my yearly fee.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, I attempted to make a store purchase with my American Express Bluebird prepaid debit card and it was declined. I tried to check my balance with the Bluebird phone app and it wouldn't allow me to do so. Instead, a comment would pop up stating something about the username and password are not correct. ( I'm sending a photo of the statement. ) I then received an email from Bluebird stating that my account has been suspended for a violation of section " 22D '' and they provided a customer service XXXX number if I had any questions. A minute later I received another email was stating that a dispute was denied for purchases that were made from XXXX that I had called Bluebird about because they were fraudulent and were supposed to be investigated. Apparently, charges in the amount of {$510.00} were made on XXXX with a XXXX XXXX that I had I had used before and was canceled due to receiving a new one. When the XXXX card did work, XXXX charged my Bluebird card for the purchase. I explain the matter to Bluebird and they told me that it would be taken care of. After receiving the emails, I called the number that was given for customer service. They stated that the explanation for the suspension is in the email but the email states to call customer service. When I requested the balance in my suspended account they told me that I would have to mail them a letter requested my balance. I have not received any more help and they refuse to take my calls asking for an explanation.
