Issue: Trouble using the card
Subissue: Trouble using the card to spend money in a store or online
Consumer Complaint: Hello there, My Boss gave me an American Express pre-paid gift card with {$250.00} for XXXX on XXXX. The cost of the card on top of that was {$6.00}. After multiple attempts at using the card both online and In-store, after taking advice from an internet forum had thousands of comments about the same thing, the card will not register or work. I have called the support line 3 times now and have been told to wait two days to use the card, then I was told that their team would be looking into it, now I am being told that I am not using it where Amex is accepted ( which is not true XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX etc wont even register the card ). Then I was told I was charging TOO much to the card and I had to account for 10 % of a pre-authorized amount to be deducted.. so I tried to use only {$230.00} dollars of it.. to no avail ... PLUS in the times I have tried to use it, it has now deducted money off the card as a pre-authorization when I wasn't able to buy anything all all. Now, it is a security issue. But, they do not allow me to register my address for the card as it is un-reloadable. Not only is AMEX making it quite literally impossible to access the money put onto the card by my boss, which is stealing, effectively, but now charging pre-authorization amounts when it wont even go through- stealing, again. There are multiple threads about this exact same issue online and I believe that this could be a class-action law suit. They will not send me a new card, they will not refund my boss, they will not tell me how I can get the money from the card and their answers are vague and unhelpful. I would like to request they give me the gift card amount PLUS 20 % for the mere inconvenience of trying more than ten times to use this, wasting my time and energy and resulting in embarrassment multiple times when checking out of physical stores. This is absolutely wild and I would love some help! Thank you!

Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: Attention Amex Investors Relations and Legal Department : I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention certain aspects related to the electronic chattel paper associated with my credit card application I originally issued to you on XX/XX/2020 for a Amex Blue Cash Everyday credit card which, based on my understanding, has been transferred into your Trust, American Express Credit Account Master Trust, via your Depositor and Transferor : American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and/or Servicer : American Express Travel Related Services Company , Inc. , and subsequently became a trust asset and trust property. As a diligent investor and beneficiary with beneficial interest, I have conducted a thorough review of the information available in your 424B5 prospectus filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission and your Trust Indenture Agreement with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. It is my understanding that, as the trustee overseeing the Trust, whether it be American Express Company, Travel Related Services ( " TRS '' ) or any other of your affiliate ( s ), you have a fiduciary duty to perform in good faith, with honor and clean hands. I am writing to assert my rights as an investor and beneficiary with beneficial interest based on the provisions outlined in the aforementioned legal documents. Asset-backed securities, as delineated in the prospectus, are a form of investment collateralized by a pool of assets. These assets typically generate cash flow from various sources, including loans, leases, or credit card balances. Given that I am an investor and beneficiary in the Trust, I believe I am entitled to claim and redeem my rights, titles, and interest based on the fiduciary performance of the Trust and Trustee. I kindly request that you provide me with detailed information regarding the status of my credit card application within the Trust, including any relevant documentation that supports the electronic chattel paper 's transition into a trust asset. Additionally, I seek clarification on how I may exercise my rights as an investor and beneficiary, as stipulated by the fiduciary duties outlined in the prospectus and the Trust Indenture Agreement. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to receiving the requested information within a reasonable timeframe. Should you require any additional documentation or information from my end, please do not hesitate to contact me via the contact information you have on file. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. I trust, no pun intended, that, in adhering to your fiduciary duties, you will provide the necessary transparency and assistance to address and rectify my concerns.

Consumer Complaint: American Express offers Amex Offers wherein customers can save a certain amount of money for meeting certain spending thresholds. You must add these to your card before making the purchase to be eligible. Prior to purchase, I added an offer for XXXX XXXX XXXX to my Amex Business Plus card ending in XXXX where if I spend {$350.00} by XX/XX/2023, I would receive a {$75.00} statement credit back. This was eligible for rentals within the US and US territories and I had a purchase of {$570.00} which appears on my credit card statement for my card ending in XXXX as " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX' for a rental I made there. This transaction posted by the deadline of XX/XX/2023. I contacted Amex and they are refusing to honor this term as they claim it did not meet the requirements, despite everything showing that it does. I contacted them on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX to resolve this matter short of filing this complaint and they have refused to honor their own terms. This is consumer fraud and clear bait and switch as I never would have used this card for this purchase was it not for the statement credit.

Issue: Trouble using the card
Subissue: Trouble using the card to pay a bill
Consumer Complaint: I paid 2 utility bills, XXXX and XXXX, in XXXX using an AmEx gift card. Tried to do again in XXXX and both declined, over and over again. Have spoken with both XXXX and XXXX and neither understand why declined- no issues on their end. Have called AmEx gift card customer service multiple times and can't get a straight answer, and always from someone in another country. Last attempt asked for supervisor, was transferred and told speaking with super. He spoke very broken XXXX. Couldn't get acceptable answer from him. When I asked him what security issues I'm missing, he wouldn't tell me. I had tried both vendors online and was declined. When speaking with the vendors, they tried to input info manually and still declined. No one can tell me why it worked in XXXX but not in XXXX. I asked the last AmEx gift card person I spoke with to transfer me to a supervisor in the US and he wouldn't I was told there was no one available. At that point, I have to admit, I responded to him in a not very polite manor. My card was a " 10 year anniversary '' gift from my company for being there 10 years. What's the point if I can't us it the way I want to. Worthless. They got $ from the boss for 6 of these 10 yr anniversary cards and in actuality they are worthless.

Consumer Complaint: CFPB Ref No : XXXX Ref : XXXX Account Ending in XXXX On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from XXXX XXXX with American Express informing me that my disputed charge of {$960.00} to Home Depot was re-billed to my account. In the letter, XXXX XXXX did not acknowledge my certified letter which was received on XX/XX/XXXX by American Express ; however XXXX XXXX did explain that American Express would be able to re-dispute the charge if I provided them with communication I had with the merchant showing that I attempted a return. In XXXX XXXX 's letter, he specifically requested that I provide him with my communication sent to the merchant on XX/XX/XXXX- which was the same date that the incorrect XXXX was installed in our condo and the first date I have written communication with the merchant. I am attaching my XX/XX/XXXX email message with attached photos which was sent to the merchant 's XXXX customer service department and received by the merchant. I am also attaching XXXX XXXX 's letter of XX/XX/XXXX. I kindly ask that American Express re-open this dispute as I have provided extensive written and photographic evidence that I did not receive the item I purchased from the merchant and contacted the merchant IN WRITING on the very same day I received the INCORRECT item - XX/XX/XXXX. The merchant REFUSED to pick up the incorrect item and re-deliver the item I purchased. I will be following up on this investigation with certified letters to both the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as well as American Express. Thank you, XXXX XXXX
