Consumer Complaint: PayPal closed my account for just a reason that my money sent to me is from gambling, fraud or anything as they said and they hold my money for 180 days, which is for me is not reasonable. I am not sure if this is some mistake as I assume it has to be. I have not been able to get help from them for months but I just remembered I could file a report on here as I feel they are not doing their job properly and it is affecting me a great deal as I used PayPal quite frequently. As I have explained already in past phone calls and my previous complaint to the CFPB, on XX/XX/2021, I recieved and email from PayPal, stating that I could no longer use their services, I will attach this email bellow. As I have explained already, I have not done anything wrong and I have not been given any explanations as of why this happened, the previous response I got from PayPal said the following, ridiculous and insulting message ; It is important to note that this complaint was not submitted on your behalf but on behalf of another PayPal account holder. Due to PayPal 's strict Privacy Statement, we are only able to address account information with the account owner. As a result, we can not divulge account details to you regarding an account that is not in your name. I will also upload a photo of my ID to prove that I am XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and not as you are claiming " another PayPal account holder ''. PayPal have provided me with an awful costumer support service, after calling and contacting them multiple times, they were time and time again, unable to fix the issue they caused and still have not given me back the control of my account. Bellow you will find a photo of my XXXX ID, the previous email I got from paypal, which was totally wrong in everything they stated and helped me in no way and the emails I got from paypal regarding my account. Consumer Complaint: This is a complaint against Paypal, for it's failure to protect customers from being charged by unauthorized transaction. Here is the story : I started my free trial on an audiobook app in XX/XX/XXXX. To start my free trial, I had to link my Paypal account with the app membership so that the merchant could charge me if I wanted to renew my membership after the free trial ended. However, by using the app for several days, I decided to cancel my free trial and not renew my membership any longer. Thus, there should be no charge on my Paypal account at all. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, I found I was charged by the merchant for a full year membership renewal. I immediately reached out to Paypal to dispute this transaction and checked 'automatic payment ' on Paypal and found the status of the automatic payment was 'Inactive '. One day later, Paypal responded and said it was not an unauthorized transaction. So they wouldn't protect me from this issue and help me get my money back. Meanwhile, they requested me to review my active automatic payment more carefully going forward. However, I don't agree with Paypal 's investigation result : 1. The transaction is definitely an unauthorized charge. As I canceled my free trial, my agreement with the merchant to charge me by Paypal should be terminated immediately. Any charge after the cancellation should be identified as 'unauthorized '. 2. I have already reached out to the merchant, but it didn't respond. If Paypal passes the buck to the merchant, as a customer, I can do nothing if the merchant refuses to resolve the issue. In this case, Paypal fails to protect its customers as promised. 3. The status of the automatic payment by the merchant was inactive when the charge occurred. How come could Paypal allow an inactive charge happened? If Paypal treats this type of unauthorized transactions legit, then customers will be under tremendous risks when they subscribe to any services. Because, if merchants continue charging customers after customers request subscription cancellation and refuse to respond customers, customers can find nobody to protect them. Thanks, XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I attempted to purchase a {$40.00} XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX thru pay pal- they did not disclose the shipping amount at checkout. then they charged my account over $ XXXXUS for shipping of this item from XXXX XXXX charge was in Pounds.- So I immediately contacted Pay Pal and submitted a case for fraudulent charges Case # XXXX, they denied the claim and then I submitted an appeal saying you can not charge people for an undisclosed shipping amount its illegal. I also put a stop payment thru my bank account to make sure I did not pay the financial crippling charge for shipping the item. The bank did return the draft and now PayPal is saying that I owe them the money- I contacted pay pal again today and explained the situation and told them I had done everything I should have by immediately alerting them to the situation and alerting the company. They stated XXXX they don't care they want the money. Consumer Complaint: I received XXXX XXXX amounting to {$12000.00} for my XXXX benefits from the XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX that were deposited into my PayPal Cash Plus account. Immediately, PayPal restricted my account stating that they needed more information. Out of everything, I was not able to provide a state I.D due to issues I ran into from the XXXX, however I did send multiple proofs of my identity and letters that I received from the XXXX. A representative from PayPal told me that everything would be fine and they'd permanently close my account and hold my funds for 180 days, after which I would receive an email with instructions to withdraw. 180 days passed on XX/XX/XXXX and I did not receive an email from them with instructions to withdraw. I called multiple times and multiple representatives gave me different reasonings, but all said that my funds are being withheld for another 180 days. They didn't state why my funds were being held again, and those representatives told me that they'd call back with a solution but I never heard back. 180 days passed again today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and I never received an email with instructions to withdraw once again. So I called and was told that my account was flagged and that I could not withdraw my funds until further notice. When I asked for the reasoning as to why they weren't releasing my benefits I received from the XXXX, I was told that I would have to subpoena them in order to find out why. I've read every word of their TOS and nowhere does it state that they're allowed to hold my funds for this long, let alone permanently. Especially since I didn't do anything that would condone any of this.

Consumer Complaint: PayPal randomly closed my account for without explanting why, other than claiming I violated their Terms of Service, which is absolutely false. Everything was fine until a transaction was sent to me by a life long friend and I received an email from PayPal saying I could no longer use their services. Believe me, I have tried for literal months to get things resolved and they not a single employee ( if I'm lucky enough to get to a real person instead of a support bot ) will not help me with getting it back up and going. I reread the. I was thrilled when I remembered I could file a report on this amazing platform since they are not doing their job properly and it is effecting me a great deal as I used PayPal quite frequently. I don't want to rant my whole overall opinion on how PayPal runs their company, but stuff like this happens on a regular basis and it is absolutely absurd. Almost 90 % of the funds to my name are locked in PayPal, and I don't have time to wait 180 days like they want me to do.
