Consumer Complaint: I have tried to close my paypal account for over a week now as I no longer agree with their business practices. I tried online on multiple occasions I have called and spoken to representatives XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. They have told every time Paypal is having technical issues closing accounts but it should be resolved in XXXX to XXXX hours. I have been told the have made me a priority. I have messaged the chat agents and get the same song and dance. I feel like I am being held hostage. I have nothing outstanding on my end. I no longer agree with the terms of service and want my account closed. There is many many people having the same issue and being told the same things Ive read on social media. I just want this taken care of.

XX/XX/2022 I contacted them after exhausting all other options through their website and app. After going back and forth with their rep I was told there were technical issues preventing them from closing the account and would be emailed shortly when they resolve the issue. Contacted them again about closing the account on XX/XX/2022 and spoke briefly with a rep who after a short while transferred me to their concerned department, who then promptly told me Im the victim of an update that is preventing them from closing my account. This is clearly their way of slowing the flood of people who wish to boycott their company and protect their reportable account numbers.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2022 I received a noticed from my bank that there was a pull from my checking account from PayPal for {$0.00}. On investigation, there was a charge from PayPal from a reoccurring basis from XXXX for 4 separate requests. I deleted all 4 on the PayPal website, but I did not authorize any of these activities as I have ( other than email ) no existing relationship with XXXX. I reported this to PayPal, and requested to immediately close the account and was told that they couldn't do that as they were researching the charge in question and was still waiting to receive payment from my bank account for the charge. I received a reply that they did the research and it was NOT an unauthorized charge and was consistent with my recent activity, but that is impossible as I have never had any activity with that company, and nothing anywhere near that dollar amount.
