Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: Since I was a graduate I have had trouble paying my loan. The company has since sold my account to another servicer who was subsequently sued for the practice as follows : instead of offering me any income based repayment options while struggling, they pushed me into deferment and forbearance until my loan is no longer manageable. The minimum due every month is five times what I was originally told my payment would be after graduating. While the company has settled in court to forgive the private loans it held for ther students, they told me my loan [ ffelp ] was ineligible as it was a " govt loan '' not " private. '' As recently as today they pushed me into another forbearance and told me unless I consolidate into a " direct loan '' there is no other option for me. I can't do it! My loan is over twice it's original amount and I see no way out of this unbearable weight.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I was told by my university I had to take out XXXX XXXX loans in order to attend classes there- and I received these loans between XXXX and XXXX. Upon graduating, on the phone, Navient advised that I sign up for forbearance. At no time was income-based or income driven ever discussed as an option. Navient did not at any point explain that was an option for me. For over XXXX years, Navient has advised me to stay in forbearance, that no other options were available. Had Navient given me correct information, I would have been making payments on my loans for XXXX years already, and I wouldve been over halfway done to the 20 year income-based forgiveness program. Navient has stolen that opportunity away from me. Now, I only began making payments in XXXX. When my loans were taken out in XXXX to XXXX! Apparently Im not included in the Navient lawsuit, because I never defaulted. But, how can I default on a loan when Navient has made sure that I stayed in forbearance? For over 8 years!

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I have 6 loans with Navient I am only able to pay three. The other three I have offered XXXX for each as a good faith effort but they tell I need XXXX. Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have a federal loan from back in XXXX. After I graduated it was through Sallie Mae. Eventually it was consolidated and ended up with Navient. I've been paying them and in and out of deferment over the last 10 years or so. I am a single mom with a very low income and when I heard that we would have a chance of having loans forgiven I was so happy. In XXXX of XXXX I called Navient to find out what I needed to do so I could be eligible for the loan forgiveness. They told me my loans had to be consolidated but that I had already done that when I was with Sallie Mae so I didn't need to do anything else. I believe them, because they should understand this, not me. So I waited. And waited. I just found out this week when I called Navient back again that I was supposed to have consolidated my loan somewhere else, but they said it was too late, the cut off was XX/XX/XXXX. I was sick to my stomach. I couldn't believe that they had told me I was going to be eligible back in XXXX and I didn't need to do anything else, only now to to tell me, it's too late, you can't do it anymore. I was so very upset. I believe this loan forgiveness incentive was really targeted for struggling people like me. I have XXXX son about to start college and i'm not even student loan free myself. I really need someone to help me. Please tell me there is a way that I can still be eligible for this.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: Over last several weeks I have started to get phone calls from Navient over my student loans. They demand repayment they state that I have gotten information that has never came to me. Their customer service will tell me one thing then I find out week later when they call back up asking for money that what their customer service has told me has not gotten done. Then their story changes on the loan within two hours of me calling them back to get the dispute resolved. One day my loan is in forbarace for a year two weeks later phone calls come stating I owe them money again. Keep asking for transcripts of the calls and all call logs that their company has placed to me so that I can have them for records of customer service telling me one thing them doing the complete opposite of it. If their customer service was a legit thing and provided me or had the abitity to play them so that disputes could be resolved but their company refuses to provide them with out a sopina from the court. I am now having to look at that to get this dispute done. For the last two years I have repeatly been lied to about information over my student loans. I have papers work stating I took a loan with sallie mae and never anything to do with navient. They say I was notified but I never revieced any information untilll their reps started harrassing me. Everytime I have tried to call them we talk I am escolated to another person then another happens every time the calls are done. After the third person the calls go nowhere I say I am geting call backs but they never come. I am told that things are taken care find out once the phone calls start a week later what the customer service has told me is false and nothing is done. towards my loan except for them lieing to me. Half the time I can't even get someone on the phone that knows enough english to even handle anything. I have been mislead harrassed lied to and shown some of the most unprofessional unethical I have ever had when dealing with any company. I am now having to currently work on getting a supena for the calls and transcripts. Aling with having to take legal action against them for what they have practiced in thier businsss

Issue: False statements or representation

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount

Consumer Complaint: Navient, XXXX XXXX and XXXX were all harassing me while making the minimal payment. I found a company that said they could consolidate my debt and after paying them off I would be in the clear. I paid off the consolidation company back in 2017 and I am still receiving correspondence claiming that I still owe money.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient took way more money out of my account than authorized and never issued my refund. I have been constantly calling them and sending them my bank statements to get this resolved, however they continuously give me the run around and each rep provides me with different information and different steps to take. I have submitted bank statements twice that reflect I have never received the refund. I believe they are engaging in unfair and deceptive business practices.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I called Navient about 6 or more weeks ago to get information about my loan for the loan forgiveness application with XXXX. I let them know I was applying for school loan forgiveness with XXXX. I continued making my payments. My last payment made was in XXXX. When I went on their site in earlier XXXX ( this month ) to make a payment their site showed a XXXX balance and that my loan was being transferred to XXXX. So then I went on to set up a login with XXXX but it had no payment listed for me yet. Just last week i received an email from Navient saying that my loan was updated and that my first payment will be due in XXXX. When I went further on their site today I saw that they have me in a forbearance. I never asked for a forbearance and never approved XXXX. Now there is no Navient phone number listed on their website and I could not find it this time looking it up. I sent them an email on their own site. A forbearance could hurt my chances of loan forgiveness with XXXX and now I owe 9 something more dollars a month on my loan payments according to Navient starting in XXXX. I also dont understand why Navient didnt consider me for their own loan forgiveness since I have been paying this loan since XXXX originally with my XXXX XXXX and from XXXX with my XXXX XXXX. Please tell me what happened because I never wanted a forbearance!

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days

Consumer Complaint: When I filed a dispute with Navient, they sent me a letter back on XX/XX/2021 stating that they needed additional information from me to verify my loan with them. The loans are closed and should not be on my credit report at all. I included the amounts in the dispute letter to them and my information and it is still on my credit report. They stated that my letter was considered frivolous and irrelevant under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient sent false information on XX/XX/XXXX, regarding a notice to re-certify ( XXXX ) plan. In which they stated that a payment is due next month by XX/XX/XXXX. However, the email was a reminder notice to re-certify the ( XXXX ) plan by the end of the month. The federal student loan forgiveness program under Biden 's plan has made it clear that a payment pause has been suspended ( from XX/XX/XXXX, through XXXX XXXX, XXXX ). The federal payment pause is officially scheduled to end and will resume on XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX student loan servicers should begin reaching out to borrowers with remaining loan balances to remind them that their payments will be restarting in XXXX. Navient practices are predatory and are not compliant under Biden administrations program. I'm asking for Navient to cease all predatory practices and comply with the deadlines. Because of this violation I'm asking for an extension on the ( XXXX ) plan.
