Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I called Navient on XX/XX/2023 to see if I can get it for parents from my private student loan because I'm unemployed. An incompetent agent incorrectly told me that my loan was in some sort of lawsuit and I didn't know any money at the time. So month later I start getting the harassing emails and robo calls. Then I get charged a late fee. Navient posted a reply on this site and saying that the agent gave me misinformation but yet I'm liable? This company is a fraud. I will be calling them because they need to give me back my late fee and take back any threats to report me to credit agency because this is their fault. They admit to have incompetent people working there they give me wrong information. Everything they say on the phone to me is recorded so they can not deny it. See photo attachment to this complaint.

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: Navient charges me late fees even though I am on a IBR program and have been for years. Every time I pay their " late fees '' they repopulate and I have to pay more. The " late fees '' are more than my repayment plan. I have pushed and pushed and they continue to charge the so called late fees no matter how many times I pay them. My IBR payments are due on or before the XXXX of the month. I have made three payments to them this month and more and more fees generate. They say they are justified and I can do nothing to stop them from taking advantage of me and draining my financial situation until I have no money to even buy groceries. This is exhausting mentally and financially. I should not have to choose between feeding my family and paying back loans that were taken to better my life. The degree was worthless from XXXX and Sally Mae ( Navient ) pushed me into forbearance instead of better options. My loans are three times the amount I actually took out. Please stop them from charging these ridiculous fees. Thanks.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a complaint against Navient to the XXXX for continuously reapplying an old closed account to my credit report for over 10 years. Navient sends me a new bullying email using info from my XXXX complaint. I emailed the XXXX about my concern that Navient was not using the arbitration steps required for this complaint process. The XXXX closed my account and listed my failure to respond as the cause. The XXXX only sent me XXXX emails, the first to open the account and the second to close the complaint, see the attached documents.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have hit a brick wall with Navient. I sent an email to Navient on or about early XXXX, 2023 requesting a refund of payments that I made during the the XXXX pause, totaling {$16000.00}. The first response I received from them was XX/XX/2023, which was from XXXX XXXX, XXXX customer Advocate. The letter explained that they needed time to look into the matter. On XXXX XXXX I received another letter from same person explaining why my request could not be granted ; basically explaining that my loan did not fall under the Cares Act, which is why the payments continued to be deducted from my bank account, and the interest continued to accrue. These people are heartless and should never be allowed to service another student loan. I even had to enter a code in order to receive/open the letter. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Please look into this matter, and help me to get my Covid pause payments refunded. Thank you XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: Navient has closed the following XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, & XXXX. Navient illegally and unethically charged subprime interest rates on Private Student Loans, Collected on Private Student Loans after bankruptcy XXXX XXXX entered in XX/XX/2015 and Discharged on XX/XX/2015. They lied about forbearance and also about removal of US Veteran co-signer. They said I had to pay on these Private Student Loans even after XXXX XXXX. I opened complaints with the XXXX, Fl. Atty General, and PA attorney general, about what the CFPB has ordered Navient to do per the following : " CFPB examiners have apparently uncovered that certain loan servicers have been unlawfully sending discharged loans back to collections after bankruptcy courts had discharged them. The CFPB is directing these loan servicers to return any payments that were illegally collected from consumers and immediately stop using these illegal collection tactics '' I paid on the 2 loans exorbitant interest rates and would never see the end of the loans because Navient continued to adjust the subprime rates on the 2 Private Loans, seeing no end in sight to these Private Student Loans, and after my 3 year bought with XXXX and procedures, I had to enter into XXXX XXXX hoping to get a fresh start, yet these people continued to call and pressure me while I was trying to recover from my procedures and financially after XXXX XXXX. They close the complaints without even looking at these deeming these Duplicates. As per the CFPB order NAVIENT must return any payments that were collected after XXXX XXXX Discharge. I am once again attaching evidence of their subprime interest on these loans whose origination amount were nothing compared to the interest and fees they placed on these loans. Navient as per the CFPB needs to return all funds collected post Bankruptcy filing. Once again I am attaching all documentation on the 7th complaint I make on this. This was also referred to the XXXX, the Attorney General for PA and FL, and sent to those in process of the pending class action. Navient collected these funds illegally and closing this as duplicate without a resolution is unethical and illegal since they owe me these monies.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: Navient is the loan servicer. I have repeatedly informed them of their daily multiple annoying calls using several different numbers. They have continued to call when the account is up to date and next payment is not due for a few weeks. I have asked them to communicate with me via email only and they stated I had to go their cease and desist procedure which is supposed to be on their website, however, I never found it. They call me all day a minimum of 6 or more times every day for a payment that is less than {$100.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I am the private student loan holder, XXXX XXXX and my dad is XXXX XXXX. He cosigned about 23 years ago and since then I've graduated with a bachelor 's and have made consecutive payments for over a year. Furthermore, my father filed for bankruptcy and they are suppose to leave him alone. The reason I'm filing a complaint is because I lost my job in XX/XX/2023 but still carried on paying the {$100.00} a month. It became too much to pay by XX/XX/2023 soni called Navient customer service at the end of XXXX requesting a temporary forbearance. The agent I spoke with told me that I'm not required to make payments on that loan right now due to a legal issue going on. They didn't tell me much but I assumed it was due to my dad 's bankruptcy. So I didn't make my XXXX payment under the assumption that I was not required to. My dad calls me yesterday to let me know that Navient has been hassling him with robocalls several times a day. Unless Navient lied to me, then I'm not liable and I'd like them to stop calling my dad 's house ASAP. I'm not able to call them at the moment but I did email them to let them know with no response.
