Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Since XXXX in XXXX, despite representing that Navient would help find the best repayment options me, Navient steered me into costly long-term forbearances instead of counseling me about the benefits of more affordable income-driven repayment plans. I was also a victim of predatory lending from XXXX XXXX. Interest that accrued because of Navients forbearance steering practices was added to my loan balances, Doubling the total amount due from XXXX to XXXX, pushing me further in debt. Had the company instead provided me with the help it promised, income-driven repayment plans could have potentially reduced my payments to as low as {$0.00} per month, provided interest subsidies, and/or helped attain forgiveness of any remaining balance after 20-25 years of qualifying payments. It's been 15 years and there is no dent in my student loans what so ever. In addition, XXXX XXXX, now Navient made predatory subprime loans to me and other students attending for-profit schools and colleges with low graduation rates even though it knew that borrowers would be unable to repay the loans. Navient made these risky private loans as an inducement to get schools and colleges to use Navient as a preferred lender for highly profitable federal loans. I was a victim and now I am forever in debt.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I currently have 2 private loans with navient. One is cosigned by my mother who is currently retired and another larger loan is cosigned by my sister. I have requested that navient lower the amount that I pay monthly due to decreased pay rate and increased cost of living. navient lowered the loan under my mother 's name because she has no income, but due to my sister 's income they refused to lower that loan, instead asking me to have her help me make payments. My sister has XXXX children of her own and her own student loans, she can not assist me with these payments. I am willing to make reasonable payments however my private student loans toke up a 1/4 of my income and soon will take up 2/5. I am pay check to paycheck sometimes having to borrow with high interest loans to make ends meet. Because of this I have not been able to improve my credit sufficiently to have my sister removed from my loan, if I could do that, I could have a more reasonable payment plan. I recently had a child and this has further impacted my funds.l, navient does not offer any plans to accommodate this change. All I want is that my payment plan be based on my income and not my sister 's so that I can make somehead way on this student loan, it has been almost 10 years of payments and my loan has increases. This seems like a unbreakable circle at this point with navient.

Consumer Complaint: Why does the interest rate keep going up? I thought the interest rate stayed the same because it was a student loan. I can't afford to pay this steady increasing interest rate. Also I thought this loan was supposed to be discharged because of illegal practices of XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX?

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: After reviewing Navients correspondence I believe that the loan that they have put on my credit report may reflect a separate loan from the one allegedly transferred to them from XXXX a loan not covered by the Promissory Note that I signed XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX The reasons that I hold this belief are : XXXX. In XXXX, the address that Navient had for me differed from that which XXXX and the national student loan database, NSLDS had on file. The XXXX XXXX address that XXXX and NSLDS had on file was correct. XXXX had been sending me mail to that address for some time. The XXXX address that Navient had on file was a former address at which I had resided previously. This discrepancy indicates that the loan that Navient is referencing on my credit report is actually for a different, unrelated loan associated with the XXXX address. XXXX. The loan amounts that XXXX and Navient claimed that I owed differed. This difference indicates that the loan that Navient is referring to on my credit report differs from the one allegedly transferred from the one transferred to them from XXXX. XXXX. In XXXX, Navient asserted that that my loan was 228 days late. However, XXXX clearly stated to me in their XX/XX/XXXX correspondence to me that Due to the in-school status the loan was current at the time of transfer. Again, this discrepancy indicates that there may have been multiple loans at play. XXXX. Another indication that Navient is referring to a different loan on my credit report is that there are unclaimed funds being held by the State of Michigan for monies returned by Navient to me that relate to my former XXXX address.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, my agency sent Navient a check in the amount of {$8000.00}. When I checked my Navient account the payment due was XXXX. However, every month the balance was increasing and not decreasing. I reached out to a customer service person and she advised me not to make any payments because Navient was taking out the monthly payment from the payment that my agency sent them. I was even making additional payments in the amount of {$130.00} bi-weekly. I was told if I make the payment, then Navient wouldn't pay the monthly payment. The lump sum amount will sit there. I still wasn't understanding the just of what was going on. I called again and spoke with another customer agent, she told me to continue to make payments on the remaining balance to pay the balance off quicker. And now, the interest has increased from 10 % to 11 % after I paid them {$500.00}. This private loan is over 15 years old. I need your HELP!! I believe Navient is trying to prolong this loan for their benefit. Thank you!
