Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Shame on you CFPB how can you let this continue to happen, always all kinds of problems when companies use an auto dialer. I filed a complaint weeks ago and the company responded saying they found no proof. I am still to this day, even after contacting them in XXXX! We are still receiving receiving automated calls several times a day, caller ID indicates Navient or XXXX XXXX XXXX. If the phone is not answered they leave a message stating this is XXXX XXXX XXXX, if this is XXXX XXXX, the law requires us to notify you this is an attempt to collect a debt and information obtained will be used for that purpose. The caller ID is XXXX, XXXX, XXXX repeating several times a day. Since its the same message if I hang up without listing to it, it will call back repeating the same daily fashion. It is calling my landline phone consistently daily, not allowing to be opt out. Calls come from these numbers which if called, it rings busy. They are even spoofing the phone number to be XXXX XXXX XXXX I believe I am due damages of excessive calling and not allowing me to opt out of these messages, it leaves messages on the machine which indicate it is a debt collector. I have called asked them to stop one time it was a live person and I advised them it was a wrong number and advised them never to call the number again. they resumed calling the next week, and still do as of today. This time it is XXXX XXXX, last time it was. I even put this information in the followup complaint with CFBP that they are calling my phone number ... They are still calling my phone number they are calling is XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I was paying {$300.00} a month and called Sallie Mae because I learned about the new PSLF program from a friend at work. I called Sallie Mae and was told that I would have to change repayment terms to a standard repayment term to qualify. I agreed to increase payment about {$90.00} a month. I was told that I didn't need to do anything and that after 120 payments the rest of my balance would be paid in full. I met with a financial advisor this month who advised me that this want the case and that I would need to pay {$680.00} a month times 84 months! I called Navient who was the. We serviced after Sallie Mae and spoke with loan department. The rep apologized for the mid information and told me I would need to pay {$680.00} a month for 10 years! I was misled for 5 years by SallieMae/ Navient! I am a school Principal so I qualify for this service ... doubling payment is not answe! I am a victim of fraud or negligence by Sallie Mae/Navient! What a real shame and trap!

Consumer Complaint: Second complaint regarding this months payment. They misapplied my payment then wouldnt fix it. Called the company and they stated they couldnt fix the payment until after the due date, but that It would be fixed and that the entire payment had been made and that I didnt owe for the month. Well the payment was fixed but to my surprise I receive an email last night saying my payment was overdue. I login and its overdue for {$5.00}. How is this possible when I overpaid this month? How is this possible when the person on the phone said I was paid in full for the month? Its also saying that I will be charged a late fee. Why is this when your phone rep told me nothing was due?

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I filed another complaint with the CFPB- to no avail. They asked me to file a new Income Driven Plan request for my loan because the " Poverty guidelines have changed- BEFORE my actual yearly renewal. It had been a huge mess. I have been given misinformation since XX/XX/XXXX. I wanted to pay down my loan and asked for the graduated repayment plan- consulted an attorney who told me to go back into the IDR. I reapplied for that. At first, when they kicked me back into the IDR on XX/XX/XXXX, my payment was XXXX. On a side note this was the plan they gave me when I spoke on the phone about the graduated repayment plan. Then, they asked me to reapply before my annual date. I resisted because they had just sent me the statement to my prior plan. When I did receive the email regarding my new plan, my payment was increased to XXXX. I called and spoke with XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX, because i can not afford to pay that amount every month. She asked if XXXX, or close to that was possibly, and I said I could probably do a little more, but not much. She also told me to reapply under REPAYE which would be the lowest monthly payment, so I sent that and I received an email saying it was received on XX/XX/XXXX and that it will take up to 15 business days to process. That last time I tried to lower my payment under the IDR, which ended up being the XXXX, they received my app on XX/XX/XXXX and I had a new payment on XX/XX/XXXX. That took 5 business days. Now, I am still waiting on a response from the last app for the REPAYE. It has been 10 days. Mind you, I have been paying my loan, and having some hardships doing so because the payment is what it is. It has not taken this long to receive a plan. I have done this a lot in the last few months. This company is ridiculous.

Consumer Complaint: I paid off our student loan back on XX/XX/2019 in the amount of XXXX. we were told the check was sent to the dept of education in Georgia. That is not correct, it was XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX We have the cancelled check, as well as the XXXX receipt. They continue to bother me and my daughter with harassment calls and emails. The next step is to pursue litigation. We have never had a late payment on our record. They continue to add interest to the account and this reflects on the three credit bureaus. I don't have the time to monkey with these people.

Consumer Complaint: I CALLED NAVIENT IN XXXX TO ASK ABOUT THE PUBLIC STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY STUDENT LOANS QUALIFIED FOR PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS. I HAVE FFEL LOANS. I PAID MY LOAN PAYMENTS RELIGIOUSLY. I HAVE PAID MY LOANS FOR 18 YEARS. I APPLIED FOR PUBLIC STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS IN XXXX. I RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING THAT I DO NOT HAVE DIRECT LOANS AND SO DO NOT QUALIFY. I CALLED NAVIENT AFTER I RECEIVED THE LETTER AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS " OH WELL ''. AFTER I FILED A COMPLAINT, THEY RESPONDED BY SAYING THEY HAVE A RECORD OF MY CALL IN XXXX BUT NOT THE CALL IN XXXX. SO AGAIN, " OH WELL ''. I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT CALL ON XXXX MAKES A DIFFERENCE OR NOT OTHER THAN TO PROVE TO " SOMEONE '' THAT THIS IS A TRUE ACCOUNT OF EVENTS, HOWEVER, I AM SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH THIS SITUATION. I UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL STATES ARE INVOLVED IN A LAWSUIT WITH NAVIENT FOR EXACTLY THIS SAME TYPE OF SITUATION. UNFORTUNATELY MY STATE IS NOT INCLUDED. IS THERE ANY REPRIEVE FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO DOES NOT HAVE ANY REPRESENTATION? I AM ASKING FOR SOME ASSISTANCE PLEASE. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. PLEASE HELP!

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying my federal student loans since XXXX. I started paying {$300.00} per month. I tried refinancing in XXXX with a private lender thinking that somehow I could save money but quickly went back to Sallie Mae. Year after year I was directed to apply for a forebearance/deferment ( I have no idea which is which ) since I could not make the $ 600+ payment that showed due at that time. Meanwhile, interest continued to mount. Finally in XXXX I was instructed to enroll in the income driven repayment plan. This should have been the original option given to me.
