Consumer Complaint: I was in a loan forgiveness program that didnt require me to make monthly payments. After a year I had to re-qualify for the program. During that process my account was in forbearance. I was never alerted that I was then required to start making monthly payments. Even though my income never changed from my initial approval. I now show 6 missed payments on my credit history and I would like those removed. I am now current with the company after being placed BACK in forbearance but they wont remove the 6 previous missed payments. Online it still says that Im in forbearance and that it will expire soon, so I should have no missed payments.

Consumer Complaint: I was scammed by a company called XXXX XXXX. The company was supposed to cut my student loans in half after I was accepted into the program but instead they just switched my loans to a new provider and stole almost {$1500.00} of mine. I was told I was very lucky to have gained access to their program and I was one of the last ones to be accepted. The company employee had told me that I just needed to pay the first 5 months at a certain amount that was around {$260.00}. Then after the 5 months I would have my payments dropped to affordable payments and I would only owe half of what I had originally. I have gotten emails saying that the government is suing the company for unlawful things and I can not get ahold of the company. When I call it says the company is suspended and wont be back until who knows. I just want to get my loan right and not feel like Im getting scammed for making payments every time because thats what has already happened.

Consumer Complaint: I have {$160000.00} in private student loans with Navient. In XXXX of XXXX, I worked with Navient to agree upon a rate for repayment of my student loans that was realistic for me and my income. I make {$2400.00} per month, and Navient agreed that I could pay {$690.00} a month towards my balance. I made these payments on time every month. In XX/XX/XXXX, my payment amount jumped to {$1400.00} a month. Since then, I have called Navient every month to determine why the payment went up so much and try to work out a solution. They have told me that my loans no longer qualify for the program I was on. I have told them countless times that I absolutely can not afford to spend 60 % of my income on these payments, and they have told me again and again that there is nothing they can do. They refuse to work with me to get me a payment that I can afford. If I continue with these payments, I will not only deplete any savings I have, but I will likely not be able to make the payments within the next several months and will be forced to default on these loans. I have tried to refinance my loans and have been denied by every provider because of my debt to income ratio. It's a vicious cycle that I can not get out of.

Consumer Complaint: I am hoping to find help regarding a student loan asap. This is regarding paying a student loan by NAVIENT Up to now I am current as I have deferred a few times plus I have been on the lower payment plan based on income for several years now but every year the Payment climbs higher and higher and thats even with no income. At the moment I am unable to secure work because number # 1 there is no full time work or permanent work positions here in Puerto Rico. I search on a daily basis and never find anything. I have only been able to secure a paid job by working doing social media ads for a local florist company, they pay me sporatically and struggle as well. I live with my father and he is retired and struggles. I pay him a small monthly amount to help with food electric and cable when I can. I have a phone an no car payments ( thank goodness ). My mother is on SSD and can not help me, her husband recently passed and her health has turned for the worse so I have to struggle between the care of both of my parents as well. I have been struggling literally for over 10 years with these payments. The loan has NEVER gone down, not one dime, it has INCREASED. I live in constant fear everyday that I will die and my mother will be left to endure the wrath of the Student loan nightmare. When I went to this school, I was promised when enrolling and talking to counselors that I would with no problem secure a well paying job that would easily allow me to have money to pay the loan down. I never have, and I had to leave XXXX after 2 years struggling there as I could not find work. My biggest issue with Navient is that they say they work with you but my payment will now go up again and this time I will not be able to pay it. When I applied of the Sallie Mae website back in XX/XX/XXXXI was led to links looking on financial aide that I definitely thought were a government backed loan but it turned out it wasnt. I remember asking the counselor and she stated it was. I later discovered that, of course it was not, after it was too late. Im not sure if that makes a difference but I feel I was lied to. And That was the only reason my mother cosigned and she we was devastated to find out now Loan sharks own my loan and will never st op hounding me or maybe her. In XX/XX/XXXX I was forced to a deferment, then the story goes on from there of deferments that income based payments deferments etc..Please advise me what to do. They act like they work with you but to never see the loan go down EVER in fact its more is a nightmare. I have tried for over 10 years now and I am never going to have the opportunity to fix this. I am at your mercy to help me. Consumer Complaint: First I took out loans in the early 90s through XXXX of XXXX XXXX. At that time as a student we received no loan education or financial counseling. The school allowed us to take out loans, drop, receive the money back and register again and do the same thing. I can not even tell you for how long this happened. Then I graduated in XXXX from the University of XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX. I was put in forbearance right away. I have asked repeatedly about the public service repayment program but was told over and over that as a nurse I did not qualify when in fact I have qualified since XXXX when I first became a nurse. My interest has been accruing since the early 90s and I do not believe that this is right nor do I think its right that I continue to be charged when all my loans would be almost if not already payed off. Navient should have told me many years ago that I qualified for this program. This has totally affected my life and credit.

Consumer Complaint: This is my 3rd complaint against Navient. I am trying to consolidate my student loans and I asked them to provide MPN, verification of the debt I owe. They admit in the last complaint that my online account information was incorrect. Quote from Navient 's last response " After reviewing your Promissory Notes ( which we previously provided to you ), we have confirmed that your 16 Stafford Loans were disbursed to the University of XXXX, not the University of XXXX. Your online account at Navient.com was incorrectly showing the loans as being disbursed to the University of XXXX. Please note that your online account has been updated to reflect University of XXXX as the correct school. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. It is important to understand that a consolidation loan is one loan and is serviced as such. The separation between the subsidized and unsubsidized portions of the loan is for interest subsidy purposes only. Therefore, you will see the separation between the subsidized and unsubsidized portions of your Consolidation loan online at Navient.com. Although the subsidized and unsubsidized portions are separated as explained above, it will reflect on your credit report as one loan. Please understand that your remaining concerns were addressed in our response to CFPB case number XXXX-XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Although we empathize with your situation, our position on this issue has not changed. '' The information provided to be thus far from Navient is still incorrect. They provided me with one MPN for all the loans they service. It is not possible that this one MPN covers all loans they say I owe. The one MPN they provide was signed XX/XX/XXXX. It is not possible that this covers all loans. I was an XXXX XXXX during XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. I completed loan exit counseling in XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX I was a XXXX student at a different institution. My complaint is that the loans they say I owe in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX can not be covered under the MPN Navient has sent me to this point. How am I suppose to know how much I owe and who I owe it to if Navient doesn't do their job and keep financial records?

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I would consider this a predatory loan. To begin, the loan was taken out without my permission by my mother. I had already written in about how I dont believe in the validity of the loan, but it was denied because they say she was my guardian at the time. So after that being that Im an adult I finally tried to rectify this loan and its just been absolutely ridiculous and more or less impossible to pay off. The loan has been subjected to absurd amounts of interest. More than {$10000.00} has been paid on the loan through payments and through garnishment of my tax refunds two years in a row which caused me to be in a situation where I owe tax money to the state since it was offset. Even with all the money paid theyre saying I owe practically the same amount that I started with and when I ask how thats possible they say theyre charging interest daily even when I was making regular payments and in good standing. This morning Navient decided to hit my credit report with 7 late remarks causing me to drop 160 points, to a credit score so low that Ive never even been there before. I consolidated my loans last year with the loan rehab program so theres no reason I should have 7 remarks it should be one. These people are predatory lenders and clearly other states agree and I see that Navient are currently dealing multiple lawsuits because of their vicious ways.
