Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Consumer Complaint: The Loan was taken out in XXXX unsure about the month. It was around XXXX or XXXX. When it to getting relief about the loan I was told that the loan did not qualify for any relief programs because it was a consolidated loan. I was unclear about how you can consolidate a single loan. When asked about the consolidation proof and terms of how the consolidation was put into place nothing was ever sent. When it came to repayment I established a payment arrangement but the balance was not going down and it seemed to be going up at an accelerated pace. There has been ongoing calls about this matter since XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Directed to obtain Deferments or Forbearances causing the interest attached to the original loan to be almost as much as the original principal. Original Loan Amount : {$50000.00} Interest and Late Fees : {$37000.00} Total Owed ( so far ) : {$87000.00} I was mis-informed and ill-advised on my student loan. After numerous years of deferments and forbearances. These are " loan Shark '' rates. Additionally, when Navient took over for Sallie Mae, there must have been some type of miscue because according to Navient I was delinquent several times which in turn was reported to the Credit Reporting Bureaus. This is a result of the switchover, not me.This is causing harm. I was appling for Deferments and Forbearances, even though ill-advised, there is no reason for the delinquent reporting. It is an error on the new Navient servicing company. Conversations on XX/XX/2020 both in online chat and the telephone with Navient representatives proved unfruitful. I requested to that late charges of {$780.00} be removed and the erroneous reporting to the CRB 's be updated and removed. The remedy I seek currently, eliminate interest charges, late fees and restore my good name on my credit reports. There are other issues I will take up at a later date.

Consumer Complaint: I spent 3 1/2 hours on the phone with Navient last night. I called because I received two email notifications that my request for in-school deferment had been processed. I was supposed to have correspondence in my Navient inbox, but nothing was there. I could see that one of my three private loans was in deferment, but only for 2 months ; the others were not showing a deferment applied. The first customer service representative I spoke with ( XXXX ) kept telling me that those emails came from my federal Navient loans, even though I continued to tell him that I ONLY have private loans with Navient. Once he decided he was done speaking with me he transferred me to the federal loans department. I called back again and spoke with another agent ( XXXX ) who told me that there is a maximum of 48 months that can be used for an in-school deferment. I have had my private loans with Navient ( Sallie Mae ) for over 13 years and have NEVER been told that there is a limit to in-school deferments. After going around and around with her about ONLY having private student loans, because apparently that's how they shirk responsibility for private loans, I asked to speak to a manager. After another lengthy hold, the manager reiterated that there is a limit, and she apologized if no one told me that, but there's nothing she can do about it. Again, she tried to tell me that maybe I was referring to my federal loans. I explained, again, that I have no federal loans with Navient. I asked her where I could see the number of in-school deferment months I had used on Navient 's website, and where I would see how many months are allowed for those requests. She could not tell me. I also discovered that customer service agents with Navient have not been notating my account when I call. The last time she saw that I'd called in was XXXX of last year, which is incorrect. I've spoken with them serveral times over the last 6 months, preparing for the deferment and making sure I knew what I was getting into.

Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX XXXX offering to complete my application for a loan forgiveness program I recently inquired about with Navient. They asked for my birthdate and social security number, then accessed my file to review payment plans I might qualify for. He offered a down payment of XXXX XXXX monthly for 4 months then a payment reduction of 50 % for 240 payments with a forgiveness of any remaining balance at that time. I spoke with Navient who advised this info. Was not correct.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have learned that Navient will not help you lower your monthly payments if your loans are current. Because of this, I've had to let my loans fall behind and into default in order to receive the lower payments. Each time I call, they never offer or even acknowledge Income-Based Repayment Plans ( IBR ). I have to apply for forbearance and pay a fee for the " pleasure ''. While I wait for " enough time '' to pass before they will assist ( causing my loans to become past-due ), I and my co-signer receive up to fifteen calls a day from Navient. This harassment happens at all hours of the day ( XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX ), seven days a week. Also, I have five student loans with them ( one for each year and a fifth one because the loan amount requested was incorrect ). Once my forbearance is approved, I am told that the payment I make is dispersed equally to each of the five loans. This usually is not the case ; they will only apply it to some of the loans, so I will be bombarded with letters and phone calls stating that I am past-due, when I am not. This past time I was in forbearance, I called to ask if I could change my due date. They assured me I could ; however, when my payment ( which is automatically paid to them and which THEY set up ) did not occur on that day, I would again receive numerous phone calls and letters until the payment was received on my new due date.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have resubmitted the recertification application for my Income based student loan to NAVIENT in XX/XX/XXXX along with a copy of my paystub that show a 2 week pay period. In XXXX, I received emails that my student loan monthly fee was increasing to {$740.00} from my original payment of {$220.00} This monthly payment is automatically deducted from my checking account as my payments are submitted from an auto pay checking account. I have tried numerous times to reach out to Navient by phone only to get the call dropped or put on hold for an extended period. I even resubmitted all off the required documents AGAIN only to be told they are collecting {$740.00} from my auto pay checking on XX/XX/XXXX. I explained that I had submitted the documents in XXXX and asked if the auto pay date can be extended until the end of the month to ensure the correct amount of {$220.00} could be withdrawn. I was told there was nothing that they could do and that I will be required to pay XXXX regardless of my income based payment plan of XXXX. I explained that I do not have the extra XXXX to pay this amount based on my income as a single adult grandmother with XXXX grandchildren. This creates an extreme hardship on my family as the only money allotted that is left in my account is the rent. I have made an effort for the past year and a half to make on time payments despite the hardship. At this point i will have no choice but to block this payment with my bank to avoid insufficient funds fees and this payment will be reflected as late on my record. Please help me - I have asked for a supervisor via my phone follow up with a customer service rep today but was disconnected I am still trying to reach a supervisor at this time.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: Sallie Mae was the original holder of my student loans and sold them to Navient. When I experienced hardship, Navient refused to provide me with alternative repayment plans, such as income-driven repayment plans. Navient consumer representatives told me these types of plans didnt exist and the tone on the phone was such as a bully to force you into a bad decision. I was paying two of my loans on time every month. Navient had a glitch in their system and stopped taking auto payments from my bank account monthly. Navient blamed me for the stop in payments, my bank information never changed. My brother was a co-signer of my loan. The original lender Sallie Mae released the funds to my brother who was not attending college. They refused to allow him to return the check and send the check to me. My brother gave me the check to use for school. They failed to release him as a co-signer. Navient failed me as a customer. I settled my loans with Navient for less than I originally borrowed. Navient predatory actions cost my credit score to be affected and reports often as account paid for less than full balance. I seek redress from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as I was harmed by Navients illegal practices. I ask the Bureau to take action to have Navient cease and desist from reporting negative credit information to credit bureaus. Navient failed to provide myself with the basic protections of the law.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted Navient by phone in XX/XX/XXXX after i withdrew to stop my loan and they agreed to do so.i also asked about the income based plan and was denied. Instead I was given the option of deferrment. I contacted them again in XX/XX/XXXX when i saw that they had turned it in to the XXXX. I was informed that another loan had been disbursed under my name which I informed Navient and the School that that was fraud. They blew me off like it was nothing. I contacted them again in XX/XX/XXXX after i disputed it on my credit and asked again can I get on the income based plan. Once again you are not eligible but we have something called forbearance. I never agreed to deferrment or forbearance in which I was placed. I was enrolled into XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX Missouri which seems not to exist because I can't find any info on the school
