Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: My problem pertains to a 90 day late error on my Navient loans. There is no late history, I pay the account on time and am never late. The error does not show a 30, 60 late prior to the 90 day late. I have called Navient and explained the error, and they have promised to remove it because it is an obvious error. However the problem persists and worse yet gets duplicated across all my loans. The same 90 day late annotation. I have been treated very kindly by Navient but the problem has been addressed and found to be an error by various agents but never corrected when they say it will. I am asking for help to see this small matter resolved.

Issue: Threatened to contact someone or share information improperly

Subissue: Contacted your employer

Consumer Complaint: I have a Federal student loan with Navient dba XXXX, and I have been paying them. There was a time that I fell behind, however, XXXX began to accept my monthly payments again. On XX/XX/2020 I began to receive phone calls and voice messages from someone named XXXX XXXX ( the spelling may not be accurate ) who claims that she represents Pioneer Recovery Services and she is looking to discuss a debt owed. First, I am making monthly payments to the loan servicer and I do not feel comfortable with paying an entity that I have never received any written or electronic communication from while I am currently paying the monthly fee to XXXX. Secondly, I explained this the representative from Pioneer Recovery and she ( this company ) have continued to harass me and those that I know and/or are familiar with. I advised this representative to contact Navient and/or XXXX, as they are accepting my monthly payments. I asked that she, and her company, no longer contact me or anyone that is associated with me. I also requested that she and her company refrain from calling my employer as debt collection calls are not allowed and are grounds for termination. These requests have not been honored ; Ms. XXXX has continued to contact my employer and they have also continued to leave voice messages. My employer has requested that she, and her company, no longer contact them as debt collection calls are not allowed at all for any employee. Unfortunately, the phone calls and voice messages from Ms. XXXX and Pioneer have persisted. Ms. XXXX and her company have ignored the adamant requests made, not only by my employer, but by my personal acquaintances which they have located via social media and reached out to via phone. This representative and company have asked that my employer provide them with personal information and details regarding me -- -this is illegal on several fronts. It is also illegal to inform an employer about an employees ' personal economic issues. I am filing this complaint to alert your organization about the tactics of XXXX XXXX, a representative of Pioneer Recovery, and Pioneer Recovery as a whole, and how my personal data and information have been compromised and shared with others who were not entitled to this information. Please let me know what additional details may be needed in order to cease the harassing phone calls and voice messages that I continue to receive. I would also like to know how best to proceed with filing an official complaint against XXXX XXXX and Pioneer Recovery as they have shared personal, confidential, and sensitive information about me and to third parties that were not privy to this information. Thank you.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, I called every month to inquire after loan consolidation and income-driven repayments. Each time was a different account ( and with some third world country calling agent I might add who could barely speak the language ). After three years of calling, every month or every other month, I was convinced I could not consolidate, and that graduated payments were my only option. This was done to lock me out of market low consolidation rates and a IDR plan. It is now XXXX. I have given TWICE of my principal back and still owe {$100000.00}. Under the consolidation that was available to me at the time according to others with consolidation rates, that amount would be almost nothing today. IDR is harder to calculate, but rough estimates according to others with similar incomes put a sum of {$50000.00} less than I have collectively paid today. I want to sue Navient for {$500000.00}.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged

Consumer Complaint: I was overcharged for my student loan payoff. On my payoff date ( XX/XX/2020 ) I confirmed via Navient 's web chat the final payoff amount. I then made the payment in that amount ( paying more than listed on the site was not possible, as a validation error appeared if I set even 1 cent higher than the amount confirmed by the agent in live chat ). Then I made the payment that should have been my final student loan payment ever and kept the confirmation number : Payment Confirmation # : XXXX Days later, after the payment finished processing, a balance remained in my account. I paid the remaining balance ( Payment Confirmation # : XXXX ) and reached out to Navient via email to figure out what happened. The email response I received admitted it was Navient 's mistake on XX/XX/2020. I then requested a refund for the overcharged amount. The email response I received on XX/XX/2020 denied it was Navient 's mistake and refused to refund me. I have all these transcripts and messages available to submit as evidence.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: After graduating from XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX with an XXXX XXXX XXXX & XXXX XXXX XXXX, my Student Loan Service Provider immediately began deceiving me into believing that Deferment & Forbearance were the only repayment options for my {$30000.00} in Federal Student Loans. I asked multiple times about different payment options and each time, the providers put me into a program that increased my balance without ever telling me that I could make a smaller monthly payment ( my payment was always just out of reach ). After my service loan provider switched from XX/XX/XXXX to Navient ( without my full understanding and not at my request ), I found myself 2 months behind on payments. One payment went to the wrong provider and another payment simply didn't process when Navient began processing payments. During this time, I was given conflicting information about when my payment would actually become due. Before I was able to correct the problem with Navient, they began automatically forwarding phone calls from my number to their overseas debt collectors. The people who were answering the phone told me they did not work for Navient and told me that " you are not able to speak with a Navient employee until your account is current ''. THIS PROCESS OF NOT ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK WITH AN EMPLOYEE OF MY STUDENT LOAN PROVIDER WAS USED AS A WEAPON AGAINST ME!! After several weeks and multiple calls ( ALL OF WHICH AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDED TO XXXX ), I agreed with the Off-shore debt collectors to go into forbearance so that I could again talk to Navient employees rather than outside debt collectors whom at the time, SEEMED to barely understand English. These Off-shore debt collectors were USED BY NAVIENT to convince me that Forbearance was my only option. They told me that I would have to deal with the debt collectors until my account was current, they threatened to garnish my wages, get a judgement against me and take my tax refund check. Looking back now, I realize that Navient forwarded my calls to an outside debt collector for no reason except to FORCE ME INTO A 10+ YEAR LONG PROCESS OF Forbearance that has increased my total Student Loan Debt! When I first went on forbearance, I felt powerless and frustrated! Now looking back at the timing of these issues, which coincided with BOTH my Chapter XXXX Bankruptcy in XX/XX/XXXX and also Navient 's email motto of " Forbeare them '', I am MAD! I FEEL CHEATED! If these folks would have worked with me in XX/XX/XXXX, I would have been able to come out of Bankruptcy and been able to pay them $ XXXX $ 150 monthly on an Income Based Repayment Program. Had they explained that this option existed INSTEAD OF SENDING MY CALLS TO XXXX, my Student Loan Balance today would be PAID IN FULL!

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Hello, My name is XXXX and I'm experiencing issues with Navient Student Loans reporting late payments to the credit bureau. Below is the sequential events that caused my account to be considered delinquent. 1. I was approved for forbearance from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. My first payment was due on XX/XX/XXXX. 2. On XX/XX/XXXX I was rear ended in a car crash and taken to the ER. I remained in the hospital for 5 days but wasn't released back to work. 3. Due to being out of work for my accident, I was required to apply for FMLA/XXXX XXXX XXXX. As a result of being out of work, my time was not entered into XXXX and I wasn't paid resulting in the XX/XX/XXXX payment to reject. 4. I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX advising that my loans are at least 10 days past due but I still had time to make a payment to keep my delinquency from being reported to the credit Bureau. The document provided a breakdown of the amount owed and displayed an amount for 2 months ( 2 missed payments ) 5. On XX/XX/XXXX I made a full months payment that posted on XX/XX/XXXX ( 2 days prior to my due date ) which according to the delinquency letter should have removed 30 days ( 1 cycle ) from the total days my account was considered late. 6. On XX/XX/XXXX I made another {$1.00} payment to enroll back into retroactive forbearance that was applied from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. 7. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a confirmation letter confirming my forbearance was approved and specifically under the credit reporting heading, the document reads " If your loans were delinquent and your loans have been reported to the credit reporting agency, information reported BEFORE the loan was processed will not be removed '' 8. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an alert from my credit monitoring service that my Navient Loans were reprted between 90 days late for the months of XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX even though my forbearance was processed 3 days prior to being reported as late to the credit agencies. 9. Today I received a new alert showing that XX/XX/XXXX 's late payments were removed but now XX/XX/XXXX is now showing as 120 days late.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I received my federal student loans in XXXX while attending XXXX XXXX COLLEGE in XXXX, OK. I graduated in XXXX with an XXXX XXXX XXXX and in XXXX the loan payment on the 2 consolidated loans was to begin. From XXXX-XXXX I worked for XXXX XXXX XXXX as an XXXX XXXX and when I inquired about and applied for the forgiveness program for government workers I was told I didn't qualify, I have continued to make payments all theses years and still have a balance of {$11000.00} and am now retired from XXXX XXXX. My son now is in college and we are trying to help him without assuming the debt I did while I continue to repay a loan over 20 years old. I feel like when I applied for the government forgiveness program I was misinformed and should have qualified. Since the ongoing law suit against Navient and all of theother borrowers coming forward with similar stories I am convinced that I was misinformed as to my application for government employee forgiveness. Please help I feel like I will pass away before they are paid in full.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: My name ( attachments are the account history & correspondence letters ) I have a complaint against this company ( Navient ) regarding a 90 day forbearance that was applied XXXX XXXX. I received a disaster relief forbearance and still was penalized for non-payment for XXXX I was told by the representative my payment would begin in XXXX. I received a letter XX/XX/XXXX stating payment due {$320.00} for due date XX/XX/XXXX. Past due notice with interest of {$230.00} dated XX/XX/XXXX with a notice of {$650.00} due XX/XX/XXXX. So from the statement I have been penalized for XXXX & XXXX. This was listed in the letter that I received XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX PA XXXX-XXXX Navient.com Because the borrower of the above referenced loan resides in a county or jurisdiction that has been designated as a disaster area, we have applied an administrative forbearance on the loan postponing the next payment due. You don't need to make a loan payment until after the forbearance ends.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Navient issued to letters dated XX/XX/XXXX, received today, XX/XX/XXXX with incorrect, conflicting information. A final payment of {$19000.00} was made on the student loan on XX/XX/XXXX. Navient cashed that check on XX/XX/XXXX. Navients first letter dated XX/XX/XXXX, states they received a payment of {$15000.00} and allege there is a balance due of {$93.00} which they claim is due in ten days. This is a HUGE discrepancy. Navients second letter dated XX/XX/XXXX, states they received a payment of {$15000.00} and allege there is a balance due of {$110.00} which they claim is due by XX/XX/XXXX. This same letter, at the top, says nothing is due on XX/XX/XXXX. The second letter, dated the same day, received the same day differs greatly from the first letter. Navient exudes incompetence. This is a HUGE discrepancy. Please refer to the attached and note all of the discrepancies. Most of the discrepancies are highlighted in the attachment. 1. Payment amounts in both letters are incorrect 2. Amount due in both letters is incorrect 3. The due dates in both letters are incorrect. 4. The application of the payment was misapplied. 5. Navient still has not even attempted to correct any of their previous errors and they continue to compound the issue with additional errors. It should be noted that numerous letters have been written to Navient at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, PA XXXX and Navient has failed to respond. Navient is a horrible company and should be held accountable for their numerous errors. There have been numerous and ongoing issues with Navient that demonstrate a pattern of behavior and the escalation. While this new issue is separate and distinct from the others, it further demonstrates the escalation of abuse and Navient 's failure to correct their errors and improve their business practices.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: Sallie Mae sold account to Navient. Since Navient my student loans have increased and the interest accruing can not double my loans. I attended XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX and graduated in XXXX. In XXXX tuition was {$15000.00} per my carbon copy of our agreement. Sallie Mae disbursed {$15000.00} to the school of 2 subsidized and 2 unsubsidized loans. And I received a {$3500.00} pell grant. I also took out a private loan on my behalf at XXXX XXXX for $ XXXX and gave XXXX out of pocket {$2900.00}. Those figures equal {$21000.00} and tuition did not cost that much. Presently, Navient has my 4 loans at {$22000.00}. It has increased XXXX. The first 2 years I paid {$190.00} a month for close to 2 years. That is over $ 3K paid. The XXXX I paid doesn't even reflect on the account. I have had to put my loans in deferment, unemployment deferment and forbearance since XXXX. I feel Navient is not being honest. Student loan interest rates are from 5 % -6.8 %. My XXXX loan is now {$9400.00}, {$3500.00} is now {$4600.00}, {$2700.00} is now {$3400.00}, and {$3000.00} is {$4500.00}. During deferment or forbearance I thought interest is paid by the government. The initial tuition and disbursements are incorrect. The financial aid representative at XXXX at this time made consecutive errors with student loans. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and unable to go back to school as this debt is increasing. I have a baby and am XXXX. I am XXXX and working as a XXXX in the hospital setting. The XXXX role was demoted and pay rates declined. A XXXX was only make what a XXXX XXXX XXXX was and could only perform those job duties. As you now need a XXXX XXXX degree to perform XXXX duties in the hospital setting now. My income for last year was {$5100.00}. I am still making payments on my XXXX XXXX private loan that was XXXX and now is {$5600.00}. I make monthly payments of {$97.00} a month and paid {$86.00} a month since XXXX, deferring for a few months for unemployment and national disaster in the past. I would like Navient investigated regarding this matter. I would really like to attend school and to become a XXXX so my income can increase. I am unable to go back to school because of this burden. Please help. Thank you.
