Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I set up rate reduction payment plans on a semi regular basis with this company because I will not be able to pay the full amount due for the foreseeable future ( and for the last several years ). I received a call today telling me I have an outstanding amount and I was advised to pay it and set up repayment plans at another time. I let the CSR ( XXXX ) know that I can not pay that amount because I participate in repayment plans. He asked me questions then told me I did not qualify and to just pay the outstanding amount. I told him that my most recent plan went through the month of XXXX ( last payment coming out on XX/XX/23 ) and that I was told to call back in XXXX to re-set up a new rate reduction payment plan. I was also told that my 3 loans were not all on the same repayment plan, this happened before, and I went through a long process to speak to a supervisor and get them all on the same plan so that it would not be reported negatively to my credit. I was previously told that all 3 were taken care under the umbrella of the rate reduction plan and my credit would not be negatively affected. I asked to speak to a manager, was put on hold and told that there were no one available. I asked that a manager give me a call once one was available as I could not sit on hold because I am at work. I was told they can not do that, and I would have to call. I have gone through this scenario several times where the notes on my account are not correct, and I am given misinformation by multiple employees of the company. I have had reps call to apologize and fix the mistakes, yet they keep happening. I am grateful for the rate reduction plans however I can not afford any payments without them. On my last call with the company, I was told that my current balance is {$38000.00} ( I took out $ XXXX + loan originally and have been making payments over the course of 14 years ). I work very hard to try and stay compliant, so my credit is not affected. For years I was told and advised by the student loan company ( XXXX XXXX and then Navient ) to take deferment because it was the " easier route ''. During the years of XXXX I was advised multiple times when I called in to make payments or set up payment plans that deferment was available and to just take deferment. I am very affected by the bad advice this company has given me, and now the disorganization of my account is negatively affecting me again. I have been called several times to " apologize for mistakes made on my account ''. As someone who lives paycheck to paycheck and supports family members, I can not afford mistakes like this. Had I known years ago this would be such a major part of my life, I do not think I would have taken these loans even at the advice of my university financial aid office. Consumer Complaint: I called Navient student loans on XX/XX/2023 because they were charging me late fees and none of my payments were late. The total balance was XXXX $ and I have XXXX children and bills and couldn't make such large payments with high interest rates. They said they can enroll me into a program that would help lower my payments, I asked customer service if these payments would go toward the principal balance? and they said yes. I signed up to pay XXXX $ a month a total of XXXX $ within the last six months was paid to them and when I looked at my balance it kept increasing. My account balance went from XXXX $ to XXXX $ I am reporting them for lying about what I had to pay and requesting they leave me and my elderly grandfather alone. My grandfather is a U.S. military veteran suffering from XXXX they have called him harassing him in the past asking for payments and it makes him so stressed and confused that he ends up paying them telephonically and I never saw the difference reflect in my account. I have told them to remove his number and only call me. Navient has put a tremendous amount of stress on me and my grandpa.

Consumer Complaint: During XXXX my student loans recently were in forebarence. However, I had other student loans from 2013 when I went to XXXX University. Its through Navient. They never stopped charging me and I went ahead and made the payments but after research, I believe the student loans should not still have a balance. I was very young and went to XXXX but then when I started a family I stopped for many years and then when I was in my late XXXX and early XXXX attended a university or college. Those student loans I am very aware of and carry a balance of around {$38000.00} which was in forbearance. I would like some help to understand if the company Navient still has over a {$10000.00} balance, when my attendance to XXXX was in 2013 when I was much younger. I want to know my rights and understand if I actually signed up for consolidation so they could move the balances to a new loan to start all over to pay or if actually, the balance is legitimate that they have. I just want to know if student loans over 10 years are still payable because with that added to my XXXX my payment is almost {$500.00} a month and I just want make sure its an actual payment thats required Im not trying to get out of paying student loans. I just want make sure that Im not getting taken advantage of.

Consumer Complaint: My private school loan was transferred from XXXX XXXX to Navient XX/XX/XXXX. Since that time I have been making payment buts since it is a variable interest rate my interest rate has ballooned. Attached is a printout of my payment history. The last phone conversation I had with XXXX XXXX at Navient on XX/XX/XXXX inquiring why my payments are increasing even when the Feds don't raise interest rates, I was informed that every 3 months my payment history is reviewed and they automatically raise my interest rate without informing me. Currently my interest rate is at 17.625. At this rate, I will never pay back this loan amount. This is very suspicious practices by Navient and feel that I am being taken care of. My loan rate has gone up to almost 250 %. I understand Navient has been sued before and want to be included in a class action suit. Thank you. XXXX XXXX

In XXXX Navient reached out to let us know we will start paying them since the bankruptcy was over. I wrote Navient a letter stating that the loan should have been discharged because the loans were not from a Title IV school. I sited in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Class Action Lawsuit Case No. XXXX and I referenced the Federal School Code list from XXXX indicating XXXX University located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Kansas XXXX was not on the list of eligible institutions for Title IV. Navient put our loans in forbearance while they completed their research. I called Navient every couple of months to check in but there was no movement. In XXXX, Navient told me that it was not likely these loans would go away and all I was doing was building up interest. They told me to start paying the loans. I took a 401K loan out and paid my husband 's loan off. For my loan, Navient said to refinance it with Navi ReFi. Today I saw that the suit was finally settled.
