Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX, and I am an XXXX resident who consolidated student loans with my wife in XXXX. Ive been following the legislation to separate the consolidated spousal loans that President Biden signed into law in XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX I have been patiently waiting for the Department of Education to issue guidance on separating these loans. Both my wife and I are public employees for sixteen plus years. We are eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, especially now that the Spousal Consolidation Separation law is in effect. DOE has failed to provide any guidance on how to separate our consolidated loan and so we can transfer it to the DOE for PSLF eligibility. DOE has published a one-time IDR Account Adjustment for which I feel we qualify under the terms listed. However, because our loan is a spousal loan we can not complete the required steps because DOE has not provided the path to consolidate FFEL loans to XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I filed bankruptcy in 2017. At that time, my student loans with Navient should have been discharged as well. They were never discharged and the loans are double the cost of tuition for the university I attended.

Consumer Complaint: I received a private student loan in XXXX. I have continuously paid even while in school. The interest rate has been going up in a manner that benefits the lender. By the time I pay off, I will have paid the loan twice. I believe this is a predatory scheme and I need to know if something can be done. I have saved PDF files of the loan and the interest rate if you should need them. I spoke to a representative of the company but they tell me I will be out of the loan in XXXX.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I currently have XXXX loans with Navient for which covered my school fees, books, and living expenses while I attended school at XXXX XXXX. I at the time of applying for the loans I had a family to support and my school advised to borrow money for living expenses because we were not allowed to work. I graduated from XXXX XXXX in 2006. My loans were in forbearance for a few years. When began paying my loans I could not afford to pay the monthly charges so Navient placed me in an interest only payment program where very little was applied to the principal. I had been paying on these loans for the past several years interest only until last year I became sick had a nervous break down due to the stress of my student loan payments and family obligations. Time and time again I requested a more affordable plan but they would only offer interest only. I have since stopped paying because I cant afford to pay and I have family obligations. I do have co signers but they too can not afford to make the payments. I feel I have way over the amount needed to Navient. I am unable to do anything to afford me to even pay my federal student loans. I would like to be apart of a law suit against Navient to be XXXX from my loans. Thank You

Consumer Complaint: According to the Navient settlement, I should be filing this complaint I believe. I had a bunch of Navient loans, and I filed bankruptcy in XXXX. I was advised I could not put my loans on my bankruptcy.. I was denied consolidation and forbearance of my loans due to my debt to income ratio, that coupled with the sheer number of the loans that it took to complete my education. they also somehow kept many of my loans out of default, despite me not being able to make payments on them since the minimum monthly on each equaled more than my monthly income. I ended up with several loans registered as current, that had not been paid on since XXXX HOWEVER, several of my loans DID go into default, and the lenders consolidated with a debt collector, rather than me, and then garnished me for years, which they continued to do for MONTHS after the federal freeze on student loan repayments due to Covid they mustve garnished me an additional 4 to 6 months at least after that student loan repayment freeze. I was making XXXX an hour and paying over XXXX a month in garnishment due to both the loan repayment, coupled with their debt collectors fees, because they simply refused to consolidate for ME when I tried.. that wasnt good enough. I also should mention the entire duration of my four-year degree I was receiving Social Security XXXX, and had been since the late 90s?. Im about to file for a second bankruptcy now due to what these loans and garnishments have done to the REST of my lifes debt.. theyve impact EVERYTHING, not just themselves. Ive been denied housing, dental care, My dog has been denied medical care.. ALL because of them.. and thats just the tip of the iceberg that stuff people dont think about I cant even do scratch pay because of them..
