Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Hi, In XXXX I became unemployed and had XXXX. I filed bankruptcy and included my student loan balance in my debts. I was told it could not be discharged. I contacted Navient on several occasions, most recently last month to find out about any ways the loan could be discharged. I have been paying this loan since XXXX and presently am only paying interest on the original XXXX borrowed. It is on an income driven repayment plan. I recently found out that money borrowed beyond the cost of the tuition can be discharged in bankruptcy and I wanted to find out if I qualified for this at the time of my filing. I still owe XXXX on this loan. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Consumer Complaint: Navient..crooked from Day 1. My loans were not released in bankruptcy. I've applied for income driven repayment and have received no response or help. The rules seem to change all the time, but they lock you in. They keep taking and do not work with you or respond unless you give them money.

Consumer Complaint: We declared bankruptcy in 1994 and had to pay my student loans all this time as they were not dismissed. I was put on the XXXX XXXX for about 4 years and now Nivent has taken me off. I was able for 16 years to postpone my loans because I did not work after I retired. I retired at XXXX and paid my loans every month I ever worked. I am now XXXX years of age and I have a cane and I have a walker and I am very XXXX as my XXXX has gone to pot and I really am unable to work but it doesnt make any difference with this company they will not let me off the hook and they took me off the XXXX XXXX and I asked them many times to keep me on it as my husband died two years ago And he had a small pension plan which I got because he had worked all his life and that month I made more than normal. I have no taxable income and they still will not leave me alone. It is time for those of us that have paid all our lives when we work not to pay these student loans anymore I am needing help because nobody is helping me at this point and I live alone, and I do not have the money to pay the student loans. All my student loans are interest at this point. I really had paid them off before I retired but then they started the interest with the little bit that was the left.

Consumer Complaint: I got this loan ( my mom was there, which is why it's the priv loans ) for XXXX XXXX for XXXX XXXX XXXX. my mom has been paying it back, with and without forbearance and delayed, and what have you. the total of the loan ( maybe 5yrs ago ) was arounf XXXX XXXX!!!! WHY?? how is it possible to be paying something off and the original loan amount jusy gets higher. what are we paying for, for almost 20yrs, that increases instead of decreasing while being paid?? also, they're hard/difficult to deal with when you call them for help. also very pushy when you're talking to them. also increasing monthly payments only to not put payments towards lowering the loan.

Consumer Complaint: This account reported by Navient and held by XXXX shows an original balance of {$4200.00} and a charged-off balance of {$6100.00}. This account was disputed and found to be predatory lending under the borrower 's defense investigation. Navient then wrote off {$6000.00} and continues to make collection calls regarding a balance owed of {$1600.00}. Additionally, they report the account is current, not determined, or charged off on my credit despite continuing collection calls. They have harassed myself, family members, and my workplace.
