Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: From XXXX, I struggled to repay the loan and I was forced into forbearance. I am a public service worker and have been for 23 years and I am unable to apply for loan forgiveness. I have over {$150000.00} in student loan debt. I will be repaying this loan back for the rest of my life, literally. I owe more in interest than the actually loans.

Consumer Complaint: This is a complaint about an active loan with Navient. This loan was taken out in XXXX in the amount of {$25000.00} to attend XXXX, a now closed school that has defrauded students. Since their closure the students of XXXX XXXX, the department of education has created two programs to assist students affected, and any direct loans qualify for forgiveness. This is a private loan, so it has not been forgiven, even though the educational promise was proven fraud and was not fulfilled. The loan was serviced by Navient which then openly coerced the borrower into a repayment plan that never paid down any of the principal balance. The payments were resulting in an increase of the balance, bumping the amount owed to {$30000.00} by XXXX. This loan has been in 16 years of repayment with Navient and the amount currently owed is {$15000.00}. This should have been a standard student loan with fair repayment options. This loan should qualify for a forgiveness program. The deceitful practices of lending and unfair repayment options have destroyed the borrowers credit, and have kept them relating a student loan for decades that they never received the educational benefit of. The borrower has effectively paid tens of thousands of dollars over 16 years for nothing but the profit and benefit of Navient.

Consumer Complaint: NAVIENT between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX placed me in forbearance for at least 36 months in violation of Federal rules even when my monthly payment under an IDR plan could have been as low as zero dollars. The Federal government through its Department of Education generally limits forbearance to 12 consecutive months or three years total after which payments should resume.

Consumer Complaint: I have had multiple yearly discussions with Navient in order to either put my loans into forbearance, delay loans, get income-drive repayment plans, get smaller payments -- if there was an option to give me financial breathing room, then I've exhausted that option. I've dealt with daily calls. I've even dealt with being hung up on by rude customer service reps. Navient employs unethical techniques. They have sent mail to my house in different packaging in order to force more payments from me. They will send large manila envelopes with fake font that looks like handwriting and no return address in order to hide that it is Navient sending out mail. I've been pressured with litigation even though I should not have been. It's been a daily financial struggle with my student loans. I've suffered XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding my student loan weight for 12 years now. I can not buy a house or secure any type of financial stability due to the destruction of my credit score. Navient has already been pressured to settle billions of dollars of debt due to unethical practices since I've graduated. Just because I wasn't in default ( because I was pressured by Navient to keep making payments even when I barely could ), doesn't mean I wasn't harmed by these predatory practices. Please see more at XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have federal student loans, initially with Sallie Mae, then Navient, not XXXX. In high school XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, I was repeatedly pulled out of class to hear from a third party representative about federal student loans and filling out a XXXX form. From my perspective, it seemed that all students pulled into these presentations were high-performing, low-income students. I was told by counselors, teachers, and the representative that all student debt was a " good debt '' and an " investment in my future ''. I was told not to worry about the amount I take out, as I would be able to consolidate the loans and have a " manageable payment ''. I do not know where this third party came from, but I believe this was a predatory act by federal loan servicers and that my high school was prioritizing numbers ( % of grads attending college ) over my wellbeing. Through the years, I have paid over {$14000.00} toward my federal debt. {$4000.00} of this has been applied to my principal. The amount I borrowed was about {$20000.00}. My current balance is over {$25000.00}. From XXXX, I consistently made my monthly payment, however {$0.00} were applied to my principal balance. I set up this repayment plan at a time when, if I was on XXXX, my monthly payment would have exceeded an amount that I could afford to pay. I was offered an alternate payment plan that I could afford, which is the one I've described where my principal balance increased by {$5000.00} over the course of 6 years. It was not explained to me at the time that this payment plan would set me up to perpetually experience more debt rather than work towards repayment. I believe I was taken advantage of by the student loan servicing companies. I feel as if my situation, because I did not experience forbearance or missed payments, is slipping between the cracks through the current and ongoing lawsuits and legal changes. Also that the misleading marketing about federal loans that I experienced came from an unknown third party at my high school. I truly believe that, as a low-income student with parents who did not graduate college, I was misled and taken advantage of by the federal student loan system. I'm not sure what you can do with this information but I felt I needed to share my situation as I continuously see news about potential relief and successful lawsuits that provide relief and support to people who have been similarly taken advantage of by this system. There must be others who share these experiences.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I've sent dispute letters numerous times asking for verification and requesting changes in the past and twice in the last 2 months about how they're reporting my payment history incorrectly. All XXXX bureaus are reporting late payments that weren't late and they have them reporting at random days of delinquency. Ex : I have consecutive months paid on time and then the next month suddenly jumps to 90 days late then reports OK and then jumps again to 60 or 90 days late. If my payments were to have been late then what happened to the 30 and 60 days reporting first? That can't report that way and they weren't late payments to begin with, my letters have been ignored for quite some time and I'm left with seeking legal representation for the damages these incorrectly reported accounts have been affecting my credit and quality of life for years now. XXXX is showing my payments go from OK to 120 late the next month. XXXX is also reporting late months that are outside the 7 year statute of limitations, another violation. I'll attach copies of my most recent reports for proof.

Consumer Complaint: IN 2006 After having a baby. I was told by the federal government I would never qualify for loan forgiveness as a XXXX. I would be placed on an income driven plan that was 3 times my pay at the time. My interest rate was 6.5 %. Then I was contacted to consolidate outside of the government. I have paid my loans for 20 years. Did the government and these other companies work together to mislead me during XXXX Why would I not refinance and save XXXX over 20 years if I was never going to qualify? I had XXXX and Navient. There has to be records of these conversations, emails, and conversations on their website, which I can not get into now that I do not have a loan with them.
