Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I was enrolled as a XXXX at XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX beginning in Fall of XXXX through Fall XXXX when I officially withdrew with a leave of absence. When I withdrew I did so within the window that allowed my student loans to be return to lender. ( {$2500.00} XXXX Stafford Unsub & XXXX XXXX Stafford Sub ) For whatever reason this info was not adjusted correctly and it was shown that these 2 loans were dispersed. But they had been cancelled and returned. After many years of the incorrect information being provided to me without the ability to view accurate information. I began payment of the loans, based upon the false belief that once loan was satisfied, I would be able to have access to the details of the loan. Basically loans were cancelled, but I was unable to verify that until recently. I reached out to the loan servicer, which is Navient and was met first with a representative that was as shocked and confused as I was regarding the inaccuracy status history of my loans. I was told a case would be opened to look into the loans and a promissory note would be obtained to establish an idea of what had happened. I was told resolution would be within a two week time frame. When I received no update I reached out to Navient again for clarification of the validity of the actual loans, I was met with a hostile representative that talked in circles and offered no assistance. When I look on the studentaid.gov The loans I have been paying on for the past 25 years states that the loans were disbursed but returned and cancelled. I have been accruing interest as well as late fees on these loans that are not even valid. I also have been paying them for the past several years and I am so annoyed that I can not get clarification or help regarding this. Attached are statements that show the loans were cancelled. The only valid loan was FFELP Stafford Sub Loan XXXX. I really need help figuring this all out. Navient will not help me with this and refuses to acknowledge that the loans were cancelled and have not require any payment. If any additional information is required, please let me know and I will forward whatever info is required.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: Im seeking loan forgiveness since Navient has already forgiven XXXX XXXX dollars. But I was excluded because I reside in Texas and my attorney general didnt take up lawsuit against navient like 35 other states did.. Aside from living in Texas that makes me ineligible for forgiveness, I do however meet criterias for loan forgiveness in many other ways.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I was approved for a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX loan. I was in deferment while I was in school until I XXXX. From XXXX I received calls and emails from XXXX and Navient. In XXXX recognized on my credit report that my loan appeared to be to be transferred to a company named XXXX without my knowledge of any sort. I made payments between XXXX until XXXX XXXX. In XXXX I requested my original contract. I received a XXXX data dump that states it's from XXXX. I did give me my original contract. Navient along with the other companies listed intentionally mislead and deceived me about their payment process, their obligation to honor the previous loan agreement and their compliance to fairly offer programs that helped borrowers in hardship in compliance to the FDIC. In my experience with Navient I've only been provided the opportunity to utilize a forbearance or interest payment only. In XXXX, I paid on my loan during the COVID grace period for the amount that was required so I could pay down my loan on the principal once the grace period was over. I allowed automatic payments due to the " program '' I was in prior to the lockdown to bring me current in my loans. Once payments resumed consecutively, I noticed that my monthly payments were not doing much for my principal and contacted Navient to inquire about my balance in XXXX. I was informed that they the payments they took out did not go towards a full payment to bring my balance down but was put aside to pay past due amounts that accrued during the student loan pause for XXXX and XXXX. I did not agree to those terms and asked for the amount that I've paid towards my loan. The representative could not tell me due to her not having the calculations available. I requested for my payment history to be sent to me and in XXXX of XXXX, I received a payment history along with a partial promissory note. I decided to go back from XXXX to present day to compare discrepancies and I strongly believe Navient/XXXX are all the same company and have exploited my living conditions and credit score to bind me to a loan that I believe no longer exists. In XXXX, my XXXX became deathly ill from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. He was misdiagnosed by his primary care physician with the XXXX and contained to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for 21 days. I also had a XXXX XXXX XXXX daughter at the time and we all lived in the hospital for those 21 days. My son currently suffers from incurable XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX delays. At the time I was advised from my teachers to resign from school because of how deadly my son 's condition would be. I have expressed, explained and pleaded with Navient to help me with the payments but they always told me there was nothing they could do beside forbearance and interest only.B. I've tried to make as many payments before I became aware of their deceiving and illegal practices. If there is anything extra that is needed from me please notify me so I can provide any extra documents you may need. Thank you XXXX XXXX

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: During my time with Navient which I believe took over Sallie Mae, I was constantly taken in circles from 2002 and on. At one point my loans were consolidated after I agreed because my loan payment was going to be affordable. Which it was not. In addition, during the life of my loans I would call and attempt to get in a payment plan that was affordable to my living situation. I would call asking to be entered into this plan by giving my information and income, I would be quoted a number, they would put my plan in deferment or forbearance, pending my paperwork. I would submit all necessary information and upon time for my payment, it would be most often triple or quadruple what I was quoted. I would call and again ask for help and again the process would start over. Every time period in-between my account is collecting interest. My amount of my current loan is thousands and thousands of dollars more than what I even started with due to this deception. They never had any intention of finding an appropriate plan I feel.

Consumer Complaint: I recieved a loan from Sallie Mae, Now Navient, in XXXX. Earlier this year loans such as mine were deemed fruadulent and the Federal Government stated that Sallie Mae should cancel the loans. The criteria was that the loan be subprime OR from a list of schools, mine was on the list of Schools. The loan must have been from XXXX to XXXX, mine was from XXXX. It must have been discharged before XX/XX/XXXX, mine was discharged in XX/XX/XXXX. The barrow must have been from one of XXXX states, California included which has always been my state of residence. Sallie Mae XXXX Navient, has refused to cancel my loan, they are currently saying that I owe {$81000.00}. This is preventing me from purchasing a house as it shows that my debit to income ratio is to high. I have spoken to Navient and XXXX XXXX as well as the collection agency and specifically XXXX XXXX. They claim that my credit score at the time of lending was too high. However the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, was specifically named as being a school that was part of the group commiting fruadulent lending practices and should have never been offered as a loan. There was state and federal law enforcement actions were taken against the school. The loans deemed preditory in nature. I am trying to get this resolved as the stress associated with it has caused me to be given XXXX XXXX XXXX and my therapist has even deemed that I would be elegible for a service dog due to my increasing XXXX XXXX. Other than the stuff around the limitation due to these loans there is nothing that triggers these XXXX XXXX

I checked my credit recently and its at an all time low because of the reports from Navient. No one from Navient contacted me about being reported. I calles Navient several times in the year and told them I was waiting on announcements from the federal govt about my loan to make payments. I explained to them I am know a XXXX father and live off of an XXXX income. I was told that this was fine and if I need help to contact them. No representative ever mentioned sending me to the collections agency. Can someone please help me get this removed from my credit scores. This is not right. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I recently have been receiving emails requesting my information regarding a co-signer release affidavit form through Navient. It should be of note that I have been receiving these requests for years from Navient. Among these requests I feel as though Navient deceived its borrowers by capitalizing on low income/impoverished homes who didnt have a strong sense of financial literacy. To date, my private loans continue to compound via crippling interest. I continue to make payments in the hopes that I will be able to make progress. I would appreciate the CFPB to investigate the former and current proceedings that Navient is doing. I believe that myself and thousands of others have been exploited by this private lender, and have nothing to show but debt.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I logged into my Navient web account for Federal Loans and made a small payment due XX/XX/2022. At this time, I received a message that I need to update my account information. For some reason my " cell phone number '' was " removed/invalid '' and completely missing. However, it was there the last time I logged into my Navient web account. I received calls last week FROM NAVIENT TO my cell number XXXX. Again, I did received calls FROM Navient last week at XXXX. I returned the call " outgoing '' to Navient on XX/XX/2022 ( see image snapshots of the truth of my words to this complaint ). This is indicated in my last CFPB concern, which is documented. Therefore, sometime between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX someone removed my cell phone number from my Navient web account. I have had the same cell phone number for years. Per the legal agreement between Navient and I, I am to keep all contact information current, and it was until it was removed by someone else, other than me. My street address, email address, and cell phone number have not changed. I am documenting that someone removed my cell phone number from my Navient web account. I have been complying by keeping all contact information correct and current. My cell phone number was removed in the period of XX/XX/2022 to XX/XX/2022. Please review the image snapshots for validation. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I had a student loan with XXXX XXXX back in 2003 for {$10000.00}. The loan was sold as years went by to Navient. I have been paying this loan since 2003 and it seems I have more than paid off this loan but still have a balance per Navient. I have been receiving calls at my home and work outside normal business hours ( they were not given permission to call my work as this jeopardizes my job ). I am now getting tons of past due letters as I have ceased to pay any more. It seems my payments were not being applied or were miss-applied and then late fees were applied. This is disappointing and confusing, and I wish for the balance they are saying I owe be cancelled and my account brought current with zero balance as I have added up over the years and have more that paid back this loan. In fact, it looks like Navient owes me a refund.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: This is hurting my credit score which is very important to me. I know you will understand me in this situation this is becoming a frustration to me. I don't know what's happening to my credit report and I don't how you guys come up to this conclusion and report it on my credit report. This is very stressful for me because I always pay on time. Under 15 USC 1666b this billing error must be corrected because I always pay on time this is clearly a discrepancy on this account which clearly violates the 15 USC 1666 ( b ). Not only was I never late on this account, but according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), the information furnisher is required to notify me of the insertion of negative listings. Since I have disputed the lates with the creditor, and you obviously " verified '' them, I am very curious as to what kinds of " records '' you may have for this alleged account. I am very confident that you are in violation of the ( FCRA ) and ( FCBA ) sections ( 1666, 1666a. 1666b., and 1666c. ) as stated in the law. NAVIENT XX/XX/2007
