Consumer Complaint: The customer service for M & T bank is not forthcoming with correct or full information. We were offered the pay XXXX options which we decided to take and set up our checking accout to pay half of our mortgage ever 2 weeks. our XXXX payment was sent but they posted it completely to principal. once our XXXX payment was made it was then held and questioned as to where the rest of our monthly pymt was. so another rep called us and ask and i explained we made XXXX pymt 2 weeks prior. they saw pymt but stated they dont do biweekly pymts once i explained that previous rep told me they do they stated no you have to use a company to do a bi-saver program. we had already used a company before and asked if we could use them but they stated no we had to use M & T only. was told fee was {$170.00} and they would start the drafts. so we paid and then when no pymt was removed from our account we called them. they stated fee was {$330.00} and we needed to pay rest before they could start. again i told them that was not what was told but they stated nothing they could do. so i stated then give me my money back and they said they couldnt do that either. so of course we paid the remaining balance to start the bi saver progam just to find out it was out sourced and that we could have used our original company and not had to pay addition fees. that was just XXXX issue with them. Each time we speak to a rep we get different information from XXXX rep to another. we got to a point where we only ask for supervisors ( which really isnt any better ) if we need to speak to them. we also had issue with the ach withdraw from them. they stated they tried to pull money from our bank and our bank had a hold on their name and wouldnt release funds to them. they refused to take ach pymt or check from our bank until the " block '' was removed. spoke to our bank and there was no such hold. even had our rep from our bank ask to have a XXXX way conversation with them to find out what was issue and M & T would not get on phone with my bank. they wanted something in writing from my bank before they would use them. there was nothing our bank could do. we waited 2 weeks and i paid a direct pymt from my bank to m & t and they accepted pymt. when i called them and asked what changed they stated our bank must have done something which was not true it was m & t that removed the block to get my pymt when they called late and passed 30 days which now has affected our credit rating. even when i contacted them stating i dont want to be dinged on our credit report for whatever clitch they had they stated it was not reported. no today we have pulled our credit report and it was indeed reported in XXXX 2015. i just got off the phone with a " supervisor '' who stated sorry there is nothing we can do your pymt was late. i went over everything, every little issue with her and still they refuse to do anything for their miscommunication, misguided information and misrepresentation their company has given us since day XXXX of buying our mortgage. which of course now we would have never ... .never used them. Now more then ever we would love to refinance and leave them but cant due to the ding they gave us in XXXX. i dont feel this company should handle mortgages to anyone. we are middle class hard working people who rely on companies to tell us everything we need to know in order to make good financial decisions and M & T is not XXXX of those companies. the only saving grace i have right now is that we have the bi saver program now so i dont have to deal with m & t representatives. as soon as we can get our score back to where it needs to be to refinance our home we will just to leave m & t bank. most people refinance for other reasons, ours will be just to not allow M & T bank to benefit from us every again.

Consumer Complaint: Over the past few years, we have had a difficult time paying our Mortgage with Hudson City Bank due to loss of employment. Note : Hudson City does not fall under the US HARP program. During this time, Hudson City would not lower our mortgage interest rate despite numerous attempts to work with them. We also requested help from other financial institutions, but as we were current on our mortgage we could not qualify. Due to this situation, we could not be current on both our taxes and our mortgage. Over the course of a few years, we regained stable employment and our incomes have increased and however, Hudson City rolled our back taxes into our mortgage and rendered the monthly mortgage payment impossible to pay, despite the fact that we can now pay our taxes plus mortgage and a small portion of our back taxes. With new funds now coming in and increased salaries, we can make it work, but not under this new monthly payment. We attempted to send our mortgage payment + taxes into Hudson City, and they refused to accept this payment as they deemed it partial. Our actual mortgage was {$2200.00} our taxes appx {$900.00}, our check was for {$3300.00}. We are desperate for a resolution, be it rolling the back taxes into the final sale of the house, lowering the interest rate of the mortgage, or longer terms ... every time we discuss this with Hudson City Bank, each person states that it is not their department. We can not get to the correct department to find a resolution to this problem. We now will have to spend money seeking legal counsel for a foreclosure lawyer, rather than this bank working with us to assist in a better solution.

Consumer Complaint: I fell behind on my mortgage and applied for a refinance/bailout with M & T bank. I was approved, signed/notarized all the documents, and returned them to the bank XXXX 2015. I apparently missed a signature page and M & T resent the documents without informing me. Someone signed for the documents that does not belong to my household. I have personally experienced mailmen and UPS people switch the numbers of the house and deliver other peoples mail to me. I tried to express to M & T that it was not me who signed for the documents. but they will not resend the documents to me. Instead, I need to reapply.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, Our house was mortgaged by XXXX XXXX XXXX then M & T Bank bought the mortgage from them. All during this time that they have owned the loan every year they we receive ANNUAL ESCROW ACCOUNT DISCLOSURE STATEMENT FROM THEM. They always send us a shortage coupon and always try to XXXX our property taxes, when our taxes have only gone up {$16.00} this year. Our property taxes are for this residence and the adjoining lot which is {$590.00} for this year. M & T Bank want 's to raise the property tax that they collect from us to {$1000.00} This happens every year with them and we have to fight with them and then we have to call them and they state they will have to research it. XXXX XXXX XXXX stated to us that the PMI on our loan could be dropped after 5 years as long as we did n't have any missed payments or late payments. Which we have made every payment and not been late with it. I have been trying for the last 3 years to get M & T to drop the PMI and they state that we have to have a 80 % Loan to Valuation ratio and we are at 80.6 % and the lone is close to 8 years.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I obtained a mortgage from XXXX Bank to retain ownership of a residence due to divorce. ( loan no. XXXX ) In XX/XX/XXXX I was unable to pay taxes and insurance for my home to to illness, the death of a partner, and financial problems related to an ongoing business. The bank entered into foreclosure action in XX/XX/XXXX, Through out the process I kept the ban informed of other property that I owned that was in litigation. The property finally sold and I requested the bank 's attorneys an amount to reinstate my mortgage under its reinstatement clause.I recieved a total amount for all costs, payments late charges attorney 's fees for a total of {$66.00}, XXXX. This amount was paid by cashiers check on XX/XX/XXXX Sometime in XX/XX/XXXX the mortgage was assigned to M & T bay who has used XXXX XXXX as a servicing agent. the principal balance due at that time was {$56000.00} At the timeof the assignment I was led to believe that the bank would modify my mortgage at the current interest rates. during the first foreclosure It was determined that the residence had substantial hidden leak damage.I used other monies to start reconstruction of the roof and upper story of the home. When I informed the servicing agent that I was in construction for repairs they backed off the mortgage modification and said they could not do anything in the matter or do any refinanciing. The Bank then raised my monthly payments to roughly {$1800.00} per month which I could not pay. They then created a scheme of charging me for late payments and interest on payments they claimed were due in XX/XX/XXXX and the last statement indicated that I owed over {$92000.00}. The bank filed a XXXX foreclosure in XX/XX/XXXX. This new foreclosure has halted the reconstuction on the property because I ca n't get any financing or refinancing to work the construction From a principal balance of {$56000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX I now owe over $ XXXX.in XXXX months. I bought the residence in XX/XX/XXXX it has a market analysis value of between {$950.00} to {$980000.00} It is roughly an acre of land with a natural beasch at the waterfron and the road side of the property faces a small park.

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage company had changed from XXXX to M & T Bank in XXXX 2015. The new mortgage company has been a living nightmare every since. I open up my XXXX statement and they are stating that my mortgage was going to go up by an additional {$300.00} a month. I freaked out and got on the phone with them and they gave me their text book reason that my tax information has went up. I advise them they were charging me to separate taxes when our taxes here in XXXX GA is combined for a total taxes and fees. I tried to explain this to someone and they still want me to pay {$1700.00} and an extra {$150.00} on my mortgage. I would like for you to force the bank to redo their analysis because they are adamant their not have the right information. I even requested that they call the tax office here in XXXX, GA to verify their taxes are combined in accordance to my recent tax statement.

Issue: Deposits and withdrawals

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: On or around XX/XX/XXXX, I opened a free checking account with Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company, in speaking to a vice president of a small branch, he also signed me up for a free interest bearing savings at that time. I never put much in it because I had another savings that I did an auto deduct from my paycheck and paid a slightly higher yield. I began using the MT savings more when I lost my job and had to rent my house, at which time I put money in the account that was given to me as a security deposit. XX/XX/XXXX, due to my job loss and lack of income, my boyfriend added his name to my checking account in order to keep the account open and for me to have some sort of checking account, HIS NAME was the only change, not the type of accounts, checking and savings, the account # XXXX are the same as before. I didnt use the account much and XX/XX/XXXX, I noticed withdrawals coming out of the savings associated with the free checking which had never happened previous to my adding My boyfriends name to the checking account. So why if all they did was add his name to my free checking would they change my savings account ( I have my old statements with no fees ) from a no fee account to one with fees and why would I ever agree to that when I had a small savings at XXXX? I told them on the phone at that time to stop the charges immediately this was a free savings account and I never agreed to this. They told me I had to come in, which I did and this was supposed to be cleared up. It was not and the deductions continued, I called again, this time I had been injured and could not come into the bank and my boyfriend tried to inquire about it but he doesnt handle the account so I had to wait. I eventually brought him into the bank with me and spoke to a manager who refused to change the account back the my original type of account, informing me that this account would be credited the fees and to keep a balance of XXXX which I had. What she did not tell me was that the next day, they were going to offset my boyfriends solo overdrawn account ( which was mostly fees-every couple of days- his boss could not pay him ) with my savings account, which was n't even my money. So as far as I am concerned, the bank was very sneaky and not forthcoming in their handling of the handling of the savings account and its fees on more than one occasion, and when the bank manager had the opportunity to discuss with me fees and the overdraft account, she neglected to tell me about something called an " offset '' which could occur on my account. Which again, is sneaky and as far as I am concerned, unethical. The bank is there to protect your money, not steal it. Most banks are like this and its difficult to find a good bank. But as mad as I have been at other banks I can say I had some hand in whatever happened. But not this, they took money from my account for over a year without my consent. I repeatedly asked them to stop. They refused, crediting the account once ( XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX. But then taking XXXX the next day for a debt I did not owe and money that wasnt even mine, which I had a discussion with the manager about when at the bank while with my boyfriend. I explained this money was rental escrow and they had to stop removing funds from this account. But the way they did it was ridiculous as well, they waited on his account adding fees until he had exactly what I had in my savings and then XXXX balanced his account with my money. Then charged my savings again another XXXX after I told them to stop it. Also why didnt they previously tell me the account had to have a XXXX balance to avoid the charges.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX my account was deducted {$690.00} for XXXX separate purchases at a gas station in XXXX, PA. The same day, I was contacted by M & T Bank notifying me of this charge and asking if I was in the area & if it was legitimate. I told them it was not. Nothing happened for over 2 months until I happened to notice on my e-statement that the charge was still there - I called in to inquire and was told that I did not submit a formal fraud claim therefore nothing happened. At that time, I notified them that I would like to submit it formally ( despite having thought I already did ). They then debited my added back the amount on XXXX as requested. I thought this was over. On XXXX I received a notice in the mail that the amount that was debited was being reversed and to financially plan accordingly. I had no idea what was happening. I instantly called my local branch to inquire - they pointed me to the fraud department. The fraud department, a few hours later, informed that I had not filled out the required paperwork. Despite explaining that no one had ever sent me paperwork or had informed me of this requirement, they still said there was nothing I could do unless I could sign the paperwork that day. Unfortunately, I could not get to a branch as it was already past XXXX. On XXXX the amount was deducted ( again ) from my account. After calling the fraud department again, I was told they needed to mail me documentation to fill out and it should be arriving in 5-7 business days. After 7 business days I called to follow up because I had not received anything. They told me they would need to resend if I had n't received. However, the representative told me that it would be quicker to go into a branch because of the mailing delay. Due to my work schedule, I requested that he mail it anyway because that was not feasible for me. He refused. It took a formal request to speak with a manager before they would send the documentation the second time via mail. After another 7 business days with no documentation in the mail, I decided to drive into my local branch, on a Saturday, rather than fighting with the Fraud department again. In the local branch, I was told they do not have any documentation to submit a formal request - they had to request it from the Fraud department themselves. Since that department is closed on Saturdays, there was nothing they could do so I 'd have to come back in. The only silver lining was we were able to find an additional charge of {$230.00} from XXXX that was also fraudulent. The following week I was able to submit my formal request via fax back and forth from my local branch ( for all XXXX charges ). I was told it would be reviewed in 5-10 business days. As I am writing this, it has now been 12 business days. I have been told on a daily basis that the fraud department is still reviewing but that I can not speak to anyone in the Fraud department. There are no updates. The only thing I have been told is that I will not be refunded with any interest on the {$930.00} despite the fact that M & T Bank has held MY MONEY in XXXX stints for a total of 90+ days. ( apparently this is because it was a fraud request a non-interest bearing checking account - they refuse to acknowledge that I had to transfer money from my Money Market to cover the shortages ).

Consumer Complaint: M & T Bank allowed XXXX to charge my debit card in the amounts of XXXX on XXXX/XXXX/2015 ( XXXX late fee ) & XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX autopurchase ) I contacted the bank and advised these were unauthorized charges and disputed the charges. I was given a provisional credit for the charges only to have it reversed and M & T sending me a letter stating the charges were not in error. They also send me a invoice for a purchase my daughter had made on XXXX/XXXX/2015 for XXXX with her amozon account information and email address. Not my account nor did I made a purchase from amozon anytime this year. The book was purchased using my daughter account with amozon and other means as this was not a purchase with my debit card nor did I authorize the withdraws and still am disputing these charges. M & T Bank 's representatives stated many times because XXXX has my account information from a prior purchase they can withdrawn the funds from my account? How can they take money from my checking account and the bank allows this without my authorization just because they have my information. M & T sent me a invoice to show me the reason for the charges was a purchase on XXXX/XXXX/2015 using XXXX XXXX account at amozon in the amount of {$26.00} dated XXXX/XXXX/2015 and shipping slip for XXXX/XXXX/2015 and they reversed the credit for a book that my daughter must have bought with her debit card ( no charge on my account for a book on XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX for the initial rental. I do n't think because the company had my information they should take it out of my account because we have the same address and they assume I have a book? This is not my purchase. The bank should reverse the debit to my account from amozon and not allowed this to happen. I want my money taken from my account returned as they took it without authorization to do so just because they had my account information? That does not make it ok
