Consumer Complaint: We opened a checking account for my daughter at M & T Bank in XXXX XXXX prior to her going to college in XXXX. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX they charged her XXXX separate insufficient funds fees. She contacted them and told them that she had not made the charges, that her account information must have been compromised as she had been using the debit card for some electronic transactions for school text books. M & T Bank concluded that since the card was in her possession she must have made the charges and refused to acknowledge any possibility that her account had been compromised. They are now attempting to collect the " debt '' of insufficient funds fees AGAIN. 1. I can not find any indication that we had signed up for them to overdraft the account in case of insufficient funds - THE CHARGES SHOULD HAVE BEEN DENIED RATHER THAN PASSED THROUGH. 2. The bank charged NSF fees 4 times in the same day - again, the card should have been declined!!

Consumer Complaint: We met with an employee ( relationship banker ) at M & T who calculated our eligibility for a home equity line of credit to be {$40000.00}. She assured us that with our excellent credit processing was a mere formality. After delay in hearing about our line of credit I stopped into the bank and was told that she had " miscalculated '' and we were only eligible for {$12000.00} line of credit.

Consumer Complaint: My mortgage account was transferred from XXXX XXXX XXXX to M & T Bank a few years ago. In 2015, I was experiencing some income challenges and fell behind in my payments. From XX/XX/2015 through XX/XX/2015, with XXXX grace, I was able to pay off the agreement with them. This was to clear ALL debt due and I was to start fresh for the new year, per their Mortgage Assistance Department. This never happened. My XX/XX/XXXX bill included additional " past charges '' that there Customer Service Department insisted were still due. To make matters worse, I changed mortgage insurance from XXXX to XXXX in XX/XX/2015. I contacted all parties ; bank and both insurance companies however, the mortgage still reflected the higher XXXX premium for XX/XX/XXXX. I paid that month, hoping that the corrections would be made the next month. They were not. I called and was told that whichever department that processes insurance changes had not done so. In the meantime, I was to pay the excess charges, since the bill was sent already, and I would be reimbursed. I told the young lady, to whom I was speaking to, that that made no sense to send money that I do n't have or owe. She stated that there was nothing she could do. I sent the payment with the new premium amount for XX/XX/XXXX. Later that month, I received a check from M & T Bank for the XX/XX/XXXX overage that I had paid. The next month, my bill still carried the old premium and again, I did not pay that portion in XX/XX/XXXX. Since that time, the bank has been carrying that old premium as something I owe, which I do not. I have not spoken with the bank as each time I had in the past, the person receiving the call speaks to me as though I am at fault and gave no credence to anything that I have tried to explain. I discovered yesterday, in checking my credit report, that they have been reporting to them, 30-day late payments ever since XX/XX/XXXX despite my monthly on-time payments! This has reflected negatively on my credit rating and has caused me to be declined for a car loan, which I now desperately need!

Consumer Complaint: I have got no resolve from MT bank yet, and they just keep sending that same letter over and over. Their statements and claims are false, and I have a copy of my statement showing I did have funds at the time my money was stolen! I stated I had no funds when asked, because it was the truth! I had called to check my balance and that 's when I found out my funds were stolen and my debit was missing from my wallet. When I call I do not enter my debit card number, I enter my account number because i know by memory and do n't have to reach for my wallet all the time. The letter they sent states false statements that I made! It 's crazy they are still denying me my stolen money, and especially that I have all the proof I had funds and more! I need and want my money back! They have ruined the holidays for me and my family, but I refuse have them deny me my stolen money! This bank is the worse, and the people working there even worse. They are not there to help you, but make things even more difficult on you, and getting your stolen funds back!

Consumer Complaint: After a previous complaint on XX/XX/XXXX regarding the amount of time M & T Mortgage was taking to complete the foreclosure on my FHA-back property, the bank moved very quickly to convey the property back to HUD. I followed up with the FHA Resource Center on the status of the matter, and on XX/XX/XXXX, I received the attached communication confirming the conveyance of the property and that the insurance claim for the house was paid on XX/XX/XXXX. As you can also see, FHA is requesting additional information to support my request for a CAIVRS Suppression, because they are using the XX/XX/XXXX date to start the 3 year wait before I can qualify for another federally-backed mortgage ; not the actual foreclosure sale date of XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately contacted M & T Mortgage requesting a disposition of the account to include 1 ) the foreclosure sale date, 2 ) the date the property was conveyed back to HUD, 3 ) the date the insurance claim for the mortgage was paid to them, and 4 ) what, if any is their financial interest in the property or me as of the date of my call in an effort to add that to my request for a CAIVRS suppression. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received to attached communication from M & T saying they could not honor my request, and referred me to the XX/XX/XXXX document, also attached, but clearly no longer relevant in light of the recent actions on the account.

Consumer Complaint: just got off the phone with a representative named, XXXX. I explained that I received a fee and that it was unfair that I got such fee having requested for overdraft protection and that since my account was new if she would be willing to check into it and possibly refund me over the phone without having inconvenience to go in the branch. I ca n't just take off from work when I please for personal business. Nonetheless, she said that she would try and link the account but, turns out she could not since the account was so new. This is really a shock to me and I do not have money to give away. The money was there and I do not have a debit card yet, as it was promised 3-5 business days. I have never experienced such poor customer service for a mistake that was clearly not mine. I am sure policy does not require such treatment be this was as well. EFT was only used because I did not have a temporary card of some sort to use to have come out right away. Lastly the check was written in hopes of overdraft taking affect and now they want to keep my money, where there was no intentional wrong doing on my behalf.
