Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: For the last 9 months I have not been called by anyone from M & T bank. They reported a repossession on my credit even though the account shows as current in their system. I never missed a payment. XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX do not return calls and they do not give emails. My credit report has shown an incorrect repossession for more than 5 months. This is the worst customer service I ever witnessed in my entire life. Seems like the bank is participating in a conspiracy to intentionally destroy peoples lives.

Consumer Complaint: Shortly after opening my account with M & T bank and funding the account they suspended my bank to bank transfer ability. Over the course of 7+ phone calls with three departments spanning more than a month, they continually told me that my account would be suspended 'by the end of today ' or 'by close of business tomorrow ' and they continued to not make good on this promise. Then after 4 weeks, last week ( the week of XX/XX/XXXX ) my bank to bank transfer was suspended and I was able to transfer money in. Right as I tried to transfer money out they refroze my account and are continuing to tell me 'it will be resolved by the end of the week '. They are refusing to let me transfer out thousands of dollars and won't even let me close the account. Their actions have created a large financial strain for me and they have continued to not make good on their promises to unsuspend my account, while letting my transfer funds in and refusing to let any funds be transferred out.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX, my mortgage loan was bought by M & T.l In XXXX I discovered they never pay my home insurance from escrow because I received a bill from the home insurance company. This is because M & T assigned me their insurance at an higher rate. In XX/XX/XXXX M & T increased my monthly payment from {$2200.00} to {$3500.00}. This was due to an shortage in my escrow. After struggling to make XXXX and XXXX mortgage I reached out to M & T for explanation as to why such a large storage. At first they claimed that my tax rates went up only by a few dollars not thousands. Then they stated there was an lean on my property. This was false. Then there was an outstanding water bill. I reach out to my water company also the county tax departments. There were no proof of any outstanding bill from the water or tax company. Today, XXXX of XXXX M & T continues to force me to pay an extra XXXX more on my monthly mortgage. I was serve with pre foreclosure papers.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: I have been a member of m and t bank for a while. I was recently charged several XXXX dollars in overdraft fees for purchases on this account. I understand that the funds were not available in my account for the transactions, but I don't think its fair or in the best interest of the consumer to have the fees far surpass the amounts of the purchases. for example I was charged a {$38.00} fee for XXXX, but the amount for the subscription was only {$12.00}. there was a {$38.00} fee for XXXX XXXX, but the purchase was only {$13.00}. I got gas at XXXX XXXX for {$10.00}, and {$5.00}, but was charged a {$38.00} for both of those transactions. when I called the bank to see if there could be any reversals they reversed three of the fees which at that time totaled approximately {$240.00}. She also recommended that I turn off the option to not have transactions post if the funds are not available. a day later I received more fees-although I had not used my card for transactions or made any purchases. I had automatic withdrawals set up that were debited from my account which caused four more overdraft fees in the amount of {$38.00}. I called the bank once again this morning to see what could be done since the fees totaled almost {$400.00}. they removed two more. I feel like this financial institution waits to post charges so that they can intentionally acquire overdraft fees.

Issue: Fraud or scam
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Below is overall summary of the event which I have sent in an email to the executives of M & T bank as well as the board members : To Whom It May Concern : This communication is a desperate final measure to resolve a time sensitive issue. M & T Bank has reported three late payments on my credit history in error, which is subsequently impacting my pending mortgage approval to buy my first home with my XXXX fianc. In XX/XX/2018 I moved from XXXX XXXX Pennsylvania to XXXX. Upon moving, I submitted my change of address to M & T Bank in person at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX. In XX/XX/2018 I lost my credit card, reported it missing the next day, and requested that a replacement be mailed to me on the recorded customer service line. After two weeks passed without receiving my card, I called again and was advised that a charge of {$25.00} would appear on my card for the expediting a second replacement, but would return as a credit since the error was made on M & Ts behalf. The {$25.00} charge was placed on my card, never reimbursed, and I never received the card. After 3 days passed, I called the M & T customer service line to inquire about its whereabouts and was told that it had been delivered. I was informed yet again that I would be charged a {$25.00} expedition fee, but would be reimbursed for M & Ts mistake. The card never arrived at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX PA XXXX. After 3 more business days passed, I called a fourth time and finally discovered that my change of address was entered into the system incorrectly by an employee at the aforementioned XXXX XXXX XXXX as XXXX XXXX XXXX which does not exist, causing my card to default back to my previous address, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX. I was instructed to go into a branch in person to correct this error, receive a refund for the multiple expedition fees, and to finally obtain my replacement credit card which I had been without for over a month at this point. When I did so, the branch manager would not help me and I was directed back to the customer service line. Ultimately, my decade long tenure as a client with M & T Bank came to an end as every employee I spoke to both over the phone and in person refused to help me. I switched banks and gave up the fight over the {$50.00} not knowing that M & T Bank had submitted 3 separate past due claims for my remaining balance of {$8.00} during the time this went unresolved despite being owed more than my remaining balance by M & T. Now, as I am attempting to purchase my first home, I am discovering that M & Ts error is reducing my credit score by roughly 50 points and negatively impacting my mortgage rate. It is my hope that you are able to bring this to a quick resolution rather than have this drag on for months, as it would prevent further unnecessary use of time and resources for all parties. My next steps will involve the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Respectfully, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Improper use of your report
Subissue: Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Consumer Complaint: I had been looking at what mortgage products banks offered in XXXX of XX/XX/2019. I had authorized M & T Bank to run my credit at that time ( which they did ) and they provided me what they believe I would qualify for. I did not pursue anything with them as the mortgage product they suggested did not interest me. On XXXX XXXX, about a month later, i recieved an email from a gentleman named XXXX XXXX with a pre-approval attached. I had found out that my credit had been run again on XXXX XXXX without my authorization and it negatively effected my credit. I emailed XXXX and he stated that it was run a second time in error ( the first was authorized by me in XXXX ) and the report would be deleted but it still effected my credit.
