Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: My wife and I leased a XXXX XXXX in XXXX of XXXX. We paid the lease on time for 39 consecutive months until XX/XX/XXXX when we turned it in. The vehicle was immaculate but we went over the miles. In XXXX, they sent us a {$5300.00} ill for the vehicle. Mileage fee, Registration fee, Dealer Prep fee and {$950.00} dollars of " damage '' which based on the pictures they sent appeared to be minor scratches which the dealer never mentioned when we returned the vehicle. We disputed ONLY the " damage '' and they refused to adjust it and they reported the account as " Charged Off '' in XXXX. In late XXXX, after at least ten calls and at least 5 hours combined of sitting on hold, I finally got an agreement to drop {$270.00} off the {$950.00} " damage ''. I made my first payment of {$850.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and my final payment of {$1000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX ( grand total {$5100.00} paid with then removing the {$270.00} ). I have called them an additional 10 plus times and even have a letter from the indicating the account had a XXXX balance as of XX/XX/XXXX. They, however continue to report my account as a charge off ( it was paid off and was not a settlement ) with a {$270.00} balance remaining. I have already lost a full percentage point trying to refinance my mortgage waiting for this to be resolved. This seems completely unfair that they can leverage their financial might against consumers unabated.
