Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2016 I purchased a used XXXX 2016 from XXXX of XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Il XXXX ) and financed by GM Financial. The car price was {$9200.00} the APR was 9.90 % and the terms were 71-months. I have been aggressively sending payment above my minimum payment. As of today, I believe that my total balance should be {$0.00} but GM Financial Statements keep showing a balance of {$1000.00}. I have communicated with GM Financial about this issue and they have not made any adjustments. I have proof of payment and any additional information you need to help me clear this problem with the lender.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Termination fees or other problem when ending the lease early

Consumer Complaint: I have been doing business with GM Financial for years. I currently have four leases with them and pay them {$2600.00} per month in lease payments. I got out of a lease early and leased another GM through GM Financial. In breaking with their past practices, they only forgave 6 payments as opposed to the 8 payments that they agreed upon. In addition, they stopped billing me in XXXX of 2018. Not knowing why I owed and expecting a bill, I sent them {$500.00} per month. They just dinged my credit report with a 60-90 reporting which is totally false and they also owe me {$1900.00} - two lease payments at {$950.00} each that they agreed to waive if I continued doing business with them. I tried to resolve this issue directly with GM financial and not one of the 4 workers I spoke to could find information on this account.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: I have been extremely frustrated at the handling of my account with GM Financial. They are penalizing me for an error they caused. Early in 2018 they notified me in writing of a payment posting error that caused a payment to be applied to my account multiple times. This made the subsequent billing statements be incorrect, and have an incorrect amount due on the invoice. I received a billing statement, and the balance it stated was due was paid on time. In XXXX, I received a letter dated XX/XX/2018 that stated the error from months before led to incorrect billing statements, and it encouraged me to contact them to make sure everything is current and correct. I immediately called GM Financial and spoke with a gal that updated me on my account. We went over the total amount due to make the account current, because apparently it was behind due to their incorrect billing statements. It was almost 3 payments past due, so I was given the date of XX/XX/2018 to bring the account current and was assured that no late fees would be applied, and was assured that no derogatory or late payments would be reported to my credit reports. As of XX/XX/2018, I paid the remaining amount ( 8 days early ) and thought this ordeal was over. Well it was not. They are incorrectly reporting me late. They are reporting me 60 days late as of XX/XX/2018 and 30 days late as of XX/XX/2018. Please see attached. I have tried to call on numerous occasions and spoke with several different GM Financial reps and they all either do not seem to understand this is their fault, or are unable to explain correctly how this is even remotely fair. I am beyond upset and disappointed that I have to spend this massive amount of man hours trying to clear up my good name and excellent payment history. I am being damaged tremendously and have received several adverse action notices from new creditors due to this GM financial error.

Consumer Complaint: I'm not an expert on this and I'm not sure how this can happen. I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report and found late payment on the dates below on my XXXX account. I made the payment but apparently it's not getting applied correctly. XX/XX/2018 XX/XX/2018 XX/XX/2018 I am not sure how this happened, I believe that I had made my payments to you when I received my statements. My only thought is that my monthly statement did not get to me.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: XXXX lease had system errors in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX causing statement to be incorrect due to credits to customers accounts that never occurred. So XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX statements were asking for incorrect payment amounts, lower than actual payment. We were unaware of this and made on time payments based on the statements received. In XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX contacted me via phone asking for payments on the delinquent balance. I asked my wife at same time and she confirmed all payments have been made via online banking. XXXX asked for proof so we sent them proof of payments for payments made since XX/XX/XXXX. I sent them the proof within a few hours and did not hear back from them until a few weeks later and again they were asking me for delinquent payments. I told them I sent in requested documentation that established this. They stated it wasnt good enough proof and wanted certified copies. Took a month or so for them to accept and actually find the money we paid because the money we were paying during those months were not being credited to our account. Also, they now admitted there was a system error and finally came clean about it as that was the first we time we had heard of it. We finally understood the situation and paid the remaining balance for the " partial '' payments in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX incorrectly reported to my credit that two payments were late and later extended that to four months. No late fees EVER charged as they admitted their error and they were reporting late payments when there was clearly a dispute occurring as we felt we made the payments based on what XXXX sent us. In every statement to that point there was never any induction that any money was owed, no late payments showing and under the section of " Past due '' the amount was always sowing ZERO. We had no indication that something was wrong and even during the process of having XXXX explain to us, they were not forthcoming with the information initially. I also asked XXXX of the supervisors early in the process about having this effect my credit and he stated it wouldn't because this was a system glitch on their end and they are taking care of it. Have tried multiple time for them to report correctly and they refuse. I get multiple different stores that they will fix and then they refuse to remove. Multiple times I have talked to XXXX and on the recorded phone lie one manager states its an easy removal because it was their error and I will receive a letter stating that but one never arrives. I call back and find out they have denied and the reporting will stand. This has caused me to lose my refinance on my home. I have explained to them its being reported in error as there was a system failure on their part, which they have always agreed occurred, but wont budge. I ask them if my payment was late why were no late charges incurred and they have no answer. One of the supervisors I spoke with told me no late charges would be filed because of their error. I just get the runaround and never the same answer and they never do what they say they will like send me communication.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with fees charged

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a vehicle in XX/XX/2014 through GM Financial. I received my first bill in XX/XX/2014 with a due date of XX/XX/2014. I made my payment timely but was then contacted and told my account was delinquent and I had a payment due on XX/XX/2014, and the XX/XX/2014, was my second payment due. I contacted GM Financial and explained to them that I never received a bill for XX/XX/2014 and the XX/XX/2014 was the first one I received which I paid on time. They told me I was delinquent and had to pay the XXXX payment. I told them it was not my error but theirs and I intended to make my payments on time starting with the one I just made and that they should just consider that Payment 1 since that was the first one they billed me for. They insisted I make the XXXX payment. I told them if I could pay a double payment I'd have bought a more expensive car. I made 3 phone calls trying to resolve this and spoke to supervisors but I got the same response. They insisted I make the payment even though it was their mistake. I finally sent them a letter saying I would continue making my payments timely but I could not and would not make the payment they failed to bill me for. I have now made my 60 payments, every one of them on time, and they still have a balance due because they charged me a late fee every month plus interest. They have also now reported it as late to my credit reports, which they did not do until I made all of my payments.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: urned in my XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX lease with GM financial in XX/XX/XXXX under the provisions of the SCRA. Received confirmation of the lease turn in XX/XX/XXXX after several attempts to contact GM. Received multiple statements from GM claiming that we owed money on the remaining payments while I was deployed to the XXXX XXXX. GM financial told us multiple times to disregard the statements that our account would be fixed since it was turned in under SCRA. In XX/XX/XXXX we went to purchase some land and saw that we were shown as having late payments on our account for several months after the car had already been turned in under SCRA. After several attempts ( probably 20 or so ) contacting GM Financial and talking to multiple customer service reps and managers we were assured that our account had been corrected. As of today XXXX XXXX the account still shows 60 days late on all three credit reporting agencies with updated dates inXX/XX/XXXX despite GM telling me that their system shows it being cleared with no late payments. I have been promised that we would get a letter that states the account is incorrect on multiple occasions and have still to receive any letter. This has now cost me hundreds of dollars in additional fees and deposits required to establish new accounts because of the incorrect information. I have been promised for months that the issue would be resolved, yet nothing has been done to correct the issue. I was told to dispute the information that it must be incorrect with the credit reporting agency. I did dispute with XXXX which returned with an affirmation from GM Financial that the information was correct.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: My credit report reflects a hard inquiry with XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/18. I did not make any hard inquiries and have not authorized my credit to be ran for any transactions. After calling XXXX, I was told that my credit was ran at a XXXX XXXX in South Carolina. I have not been to any dealerships or made any inquiries. XXXX has been essentially useless in helping to escalate this issue. My credit report has been negatively affected and somebody obviously has my social security number and other personal information.

Issue: Problem with customer service

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX regarding a refund I was suppose to receive from GM financial in the amount of {$3500.00} dollars. I have called multiple times and was told the check has been mailed by multiple employees on XX/XX/XXXX, but I recently called XX/XX/XXXX to find that the check hasnt even been printed. I have requested this refund be processed and overnighted but the employees are refusing to send my refund over night telling me i will receive it by XX/XX/XXXX i called XX/XX/XXXX and the check still hasnt been mailed so there is no way I will receive it by XX/XX/XXXX. So at this point they are holding my refund for no reason and it looks the refund will never be mailed. The same story they keep telling me is the accounting department is back up but i do not believe it should have taken this long nor do I believe its been processed because they have lied to me multiple times.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: I started a lease with GM Financial. I put the lease payment on auto-pay so i can avoid late fees which is the reason for auto pay. It turned out it was only good for 6 months which is something i never heard before, and the representative i spoke with never mentioned that either. When the 6 months passed i was not reminded in any way that the auto pay is no longer there and my account was late for three months. I never got a single phone call from this financial company telling me that my account is past due and asking me why am i not making payments. My credit was perfect before i started the lease with this company and i had 100 % payment history ( i have 3 cars under my name and none of them ever gave me a single problem except for this one ). Also it shows different amount for the payment online and different amount on my paper bill. then i called them they didn't want to help me to remove the late payment that went on my score because of their system and told me it was my fault. i made the payments with the representative and then went and created a new auto-pay for another 6 months. Now I get another late payment on my credit score and my account is on auto-pay. So i do not know what the problem is with their system but because of them i have 4 late payments on my credit history which is bothering my business and my whole life because i get rejected from everywhere I apply. the amount is very little it is only {$140.00} dollars and some change ( which is really no problem for me to pay on time ) I have a lot bigger bills and I am always on time but because of their confusing system i have multiple late payments on my score.
