Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I have been working with GM Financial over the tax bill for my leased ( now purchased XXXX vehicle for taxes incurred in XXXX. I did not receive any notification or paper work in regards to this bill from GM Financial and all of a sudden had debt collectors calling my phone. I responded immediately and spoke with representatives on XX/XX/XXXX and they promised to send the requested paperwork along with all tax forms dating back from the start of the lease. To date I have not received the promised paperwork and received another call from the debt collection agency today. I promptly returned there call and advised I still have not received the required paperwork of proof to pay this bill. I was advised they may not be able to now send me the paperwork and was also unwilling to keep the account on hold even though they could not fulfill there obligation. Due to there negligence and uncooperative nature I will be subjected to my credit being affected. This is an immoral injustice and as a tax paying citizen I have a right to see every tax related bill I have paid and will pay. Please help, thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I had a Auto Loan account with GM Financial. My vehicle was repossessed and sold in 2016. I never received a letter giving me the breakdown on what the vehicle was sold for and the balance. The vehicle was sold for more than what was owed. The balance showing on my credit report is incorrect and needs to be updated and/or removed. I have contacted GM Financial and they has refused to send me the letter showing the total breakdown of the vehicle cost and sold price.

Consumer Complaint: I was divorced in XX/XX/XXXX. In the Settlement Agreement, my ex-wife and I each received certain assets and their related liabilities. One of the assets my wife received was a XXXX XXXX XXXX that was being leased from GM Financial Leasing ( GM ). She assumed the responsibility for the lease, and made the payments following the divorce. She ended up turning the car in early because she had a lot of miles on it, and there were charges related to the early termination that she apparently didnt know about. She acknowledges responsibility for those charges, which are around {$7000.00}. Unfortunately, she never transferred the vehicle out of my name, and when she didnt pay the charges ( which I knew nothing about, and for which I was not responsible ), GM put the default on MY credit record. This is the first negative credit report I have had in my life and my 45+ years of making payments on time. I refinanced my mortgage a few weeks ago, and during that process, learned about the negative charge on my credit report. I can provide you with the notice I received from GM through the mortgage company, and I can also provide the section from our Divorce Settlement Agreement which clearly shows that my wife is responsible for the payments related to the XXXX XXXX lease ( which she does not dispute ), and that she agreed to defend me and hold me harmless for any liability related to it. I need to have this negative charge removed from my credit reports as soon as possible. It is affecting my livelihood, which is commercial real estate development. GM told me that they already written the debt off. If they want to pursue my wife for the balance, that is their choice. She will not fight it ; she has agreed to pay them. I have nothing to do with it, and any negative statement or comment should be completely removed from my credit reports. The rep from GM said that if my wife pays it, they will change my credit record to say " SETTLED. '' That is NOT acceptable.

Consumer Complaint: The car, a XXXX XXXX XXXX, was purchased in XXXX for approximately {$18000.00} with a 6-yr term. The final payment was due to be made in XX/XX/XXXX. They offered a two-month deferment at some point during that period which was accepted. The understanding was that the final payment would now then be due XX/XX/XXXX. With all of the interest and fees, an {$18000.00} car ended up costing in excess of {$36000.00}. On the GM Financial app, there was a countdown to the number of payments that were to be completed for the 72 months. In XXXX it stated there was only one payment left ... I later found out that there was an additional {$6000.00} owed on the vehicle. This seemed impossible provided that I had been paying on the car for 6 years. Upon calling the company, they tried to tell me that the extra {$6000.00} was a result of interest that accrued with the deferment and also late payments along the way. While it is true that I ran into financial difficulties and had a run of late payments, I paid those late payment fees and now I feel like I am being double charged for it. The car, in fair condition, its only worth about {$1200.00}. It makes no sense to pay GM Financial another {$6000.00} on a car that was only purchased for {$18000.00} when they received {$36000.00} for it. I offered to settle with them for the value of the car. They are not willing to accept that. I should not have to pay them anything else!! I am to the point of asking them to just do a voluntary repossession, because theres no justification for paying them any more money for this car that is falling apart! I agreed to continue paying on it in fear that they would come and repossess it if I did not make an agreement. But, I have no intentions of continually making payments for the next year as it DOESN'T MAKE FINANCIAL SENSE!
