Consumer Complaint: I was behind in payments with credit acceptance. The account became 120 days delinquent and they reposed the car at that time. I called the same day that the car was reposed to see what my options were. They explained the process and how much it would be to get my car out and we set up a new payment plan with a new payment date. They still continued to report my account as delinquent to the credit reporting companies even tho I entered into a payment arrangement and made my payments since on time every month.

Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance Corporation has had my account listed as closed since it was transferred to a collection agency back in XXXX it has since been reopened ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and they have recently reported me 120 days past due which is inaccurate since there has been no activity on the account since XXXX. They are not even the ones housing the account it has been sold to a collection agency so they are reporting this illegally to the Bureau per the Fair Credit Reporting Laws .Every time I call them they have a different excuse / dispute process and wont give me a proper timeline to resolve the issue even though i have been told multiple times that the information would be deleted and updated. It should be updated that it is in Collections not 120 days past due.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of this year, I started a journey on trying to purchase my first new home. When my credit was pulled on XX/XX/XXXX, through XXXX only. Three days later, on XX/XX/XXXX, a tri-merge credit report was pulled. Each of these credit pulls had indicated that my charged off loan with Credit Acceptance with a credit rating of a 9. I have been diligently working on the items that are in my control to help get me one step closer. I had completed a long list of actions to help better improve my likelihood of getting approved. Upon completion, I had informed my lender that Id like to re-pull credit to see what progress has been made. On XXXX XXXX, my credit was pulled again. To my surprise, my account with Credit Acceptance went from being a closed account with a 9 rating, to an open account with a 5 rating. I had contacted XXXX, the company that my lender pulled each credit report through. I wanted to request information on my credit profile and ask for a copy of each pull. I was informed that in XXXX, all three bureaus had a collection/charge off reported on this account. Furthermore, it was explained to me that in the months of XXXX and XXXX, all three bureaus have changed the status of this account with a rating of 5 which is 120 days past due. I had requested a copy of my credit report through all three bureaus directly. I went to the section on where soft inquires are conducted and notices a pull from a company named XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I had reached out to this company and refused to provide any of my personal information. I was able to gather that this company can serve as a third-party debt collector who collects on a clients behalf, along with being the owner of debts purchased. I had asked if Credit Acceptance is one of their clients. Albeit the response was vague, the rep stated that shes seen that company before, and then tried again to validate me to see if I had a debt placed in their office. I didnt want to provide this information and kindly ended my call. My lender had reviewed the hard data from each report and had conducted inquiries with a simulator that is provided through XXXX based on my initial report. The score simulations were based on the actions that I had taken since that pull and what the score would be. Being each bureau had this account reflected as closed, the actions the were taken wouldve put me within reach of being pre-approved. He did indicate that the simulators are not a guarantee and that any negative changes could change the outcome of those numbers. He then ran simulations on the new report, doing nothing more than changing the reporting status of Credit Acceptance back to a 9 rating. Per my lender and to my surprise, that action alone simulated my score within five points of the simulations preformed on my XXXX credit pull. I've included a snip of each account to show the differences of each. It seems to coincidental that this status was changed right after my credit was pulled for a mortgage to a rating that has now changed the outcome of what Ive been working towards. With nothing changing on my end, I dont understand how an account went from being closed in XX/XX/2018. I feel that this is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act as this isnt accurate reporting.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a XXXX XXXX XXXX from credit acceptance. Upon me purchasing the vehicle i was told the final asking price was XXXX. I put XXXX down on this car. A couple of months went past with me making on time payments and i believed my balance would be around 8 thousand give or take, I have saved up enough money to inquire about a pay off. This company told me I must pay at the time XXXX to pay the car off. the amount financed was almost double the final asking price!! the dealership failed to show me that and being young i did not pay much attention to it. why am i paying for interest that was not accrued! I'm paying the loan off early so why must i pay for interest that's years away! The blue book value of this car is XXXX, so not only did i purchase this car more than double of its worth, I'm also liable to pay for interest that is years ahead to pay the car off. There is no prepayment penalty. Because I refuse to pay XXXX for a car that is worth XXXX and have XXXX miles on it i decided to buy another car. Now since the car has been sitting in my driveway my credit has taken a huge hit. especially due to personal reasonings and this pandemic iam not able to pay both car loans. I feel like credit acceptance know that iam young and took advantage of my age, There is no way i should have to pay off forecasted interest to pay the car off now when the life of the loan is still substantial. Also i really needed a car back then and did not know i was paying double the bluebook value, and double the interest.

Consumer Complaint: i SPOKE WITH THE LENDER ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR ; HOW IT DOES WORK AND THE PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD BY THE CAR DEALER TO BRING THIS CAR BACK AND THEY WOULD RESELL IT. I TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM FROM THE START SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD NOT HIT MY CREDIT BECAUSE THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM. SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THAT WAS IT ; BUT WHEN I LOOKED AT MY CREDIT THIS CAR WAS ON MY CREDIT STATING THAT I OWE THIS LARGE AMOUNT. THE CAR DEALERSHIP LIED TO ME ABOUT THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE OF ME GIVING THEM BACK THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NOT OWE ANYTHING BECAUSE I TOOK THE CAR BACK. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE CREDIT BUREAU REPORTS I SAW THAT THEY H AVE PUT ON THERE THAT I GAVE THE CAR BACK BUT I STILL OWE. THIS IS WRONG I DO NOT OWE ANYTHING.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Problem with personal statement of dispute
Consumer Complaint: I filed a dispute via XXXX against Credit Acceptance Corp on XX/XX/20. I explained that I felt my balance was going up although I had made payments over what I was required to pay. Credit Acceptance Corp later responded stating that reported the information has certified to XXXX that the information is accurate. Roughly two weeks later, they reported that I was 120 days past due. Although, in the months prior all my payments we reported as on time. I contacted customer service and asked why the didnt report it previously, because according to the FDCPA, they were to report accurate information. I also asked why I was past due and they said because I have fees. After closer inspection I realized they have been posting my payments mostly to their fees and not the principal so they can charge me and collect more interest. So, even though they told me to raise the payments to get caught up they confirmed the payments have nothing to due with their reporting standards for credit reporting. This is a very deceitful practice and should is illegal. Please advise.
