Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, my family member was in need of a vehicle, and I was asked to cosign. Although I was dealing with a XXXX XXXXy on-the-job injury, of which was told to the sales people and others prior to any transactions. I also informed them of the pain medicine that caused me to tire and become incoherent, also my medical condition were very visible, but they continued to be very persistent. The loan finance company of the vehicle is Credit Acceptance Corporation. In or about XX/XX/XXXX the vehicle was in a total loss accident. I filed a claim and later was told that my then insurance company paid off a large percentage of the vehicle, and left a balance, of which I requested payment information, but did not receive any written documentations. Since the vehicle loss, on many occasions I've unsuccessfully requested information of payment and balances Also, during the beginning of the vehicle loss, it was listed as a natural disaster loss and account closed. Throughout time Credit Acceptance has changed this notation on my Credit Reports and reopened the loan also adding more fees to the account. The loan agreement was not completely explained to me, I later learnt the information. The vehicle was a XXXX XXXX XXXX, amount {$15000.00} @ 60 months @ {$450.00} monthly. XXXX

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 I received two alerts indicating that my balance from Credit acceptance INCREASED by {$290.00} and on XX/XX/2020 they also indicated that my balance increased by {$290.00}. This is NOT accurate. My balance actually DECREASED by that amount. I contacted Credit Acceptance DIRECTLY to ask them if they can correct the information and they advised me to file a complaint. This INACCURATE information had DROPPED my credit score by almost one hundred points.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: Back in XXXX, i had all of my information stollen from car. On XXXX, I needed to get a mortgage, but i was denied due to the fact that there was an account on my credit report that was in derogatory status. To my surprise, I purchase my 3 credit bureau and i noticed there was an account that i never authorized. I tried disputing this account several times by sending them my police report ( about 7yrs ago ). And had asked several times to send me proof - they never sent me proof. XXXX have been trying to dispute this account since - without any result!! This year, again, I tried to get a mortgage. this account is affecting my eligibility. I spoke to a manager, the manager asked me, once again, to send proof of my identity theft report or a police report ; ( 5 ) copies of my signature ; copy of diver 's license and social security. I sent them all the information needed along with a dispute letter stating to send me information explaining their findings and actions ( that was was on XX/XX/XXXX ) It literally took then half a day to conclude their investigation. They sent me a voicemail without my phone ringing telling me that they did not have enough information regarding this account.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: There were a couple of disputes over false reporting from Credit Acceptance Corporation and after an investigation, the information was verified as accurate. However, after carefully reviewing all 3 bureaus the information was not only inaccurate but also inconsistent. The account was written off as a bad debt in XXXX and there had been no activity since that time. When the account appeared on my credit report as 120 days delinquent in XX/XX/XXXX I was baffled, because this was a charged off account, so therefore it shouldnt have been reporting a payment history. The reported balance was also incorrect. I settled the account in full in XX/XX/XXXX. Ive included a discrepancy in the reporting from 2 bureaus. How can the information be accurate if its inconsistent?

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Hi, Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint. First I would like it to be noted that I have already dispute this information with the company and credit reporting agencies directly neither have taken action to correct inaccurate misleading information on my credit report. In XXXX of this year I noticed my auto lender Credit Acceptance paused reporting to the 3 major credit agencies. Upon doing some research it was due Covid-19 in a effort to freeze account statues to limit negative impact to their customers experiencing hardships. However I never requested such a freeze and continued to make my monthly payments on time each month as I always have. The very next month XXXX of this year when they resumed reporting I got an alert on a credit monitoring site my account was 120 days past due. After seeing this I immediately new this inaccurate I've made every payment on time and have the bank records to support this fact. I disputed this information with the company and the credit reporting agencies each verified it as accurate even though I attached my bank statements for the months in question XXXX- XXXX and XXXX showing I made my payments on time. Finally today I decided to reach out to credit acceptance by phone they were no help and said I would have to dispute it again even though they did not corrected the first time. I asked the rep to list all the payment dates of the last year she verified I made every payment on time.. and then proceeds to tell the delinquent payment was from the first month I opened the account back in XX/XX/XXXX? and that that's why I got the late payment in XXXX almost 5 years later. I kindly explained to her if my account was delinquent for 5 years they repo 'd the car and I would have been dinged with 30-60-90-120 late payment status a long time ago which you will see in the attached file my account has reported in good standing from the time I go this lone until the time they decided to pause reporting. You will also see the reporting is inconsistent across all 3 reporting agencies for example one of my reports shows 90 days late the next month 120 days late and then next month back down to 60 days late how is this even possible. How can a account be on time in XXXX and then 120 days past due in XXXX when 120 days have not past between periods. I am requesting they remove these misleading inaccurate late payments as it is causing me great hardship I have already been rejected from one lending opportunity because of this please help me correct this misleading information thank you. I have attached my credit report showing my good history until their reporting error as well as my bank statements showing I made my payments on time every month.

Consumer Complaint: I have been trying to get this fraud account taken off my credit and I dont know why the credit bureaus haven't taken it off yet when I have sent multiple letters to them about it. I sent a letter back on the XXXX last month in XXXX and I attached the document of the original letter as well. It looks like it was opened XX/XX/2013 with a balance of {$2600.00}.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX Credit Acceptance Corp. Canceled auto payments that had been reoccurring since XX/XX/XXXX for payments on a vehicle loan. I was not contacted or notified for two months. In XX/XX/XXXX once contacted I talked with a credit Acceptance Corp employee via telephone. I explained no payment should be missed because of the authorized auto payments that were set up to endure the length of the entire loan. She investigated the issue and told me verbally that yes it had been canceled by them and she stated she thought that was strange. However, if I did not pay 11?? ..dollars that my vehicle was already in repo. On principle and what I believe to be repetitive criminal business practices I cooperated with the repo. Upon credit acceptance auctioning the vehicle and including what I paid into the loan they made roughly XXXX dollars on a vehicle window priced at XXXX. Considering their shady practices I consider it a win for them. Yet, they have me in collections for an additional XXXX. This company has many negative reviews on XXXX, XXXX and I assume with your organization as well. Attached is a letter from credit acceptance stated that I had canceled via XXXX XXXX. I had no idea it even went through XXXX XXXX. What good sense financial institution would use a middle man to due transaction outside a bank. It would be much easier for a simple man like myself to call my back to end payments. Perhaps they use XXXX XXXX to allow for the gap to make these claims. I have heard that XXXX XXXX only runs two years of autopay continuously then it has to be reset up. I guarantee. Credit Acceptance not only knew this but uses it to reclaim and resell cars. Even if it was accidental the contract I signed authorized autopay for the entire 48 month duration of the loan and I never canceled the payments and never missed a payment. They canceled it or knew through all their previous dealings with XXXX XXXX the policies and procedures of XXXX XXXX to the extent they failed to notify me of such so that I could have avoided this mess and still have my vehicle that I loved! Thank you for you time.
