Consumer Complaint: I had a loan for a vehicle through Credit Acceptance for a vehicle I purchased in XX/XX/XXXX. In XXXX after 20 MONTHS OF ONTIME PAYMENTS, the vehicle was stolen and when recovered was a total loss. I had full coverage insurance as well as gap insurance through the finance company on the vehicle. Once recovered, I went to XXXX impound and signed over power of attorney to the finance company so they could deliver the vehicle to the insurance company to pay the claim. Credit Acceptance NEVER DELIVERED THE VEHICLE to the insurance company and after 30 days XXXX impound crushed it and sold it. Due to never getting the vehicle delivered ( which was the responsibility of the finance company as I had signed over all power of attorney ) my insurance company did not pay the finance company. Credit Acceptance then told me I had to continue to make payments on the vehicle which I did for 1 month AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS but then could not afford any longer due to having to purchase another vehicle as well as all my tools that were stolen that were in the vehicle. Credit acceptance then proceeded to attempt to sue me FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE but the case was thrown out by the judge. In XXXX, my insurance company finally paid out Credit Acceptance but I never received ANY FORM OF REIMBURSEMENT for the taxes, plates, my tools or any of the thousands of dollars in parts I had installed prior to the theft of the vehicle and total loss. Currently Credit Acceptance shows I have 6 charge offs on my credit report which has prevented me from obtaining housing, loans and credit cards for the past 5 years as this is one of the only accounts on my report. I had NEVER MADE A LATE PAYMENT- EVER- and yet they are still saying I was in collections over the account and refuse to change this after MULTIPLE times contacting them as well as MULTIPLE DISPUTES. Credit Acceptance has made my life a living XXXX the past 5 years and has resulted in homelessness ( even while I was working full time- I could not find an apartment due to my credit score being so low as it dropped from a XXXX to in the 400s due to this ) yet they refuse to fix anything on my account. I have the utmost contempt for this company as they have made me suffer beyond words and destroying my life is nothing but a game to them.

Consumer Complaint: I made the final settlement payment on this account in XXXX. The payment cleared my bank account of XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I have since contacted Credit Acceptance corporation 3 times regarding this matter. I have submitted disputes to each credit bureau. As of XX/XX/XXXX when my most recent dispute was resolved and the account was reported to the credit bureaus the account is stilll showing as open and delinquent. Each contact I have made I have just been told to submit a dispute ... this is clearly not working as they are still reporting the account as open and delinquent.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: I currently have a joint auto loan that has a remaining balance of {$9900.00}. The vehicle was repossessed in 2019. My issue is that at the time of the purchase, I made the dealer aware of what payments I could afford. The amount they kept offering was at least {$200.00} above my budget, but the dealer insisted that If i paid that amount for 6 months on time, my payment would go down the my desire. I declined that offer. The dealer then went on to offer to write me a check for the difference in the car payments for the 6 months, so that I will only have to pay what I could afford out of my pocket and the check would cover the difference. I agreed to that. However, the dealer did not issue a check for he 6 months difference. I was allowed to take the car home that day and the called the next day for me to sign the paperwork after further negotiations with the creditor. The payment was higher than the initial offer. The dealer and the creditor preyed on us and stuck us in the contract that was not affordable. They set me up to have this repossession. They knowingly set us up with this high level of risk. I have let the creditor know several times that we were thrown into this deal and that it was not affordable. Now, this is impacting both of our credits when we were scammed into this deal.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Consumer Complaint: My brother passed away suddenly on XX/XX/XXXX XXXX a Veteran of the XXXX XXXX. He had a car loan through Credit Acceptance ( CA ) for a XXXX XXXX XXXX, which my XXXX yr old mother cosigned. We called to find out the options for returning the car. The original terms of loan payment, which she co-signed was a monthly payment of XXXX. At some point CA and my brother lowered the payment from {$340.00} to {$90.00} via a verbal agreement, they said. My mother never authorized a change, nor did she know or approve of the the new terms of the loan. I ask you, why would CA agree to such a change? They knew it would default to her, if my brother did not pay. CA was taking advantage of a senior citizen. They knew they could pull this over on her. Also, when she originally signed this loan, the individual at the XXXX XXXX of XXXX XXXX did not cover the Interests Rate. When I pulled the contract out, I had a heart attack! 22.99 % is Predatory and Criminal!! When we called CA on XX/XX/XXXX, we also found out that my brother had not sent a payment since XX/XX/XXXX. So, he was in default on his payments and my mother had not received a single letter of notification from CA. When I pointed this out to XXXX at CA, all he had to say was he was sorry. Really?! All while this loan continues to collect interest and late fees. NOW, my mother was responsible for paying this loan off ( approx {$10000.00} ). I understand the co-signer responsibilities. After complaints to the Indiana Attorney General and the Indiana Ins and Financial Services and got no further than we were in the first place. We have paid this car off, after getting jacked around, on how to get it paid off and get the title as quickly as possible. We are told it will take 21-30 days for the title. We paid the payoff amount given to us to begin with and I sent a CERTIFIED check overnight USPS. I called the next day to confirm they received it and then found out I still owed XXXX, since it took a week to get them the money. Since they have so many rules of how they WILL NOT take your money. That day, I gave one of their many phone minions my checking information to pay the balance. After almost a month and no title, I called yesterday ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and ask where it was. XXXX in the title dept said, I still owed them XXXX now, because of some nonsense about the payment not going through. I called the bank after that call with CA and my Bank said there was plenty of money in that account and she did not see anything that attempted to hit my account. My opinion is that that phone guy was mad because I was frankly yelling and crying at the way this company does business and so he decided NOT to pass my payment through, since I asked for his name. He was being very condescending to me and when I requested the title dept after I paid, he said, why ... they will tell you the same thing I am telling you. Now, I am another month sitting on {$11000.00} out of our pocket and we just want the title so we can recover some of the money. The car is only worth {$5000.00}. I have requested that the title be expedited and was denied. They are frankly just living up to the reputation they have built. XXXX in the Title Department truly has been kind and I have felt like she is trying, but it seems like the rest of this company has a mantra to just not be helpful to their customers. Have I yelled and cried, yes. I've lost my brother and this has been very painful & stressful. He had no life insurance or will. I'd like everyone of these people to pick their closest relative and then stick them in the ground tomorrow. See how that feels. I'm asking for the title to be expedited so we can recoup some of the money we've lost from paying off this care. I've read that XXXX XXXX CEO doesn't want to be known. I understand why.. he's the wealthiest man in the XXXX area XXXX I'd want that to be a big secret too. He also runs a very unethical company.

Consumer Complaint: For six months we have been trying to rebuild my credit and have filed dispute upon dispute regarding the reporting of one of our credit lenders, Credit Acceptance , Inc for a vehicle loan for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. Time and again Credit Acceptance has reported inaccurate information to the Credit Reporting Bureaus. On XX/XX/XXXX we have paid the loan off, yet it is being told to us by the Bureaus that we still owe either {$2800.00} or up to {$8000.00} on the loan that is satisfied Each time that we file a dispute we are told to send in any documentation that we have showing that the information is inaccurate. Each time we have sent information to the credit bureaus and we have sent these disputes via certified mail and have proof of receipt. We have spent nearly {$150.00} over a six month period disputing these claims with no satisfaction. ! - the lender is reporting inaccurately 2 - the credit bureau is refusing to accept any requested documentation to overturn the lender inaccuracy 3 - the resulting issues are detrimental and damaging to my credit score and being reported inaccurately and falsely ADDITIONALLY, THE LOAN IS NOW SATISFIED AND IS PAID OFF, HOWEVER, YOUR COMPANY STILL CONTINUES TO REPORT INACCURACIES DETRIMENTAL TO MY CREDIT REPORT

Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance made a 6 month verbal agreement with me during a difficult financial period I was going through. To catch up or continue to stay in good standing with the company I was told to make payment of {$660.00} per month for 6 months back in - I believe XX/XX/2019. After adhering to the verbal agreement, I was to go back to making regular payments of {$550.00} / month. After about 3 months I started receiving notices to repossess my car and they had reportEd me being late on my credit report. After I contacted Credit Acceptance, they denied ever making the agreement. They tried to say I was talking with an employee that didnt know what she was doing. This is unacceptable and I should not have to suffer consequences because of an agreement made by your company. I continued to receive notices that my car would be repossessed and they reported to credit agencies that I was delinquent. I continue to make my payments on time and even caught up that extra payment. It is still reflecting on my credit report. They have caused me to have loans denied when I am able financially, I plan to pursue this legally. Please intervene so that my credit report gets corrected and so that no one else has to go through this. They have also been mean and disrespectful with me over the phone. This is no way to conduct business!!!
