Consumer Complaint: I financed a vehicle through Credit Acceptance on XX/XX/XXXX. The vehicle was a lemon. Within a year, I had to have the alternator changed 3 times. The alternator went bad again in XXXX of XXXX and the car would not run. The vehicle was towed to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX and Credit Acceptance was called and asked to come and get the vehicle. In XXXX of XXXX, there had been no response from Credit Acceptance. XXXX 'XXXX Garage went to the XXXX to obtain a salvage title and therefore the XXXX sent certified letters to myself and to Credit Acceptance. Credit Acceptance did not respond and XXXX XXXX XXXX was granted the salvage title. Credit Acceptance removed the debt from my credit report but is now reporting the loan as open when in fact it has been five years since the salvaged title was granted. Credit Acceptance failed to secure the vehicle from the voluntary repossession and this is on record with the XXXX XXXX. The loan needs to be removed from my credit and closed.

Consumer Complaint: I was involved in accident and car was totaled. The insurance company asked for 10 day pay off amount and the loan company provided the amount the insurance company paid off the amount and they had to do a gap insurance because we live in NY for like XXXX or XXXX and the loan was done with that loan that loan company. After taking extra payments on my checking account the loan company is saying that we owe more. Once a payoff amount is given it should void everything else because thats interest amount

Consumer Complaint: Vehicle was purchased from XXXX XXXX XXXX. The loan was through Credit Acceptance. This vehicle had issues from the very first day of purchase. Was pulled over minutes after purchase for not having working tail lights. After taking the vehicle back to have it fixed the mechanics wrecked the vehicle and busted a tail light out and didnt say anything. After noticing it we had to contact them to watch video footage and talking to the staff to find out what happened. The engine went completely out after that and I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. I spoke with XXXX directly and he asked me to call the lender and get a payoff amount to payoff the loan and email it to him. I gave him the amount over the phone and he asked me to also email it and he would handle it. I did several times and called several times after and he has never responded since then. He has ignored all calls and emails since. However the debt remains on my credit report. I was told that by the company that it was going to be paid off and would be removed. It is still on my credit as a negative item.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: Upon getting a new vehicle, i voluntarily surrendered my vehicle and made a verbal agreement on the phone with bank rep to pay {$100.00} per month. After the vehicle was auctioned off the bank requested the full amount which was over {$5000.00} immediately. After telling them i could not pay all that up front and that an agreement was made for {$100.00} per month, the bank decided to threaten me with a lawyer who never called me and now we have to go to court. They auctioned the vehicle for less than what the value was then tacked on a repo fee also. Credit acceptance also has added an unfair amount of interest on the loan.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan
Consumer Complaint: I have FOUR problems 1. ) I purchased a XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, at XXXX XXXX. I was approved with XXXX down with XXXX XXXX. I found out later the XXXX went to an extended warranty, and Gap they told me I had to purchase instead of the purchase price of the car. 2. ) My car was repoed without notice on XX/XX/XXXX ; the next day, I paid the repo fee and the payment I was behind and picked up my car. The rep at credit acceptance told me to make the current payment, and I could defer the next one. I paid on XX/XX/XXXX. They called and said I paid the payment one day late, so my deferment was void ; they never sent me anything in the mail saying it was void. 3. ) My car was put in the shop on XX/XX/XXXX, at the same place I purchased it, for almost seven months, while I was still continuing to make my car payment. The warranty I paid for would never pay for it ; the car dealerships owner found out about it and paid to have the car fixed. The warranty is a scam ; I need to be refunded. 4. ) I informed Credit acceptance that I was a victim of fraud, someone filed a fake claim in my name for unemployment, my hours were cut due to COVID, and I got behind on two payments ; they reported it instantly on my credit when they said they would not.

Consumer Complaint: With {$2000.00} down payment ( {$10000.00} purchase price ). I was told the loan would only be granted if the extended warranty was purchased ( ~ $ 1,700+ ). Which also meant I now needed GAP due to high interest. With high pressure tactics and my loan paperwork stating this was optional I was forced into payments I couldn't afford with the high interest. Later to have it repossessed & sued for entire loan + interest had loan carried full term ( almost {$20000.00} total )
