Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I ended my account with XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX and returned my equipment in-store, closing the account and paying the final bill in full. In XXXX XXXX XXXX, I contacted XXXX again because I received another bill, and confirmed via phone that the equipment was returned and the account was again confirmed to be closed. At a later time, a debt collector Convergent Outsourcing Inc said they were collecting a payment of {$110.00} for the account that was past due. Since I had moved to a new location, I never received any mail notifications or e-mails regarding this instance. I contacted XXXX and they confirmed in my account notes that equipment had been returned and that there was an unjust balance on the account, but they were unable to close the instance with Convergent Outsourcing since it had been reported already on my credit. I contacted Convergent Outsourcing, notifying them of the instance with XXXX and informing them that I would submit an XXXX dispute. I submit the XXXX dispute but learned today that the dispute was rejected so I am filing a complaint through the CFPB to get it removed from my collections and credit history. I have attached the XXXX and XX/XX/2020 bills, showing a {$0.00} balance at the start of XXXX and then Service charges for both XXXX and XXXX. I contacted XXXX in XXXX where they said they would fully credit and close the account, but the invoice shows they only provided back partial credits on the instance which resulted in a missbilled balance of around {$110.00}.

They sent some type of bill with an amount saying that verifies its me. I DID NOT OPEN THIS ACCOUNT ITS FRAUD

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, my identity was stolen and someone tried to purchase a XXXX phone in my name. A police report was made, contacted all credit bureaus and am fraud alert was reported to XXXX. XXXX apologized and the debt was immediately removed from my credit reports. On XX/XX/XXXX, Received a notification from Convergent that I owe the creditor XXXX XXXX {$1800.00}. I called them to explain that I do not owe this money and to bring this back to me after I dealt with an emotional experience with identity theft was unfair. After the conversation, I thought they understood but I continue receiving the same letter month after month. I received another letter today and I am tired. I want them to stop and leave me alone.
