Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX a federally protected consumer, and I am making this complaint against Convergent Outsourcing , Inc for committing fraud and identity theft. I have never contracted with Convergent Outsourcing , Inc and I did not authorize nor consent to the use of any of my identifying information to commit mail fraud and unlawful extortionate activities by contacting me about an alleged debt they claim I owe them. These abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices committed by Convergent Outsourcing XXXX Inc have brought me severe stress and anxiety. I am aware that in accordance with Article 9, the assignment of a defaulted note is illegal and both the assignee and the assigned are both liable for violations under 15 U.S. Code 1692e ( 12 ). I am legally refusing to pay this debt pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1692c ( c ). I am demanding a cease and desist of all illegal activity, any communication and collection activity, of this and any alleged debts until Convergent Outsourcing, Inc can provide me with sufficient documentary evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay them. If this documentary evidence can not be produced and Convergent Outsourcing , Inc continues its collection efforts, I will file for litigation for actual damages caused, and Convergent Outsourcing, Inc will be held criminally liable for aggravated identity theft pursuant to 18 USC 1028A, extortion, theft by deception, securities fraud, and mail fraud. Upon the receipt of the documents herein and of this notice, you are hereby notified Pursuant UCC 1-202f. Your prompt attention and response are both requested and required.

Consumer Complaint: I sent a letter to the credit bureaus as well as to the credit debt agency no one responded or sent any letters. I have asked twice for this. The credit bureaus said its an address on my account that the bill is attached to but, would not tell me the address. Which is strange. My current address is on my report report and I have asked many times to remove all other addresses attached me as this is not my home address.

Consumer Complaint: I received a debt collection notice from both Convergent Outsourcing , Inc and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on behalf of XXXX. I was surprised to receive this because I've never set up an account with T-Mobile and had never received any kind of billing notices from them prior to receiving the debt collection notices. On XX/XX/22 I called Convergent Outsourcing and notified them that I was disputing the debt. The letter they sent me states that if I dispute the debt they must stop collection until they send me the information that shows I owe the debt. As of XX/XX/22 I have not received any correspondence regarding my dispute, but I have received an additional collection notice that was issued on XX/XX/22. When I initially called Convergent on XX/XX/22 they also advised me to call XXXX directly to dispute the claim. I did this on the same day. I spoke with XXXX different representatives and they were unable to give me any information regarding the account and wouldn't allow me to dispute anything because I couldn't give them the pin number associated with the account. As I never set up an account I have no way of knowing what this pin number could be and they did not offer me any assistance with this. I also requested that they reach out to the debt collector directly about this as they wouldn't give me any information. They refused to take the debt collection account number when I offered it. I would like confirmation that they will cease all debt collection efforts and that this will not affect my credit.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I received a letter from a collection agency ( Convergent Outsourcing, Inc. ) dated XX/XX/2022. I attached a copy for your review. The letter claims that I owe {$50.00}, however, I paid my final bill to XXXX which was actually {$85.00}. I have attached evidence of this as well. The debt amount does not even make sense.

Consumer Complaint: This company contacted me via email stating that I owed a debt that I never had. They are trying to collect a debt that they say that I owe, that I have never had at all. I don't appreciate them sending me an email about something that I don't owe.

Consumer Complaint: Re : Convergent Outsourcing Inc., a Debt Collection Company ; XXXX XXXX, My Credit Profiles indicate Convergent Outsourcing Inc., a Debt Collection Company, placed a Collection on my Credit Reports in XXXX ; however, I did not receive a mailed notice of the debt until after XXXX. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), the consumer must receive notification of debt and an opportunity to dispute the debt before being added to any credit profile. Additionally, I did not give explicit consent to Convergent Outsourcing Inc., and for that matter, I did not conduct business with Convergent Outsourcing , Inc . Further, through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, these business matters with XXXX have been resolved ; I am uncertain why Convergent Outsourcing Inc. is attempting to collect on a fixed CFPB case. Kindly delete the collection account from all three ( 3 ) ( XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ).
