Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: XXXX keeps selling a debt that does not and has not belong to me. It has been removed several times from credit bureau. They keep putting it back on my credit report as a new account and I have to dispute all over again and fight it all over again this is the 4th time they have switched collectors and added it as a new account.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2022, Convergent Outsourcing agreed to delete all the information regarding my Account # XXXX and request removal from the three credit bureaus. I then paid the settlement in two payments of XXXX $ totaling the full settlement of XXXX XXXX However, Convergent Outsourcing is now claiming that they don't have the authority to delete this account and request removal from the three credit bureaus, because it is not allowed by the original creditor. I am fully aware that this was a deceptive practice by Convergent Outsourcing to collect the debt. Furthermore, as the data furnisher they do have the authority to alter and remove the information provided to the credit bureaus. This company has violated my rights under The Fair Debt Collections Act.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX account was closed in XXXX of XXXX. In XXXX of XXXX we received a statement for a balance due for equipment. We returned all equipment. XXXX months later a collection agency put the amount on credit reports. We showed the equipment was returned and the collection was removed in early XXXX by Credit Protection Association ( collection agency ). In XX/XX/XXXX the collection from XXXX showed up on my credit again. This time reported as new, even though the original claim was from XXXX. I have tried to work with both Convergent and XXXX and neither are acknowledging that the debt was related to equipment, nor that this is being reported inaccurately. By re-reporting the same debt from XXXX in XXXX, they have damaged my credit score and ability to purchase a home. I have now been told this was not for equipment but rather for services. If I had been told this was for services in XXXX I would have paid it. But I was told it was for equipment, validated equipment returned, and collection was removed. I have since paid the amount in full since XXXX provided a breakdown of the final balance due. However, by falsely telling me two years ago this was for equipment and agreeing I did not owe it, I am not being penalized by the resurfacing as a new collection. Date is XX/XX/XXXX Reported on XX/XX/XXXX Originally reported on XX/XX/XXXX XXXX : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, AZ XXXX Acct # XXXX Statement on XX/XX/XXXX references equipment. Removed in XXXX following conversation with collection agency. Currently reported by : Convergent Outsourcing , Inc . XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, WA XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I called Convergent Outsourcing XX/XX/22 to pay the collection account sent to them from XXXX XXXX XXXX {$300.00}. I was asking for a settlement, the representative informed me they couldnt settle the account but I could have the balance reduced by contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX to send the internet modem equipment back before I paid. I callled XXXX XXXX XXXX and they said they are sending me a return box and shipping label. XX/XX/22 and I havent received the return box and label. I informed the Convergent representative that I was intending on paying when the equipment was sent back and the balance was adjusted when she informed me to call XXXX XXXX XXXX. Convergent has placed this account on my credit report even though I called to pay on XX/XX/22 and didnt because Convergent representative told me the balance could be adjusted which prevented me from paying that day. XX/XX/22 Convergent representative told me account wont be deleted when paid although their representative is who told me to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX to have the balance adjusted when I called to pay.
