Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2023 and once before, I filed a complaint with Capital One regarding their policy on graduating my secured credit card with them to an unsecured credit card with them. I alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other banking laws, including violations of UDAAP and falsified marketing. Each time Capital One denies my request to convert my secured credit card to an unsecured credit card, they are denying me credit but not providing me the reasons for denying me credit and taking adverse action against my account, as is required by law. On XX/XX/2023, I received a call at XXXX XXXX from XXXX at Capital One ( Capital One employee ID # XXXX ), who identified herself as an employee of Capital One and immediately, without further introduction or verification, rudely told me there was a " problem '' with my Capital One credit cards, that they were restricted for fraud, and that I was required to send in my driver license, Social Security Card and proof of residency. XXXX was so rude, so short and shockingly bold about asking me for this highly sensitive and confidential information that I was caught off-guard by her call. I told XXXX I would back myself to verify the legitimacy of her call. She continued to be rude and said " Fine by me. Your accounts will still be restricted, ' in a mocking way. I called back Capital One and did verify that all three of my accounts were, in fact, restricted due to " fraud, '' by no one was able to tell me what that fraud was or the exact nature of what had occurred to restrict my accounts and require me to send in all those highly confidential and sensitive documents with private information on them. The employee whom I spoke with, XXXX ( Capital One employee ID # XXXX ) was incredibly unhelpful, rude and refused to tell me why my accounts had been restricted -- but he continued to press me to send in my driver license, Social Security card and bank statement with my full bank account number listed on it. After having enough of XXXX 's rudeness and demands for my personal and confidential information, I spoke to a supervisor named XXXX ( Capital One employee ID # XXXX ), who was exceptionally helpful and took immediate ownership of the issue. She successfully verified all my information that Capital One required. I will also note that when all these accounts were opened, especially account ending in XXXX, all my personal and confidential documentation were sent to Capital One. This makes it suspicious and concerning that Capital One is continuing to ask for highly sensitive documents and information, which has the potential to be misused by them and their employees. I also believe that there is no reason that Capital One should refuse to tell me that they took adverse action against me and not give me the reason they took that adverse action. This continues to be a pattern with Capital One -- they take adverse credit action against me and then refuse to give the reason for the adverse action, which by law they are required to give me. Finally, I believe that Capital One intentionally took retaliatory and discriminatory action against me after I alleged other violations of law by Capital One, as referenced in my XX/XX/2023 complaint to them and other complaints, one of which was filed with the CFPB and OCC.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am writing to you today to request your assistance in resolving a serious matter that has caused me significant financial harm. I am the victim of an employment scam that has resulted in my bank accounts being frozen, and I fear that I may also be the victim of identity theft. On XX/XX/2023 im am disputing a number of things first a check that was cleared and then reversed without being told in real time by the criminals for {$4700.00} that was fraudalent. 2nd that both charges be immediately dropped for XXXX and XXXX and that MY money {$2500.00} is finally freed and available and this case is closed. its simple the disputes are dropped for obvious reasons and all proof provided and MY money prior to ALL this is returned and freed NOT some provisional credit thats gone on for 7 weeks now and my funds being frozen. This sophisticated scam has affected me for more than 7 weeks now, and I have filed reports with all governmental regulatory agencies, including the FBI. I have provided all documentation to support my assertion, including proof that I was hired via email, sent an offer letter, and received a check that cleared by my bank but was then reversed in real-time without my knowledge. During this process, I was instructed to send personal funds for office equipment for my remote office to 'vendors, ' which I now know were criminals impersonating high-level executives at a global billion-dollar company. All emails, XXXX Teams, IP addresses, bank accounts, and more can be traced, and I have attached all relevant documentation to this letter. As a result of this scam, my bank account went into negative, and I was instructed to send personal funds as well. My bank account is now frozen, and I have no access to MY money. This dispute has gone on for far too long, and I am suffering the consequences of this employment fraud. This scam is so viral that major job sites such as XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX have put " Beware of '' in certain job descriptions and specifically stating they would never ask what the criminals did of me. I can attach this as proof as well if need be. I am reaching out to you today to request your assistance in forwarding of my proof, all documentations of my case, and my legal rights. I will employ legal aid to assist in this matter as well. I urgently need your assistance in resolving this matter as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Consumer Complaint: Back in XXXX or around XXXX Capital One Finance reached out to me about surrendering the car to them or paying {$6000.00} dollars. I agreed to surrender the vehicle because I didn't have {$6000.00} dollars and gave them the address and call them on multiple occasions to come and get the car, no one ever came and now in XXXX they reached out to me stating they are going to put a repossession for the car after two and a half years of no response to my calls or anything. I don ' think this should count against me or go on my credit when I voluntarily agreed to give surrender the vehicle. When I ask the representative why they didn't come get the car his response to me was they don't have anything to do with the repossession people. But 2 and a half years later now you want to put this on my credit, and I disagree. If there is anything I can do any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I am the victim of an employment scam that has resulted in my credit card now having money stating i owe and i have filed disputes on both in which which are for the same exact amount of {$1000.00} to two separate individuals aka criminals, and I fear that I may also be the victim of identity theft. This sophisticated scam has affected me for more than six weeks now, and I have filed reports with all governmental regulatory agencies, including the FBI. I have provided all documentation to support my assertion, including proof that I was hired via email, sent an offer letter during this process, I was instructed to send personal funds for office equipment for my remote office to 'vendors, ' which I now know were criminals impersonating high-level executives at a global billion-dollar company. which is another crime in the state of NY All emails, XXXX XXXX, IP addresses, bank accounts, and more can be traced, and I have attached all relevant documentation to this letter. but so far no one has done anything to help nor stop these criminals and help me -the victim. As a result of this scam, my credit card in which i disputed these two fraudalent charges were pending until recently where now one is still pending the other they wildly absurdly rewarded the criminals stating i owe this money which is insane. its literally in black and white how i was scammed. ALL my facts and proof doesn't show anything. something clearly isn't right here nor have then read viewed all proof and documentation because anyone that would would easily see that I am 100 % a victim of employment fraud and every word screenshot hire letter interview official contact and more proves that. I always pay my bills in full and on time take a look at my credit report. and my bills that I contd to pay and struggle so hard with. I will NOT be responsible for someone illegally scamming me and stealing my money thats crazy. Consumer Complaint: I filled a dispute with my Capital One charge card regarding purchasing brake pads and rotors for my XXXX XXXX XXXX vehicle that was purchased in XXXX - XXXX of XXXX. The service was a two year warranty, and I had problems for the second time with the installed brakes and rotors. The first time they were installed the brakes were squeaking so bad I had to go back to shop. I had to wait for about 2 weeks before they were installed again. This XXXX of XXXX my car with vibrating when I step on my brakes. I went back to the merchant and they informed my to purchase the brake pads and rotors myself and only have to pay him {$75.00} to install them. I paid previously a total of {$460.00} for brakes and rotors that they provided with labor. I decided not to go back to them because it had not been a year since I paid for the services done on my vehicle. I decided to file a dispute instead to recoup my funds and get them done correctly elsewhere. At first Capital One reversed the charge and then recanted due to it being over 60 days. I have since XXXX information and it said that I'm entitled to a chargeback up to 540 days. This information said I should be able to get my funds credited back to my charge card.

Consumer Complaint: Hello I have a member fee ( XXXX point ) Venture Capital One credit card. At the end of XX/XX/2023 I got an offer on my phone app to upgrade my credit card to one that doesn't charge member fee but they decrease the points to 1.5. I took advantage of this promotion knowing that my current credit card it was gon na expire on XXXX. They send me the new credit card by mail. Now when I was checking my charges online I saw they charged me the annual fee on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX dollars ). When I call to ask them ( call made Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX XXXX ) to void this charge they said they cant do this. And now I paid for the credit card that I am no getting all the benefits ( XXXX point ) and I get to use only that supposedly is XXXX annual fee but is only XXXX points. I think this is very unfair. The manager didnt give me any solution only saying that I approve the addendums and stuff when I change the credit card. My complain is what they give me the option to Upgrade to a card that I was going to save on annual fee when they already had charge me for the Annual fee. This action by Capital One was misleading and corrupted.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX by capital one reporting system is deceptive. The scoring system they use reports my credit scores as excellent and is from XXXX scoring system. I thought was was in a great shape to apply for capital one credit card based on the excellent score and great banking relationship I have kept with capital one throughout the years. To my detriment I discovered on XX/XX/2023 after getting denied credit from capital one, they do not use the XXXX scoring for cards issued by their bank which is this misleading XXXX score. I also found out recently none of the major credit card issuers I have applied for use this useless XXXX scoring system.
