Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I am submitting a complaint regarding XXXX that has repeatedly violated my consumer rights as a consumer. Despite my many attempts to rectify the situation, this agency has continued to include items on my consumer report without obtaining my consent, which has led to the defamation of my character. Furthermore, this agency has failed to provide me with any verifiable contract or evidence to support the inclusion of these items on my consumer report, as outlined in 16 USC 6802, 6803, 6804, and 6805. In addition to this, this agency has engaged in inaccurate reporting, which violates USC 1681d and USC 1681n. They have also violated 16 CFR 313 by showing charges off on my consumer report, which is technically ordinary income by the IRS. This a clear violation of my right as a consumer. Furthermore, this agency has shown a certificate of indebtedness on my report, which violates the Privacy Act of 1974. They have also violated my rights by showing transaction history on my report without obtaining my consent. As a result, I am now being forced to take legal action against this agency for violating my consumer rights as a consumer. I am deeply concerned about the impact that this agency 's actions have had on my reputation and financial standing. I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to ensure that this agency is held accountable for their actions.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I noticed that my SSN was filed as the incorrect number with Capital One, so I sought to fix it. I immediately contacted Capital One and I was told to submit a W-9 form by a link to a secure document upload from email to request my SSN to be changed, which I promptly completed. I was also told that during this process, Capital One was to lock my account, until they had changed over the SSN. Hearing nothing more after submitting the form, I called back on XX/XX/XXXX to ask about the status of the form, and was informed that the form was completed incorrectly, as I had not completed one important piece of the form. I realized my mistake and was quick to correct the error, and double-checked the rest of the form this time to ensure its accuracy. I resubmitted the W-9 along with a scan of my Social Security card . Nearly two weeks later on XX/XX/XXXX, and I've heard nothing yet again about the whole situation. I call back Capital One yet again only to be told that no such system exists to submit forms over email. I am then transferred to several other representatives until someone who actually knows what they're doing picks up. For some reason, unlike before, now in order to check the status of my form, they need a form of verification. So, I complete the verification a couple of times until it works and get a success screen. The representative instead says that it failed however ( when it didn't ) and that he couldn't be bothered to try it again. So I call back to get another representative and this time, the representative is very kind and understanding of the situation. He suggests that I resubmit my form yet again, since it won't hurt, and the verification process with him works seamlessly. He checks on the form and it appears that it had not been reviewed yet, which he said is unusual and and I agree, such an extended time-frame is rather unacceptable. Bear in mind that since XX/XX/XXXX, I have not had access to any of the funds in my checking account, since it was still locked. So, I resubmit the form as per his request and thank him for his empathy. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and the account is still locked, and I see how far we are getting by contacting Capital One ( nowhere ) and now am I here to submit a complaint. For 23 days now, my checking account has been completely inaccessible and I can not deposit nor withdraw funds from it.

Consumer Complaint: CapitalOne has baited me with the offer of {$300.00} cash back if I spend {$500.00} in 90 days with a credit card 3 times. Each time I apply for this card they deny me, which hurts my credit rating, and then in the denial letter make me a lesser offer with another card. No cash back but zero percent for a certain time period. This is a classic bait and switch operation. In the mean time, since my credit is very good I opened credit cards with several other banks because of their cash offers. My credit is very good and they should have made good on their offer. I have fallen for this bait and switch offer 3 times and they deny me the bait card and offer me the lesser switch card after the denial. I want to see them fined and I want them to stop using this practice. If they are going to offer it they should make good on their offer. Thank you, XXXX XXXX
