It has already resulted in the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the severe financial and emotional distress that this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XX/XX/2023 XXXX notified me that my credit score dropped XXXX points and that I had a Hard Inquiry from Capitol One Bank for a credit/bank account. I called XXXX to have that inquiry removed from my report as I do not recognize it nor do I have any accounts/affiliation with Capitol One. Then I called Capitol One and was transferrred to the Fraud Department where the representative " checked everywhere '' and confirmed that Capitol One doesn't have any accounts being opened in my name or using my social security number. The representative at Capitol One stated that contacting the credit bureau should be my next step. Which I had did first. Additionally, XXXX recommended that I file a police report with the FTC and that has led me here to the CFPB. XXXX 's representative did state that they would have the hard inquiry removed from my report within 24 - 72 hours. It appears that the hard inquiry was a mistake on Capitol One 's end and hopefully will be remedied soon.
