When i called XXXX they told me that it was american express who had the hold on card so i cancelled all orders with XXXX now am ex refuses to refund the money to my card i would like my money refunded for the fact i couldnt use the card

Consumer Complaint: I am trying to use an American Express prepaid gift card that was given to me. I have tried to use the card online at both XXXX and XXXX. However, the transaction does not go through at either vendor. I have searched online for a solution and found this to be a common problem with this type of gift card. See here : XXXX XXXX XXXX I have tried to check the balance of the gift card at the website listed on the back of the card, " XXXX '' However, this doesn't work. I also called the number on the back of the card to confirm the balance and was able to confirm that the card has a balance of {$50.00} on it ( the same as the starting balance listed on the front of the card ).

Consumer Complaint: This is my second attempt to get help from an outside agency for this problem. I sent my complaint to XXXX in NY re American Express. I was told the company was sending me a written response by mail. After almost 3 weeks, I never received it! Did they lie about this? Looks that way! Here are the details of my complaint. Blue Cash everyday card~ Am Exp # ending in XXXX I am a retired senior citizen filing an American Express complaint after being a satisfied customer of American Express for XXXX years. I was a consumer who paid my bill in full on time, put everything on auto pay, and was very conscientious about keeping my payments up to date and my credit report clean. Due to lack of action and correction on the part of AMEX, our relationship reached a tragic end. heres what happened - I had to receive an XXXX XXXX XXXX last XXXX ( XXXX ) and asked the XXXX staff to run it through my insurance which they said they did, however, after receiving the shot I was presented with a {$62.00} bill. I went round and round with them, and they refused to correct the issue. When I spoke with XXXX staff they said it shouldve been covered at 100 % XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I decided to dispute the charge with American Express explaining all the details to XXXX different supervisors on different days and times. They offered to remove different amounts from my bill but couldn't get the {$62.00} amount correct. I dont know why. After all this time and frustration, I finally told American Express I would be closing the account. I had held this open for a long time with a perfect payment record. I closed the account then I got a notice that they had recognized my disputed charge and removed it! The account was then officially closed. They decided to continue to charge fees, interest and other charges on the outstanding {$62.00} which had not been removed at the time of the account closing.! Is it legal to assess these fees retroactively? Once a disputed charge has been removed? They have run up a bill against me now for over {$730.00}. This is financial fraud and must be stopped.! This is creating economic hardship for me, in addition to negative credit report issues! What can be done about a company that refused to work in good faith with a valued client over a payment/dispute issue which was clearly presented ... and eventually resolved! My XXXX credit score was XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX prior this event. Now, as a result of AMEX s reckless, unethical mismanagement of my account, it stands at XXXX! This is devastating to me, a retired XXXX XXXX XXXX on a fixed income ; particularly during this high inflationary environment. American consumers should not be forced to deal with unethical conduct in a Company like American Express! Where is the consumer protection? I look forward to your reply!

Consumer Complaint: Received a nice American express Gift card from my employer for my XXXX XXXX anniversary. They know we like to travel so it was interned to be used for our next vacation. I have tried to use it at XXXX when that didn't work I tried to get an XXXX gift card from them. I also tried XXXX, XXXX and it doesn't work. I have checked it's activated and I have tried to make purchases less then the available balance. Again the only solution from American express is to try to use it somewhere else instead of where I want to use it.

Consumer Complaint: I got an American Express Gift card as a gift that was bought at target on XX/XX/XXXX to buy some groceries but the card has declined at all places Ive tried. I tried buying in XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX both online and in store with amounts lower than the balance in it, as well as XXXX exclusively online and at gas stations which I do know is listed as a place where it might decline. I tried adding the balance to my XXXX and XXXX to circumvent the restrictions but they declined there as well and when Ive called and checked the balance online they say the whole XXXX dollars are still there and I should try a different store that accepts American Express, but all these stores supposedly accept American Express and its frustrating how they wont tell me what stores I can use it in if those wont take it.

Consumer Complaint: I have spent many times to try to spend this gift card, but it is rejected by essentially every online store ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX This is gift credit card with {$100.00} gift value, which should be accepted anyplace where American express card is accepted. When I asked American Express where it is accepted, it just saying " They don't know, they blocked many stores to protect my fund ''. That is a scam, it essentially reject every online so that I can't figure where to spend. The money is in gift card but we just can't spend. The government should crack down such cheating practice by American Express.

On XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to use the prepaid gift card at XXXX XXXX in person, XXXX XXXX online, and XXXX. Each time was declined and charged XXXX cents for each attempt. I call customer service on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX ( AZ time ) but only got to a pre recorded message stating that heightened security measures wont allow me to use it at some places. The places I tried to use it are huge. The fact that I can not use it at those 2 places is wrong.

I did not consent to the sales, transfer, or sharing of private information or property with any person or corporation. I XXXX, XXXX, am living man and beneficiary holder of all accounts identified with the trust, XXXX XXXX. American Express does not have any beneficial interest in the accounts. I accept all title rights interest and equity owed to Principal XXXX XXXX. I am requesting that American Express credit the Principal accounts with the interest due to the accounts and make the account available for use.
