Consumer Complaint: I WAS DENIED AN EXTENSION OF CREDIT BY AMERICAN EXPRESS. ON XX/XX/XXXX XXXX, I APPLIED FOR A CREDIT CARD WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS. AS YOU MAY BE AWARE, IT IS AGAINST FEDERAL LAW IN ACCORDANCE WITH EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT TO PROCLAIM AN ADVERSE ACTION AGAINST A CONSUMER. PURSUANT TO 15 U.S CODE 1691 ( C ) YOU ASSUME CIVIL LIABILITY PURSUANT TO 15 U.S CODE 1691 ( K ). AMERICAN EXPRESS HAS VOILATED MY FEDERALLY PROTECTED CONSUMER RIGHTS : 15 U.S. CODE 1642 15 U.S CODE 1681 M, 12 CFR 1002. AMERICAN EXPRESS INDENTRED AGREEMENT IT STATES " THE SECURITY INTEREST IN THE COLLATERAL IS GRANTED TO SECURE THE NOTE. '' AMERICAN EXPRESS DEFINTION OF COLLATERAL " ALL ACCOUNTS, INSTRUMENTS, DOCUMENTS, ETC. MY APPLICATION WITH SIGNATURE IS THE COLLATERAL. THE NOTE FOR EXAMPLE IS THE PROMISSARY NOTE. Consumer Complaint: I have opened a Hilton Honors credit card with AMEX in XX/XX/XXXX which was stating " Earn XXXX Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend {$2000.00} in eligible purchases on the Card in the first 6 months of Card Membership. '' For the 1st month I setup a bill payment from my account and AMEX charged me interest and told me they did not receive my payment. I immediately paid over the phone, but they refused to refund me the fees charged and after I called multiple times, they refunded me partially the fees. For the 2nd statement I made sure to pay on time and paid for the whole balance. I have a XXXX credit and I never missed a payment. Today when I called and asked why I did not get my bonus points after spending so much on this card, they told me I am not eligible for their offer. I tried to explain them that I was approved for this offer when I applied for the credit card and I did not get a letter or a note about being not eligible for the offer. And now after I spent so much money and they charged me even an annual membership AMEX refused to give me the points. I was extremely disappointed after doing my best to spend and pay the debt to not get the points and the worst it was that the Customer Service representative could not tell me why I was not eligible and why I did not get a notification about not being eligible. This is the first time when I get into a situation when the promised reward points are not

Consumer Complaint: I received 2 American Express Reward virtual cards from my employer for {$100.00} each. The first was received on XX/XX/2023 and the second on XX/XX/2023 These cards can not be used in physical stores but I can not use them in ANY online stores, either. They are declined at XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and countless other online stores I've tried. The company claims that this is done to " protect [ my ] funds '' and I was told to just use them at another store. However THERE IS NO STORE that I can use these cards at!

This was very deceptive and XXXX never explained to me that I can exercise a nondisclosure option. I feel like my consumer rights have been violated, and I have been taken advantage of. I never gave you any written consent to report anything on my consumer report no consent is identity theft FDCPA 8012 Furnishing Deceptive Forms : XXXX has furnished inaccurate inquiries and accounts as if they were accurate when they were never validated according to XXXX, so XXXX doesnt even know if these accounts are accurate, but yet XXXX reported this inaccurate information. Also XXXX reported that I owe a debt, of any numbers, only positive ). By you telling me I owe a " debt, but reporting positive balances to my credit report is very deceptive. 15 U.S. Code 1681b - Permissible Purposes of Consumer Reports : ( a ) In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : ( 2 ) In accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates I never gave XXXX any written consent to report anything on my consumer report no consent is identity theft if the laws I quoted from Congress are incorrect, please correct me by providing the LAWS that support XXXX reporting the above mentioned accounts and inquiries. Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/18 around XXXX XXXX i had purchased an American Express XXXX $ goft card. I loaded it up with {$62.00} and it cost {$6.00} to purchase. So {$68.00} in total. I got the card waited an hour like i was supposed to. I had tried to make a purchase a little after XXXX. It was declined. Ok. So i waited a bit more. Tried a few times between XXXX and XXXX. Still declining. It is now currently XXXX and it still is not working on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX at all. XXXX has a pending XXXX XXXX on it. And now its just stuck like this. I called customer service around XXXX. Gave him the details of the amex card, explained my problem amd was told that the merchant on XXXX doesnt take amex ( which is bull as the seller clearly states amex is perfectly fine to use ). Customer service did not help me at all. He didnt give me a solution but said the card was Active which i already knew as i can see its status on the website. I tried a few more times to purchase around XXXX. Also still declined. Not only that but the card is showing as expired when i tried on XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ). So basically im out nearly {$70.00}, can not get a friend a gift ( as the sale ends on XXXX XXXX tomorrow ), i can not get what i planning to purchase either because of this. I never have a issue with Visa cards. But this Amex gift card has given me problems that shouldnt be an issue. Im not sure if i have to wait 24 hours or what. Ive waited the initial hour and the 4 hours that are in the TOS pamplet and it still doesnt work.

Consumer Complaint: received a XXXX $ amex egift card from work, msm technology. unable to add to XXXX funds, paypal, use on any website i've tried/wanted. unable to use in store because it's not physical. have spoken to their 'help center ' 4 times now.. only to get told 'try again in a week. ' called asking for a cheque, was hold to 'call later ' or 'call back ' because we can't do that currently. i've been hung up on as well after the person has acknowledged my voice/name and refuses to talk. i'm overly cordial on calls and it feels like i'm being abused. the card has no outstanding holding or wait on it. it's just sitting there, unable to be used, and flat out feels like a scam. it had previous XXXX XXXX holds for trying to add it to their funds and failing ( big surprise ). this is happening to numerous coworkers as well. i have checked the website and it claims the funds are in full and able to be used. this happened a few years ago and they sent a cheque via mail, in 2020? ( different address ) i believe. these cards are a literal scam. never had an issue with visa. i am requesting a cheque be sent to : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, oh XXXX or XXXX, i'd take XXXX. Consumer Complaint: I received a {$100.00} American Express gift card as a gift. I tried to use this card in person at multiple retailers on XX/XX/XXXX and was not able to because it doesn't have a chip. I tried to use it at multiple online retailers on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and because it is an " anonymous '' card that you can not tie an address to, no online retailer would accept it. I finally found a tip online from people that have been having this same problem ( for years ) that small dollar amount reloads to XXXX will go through. I was able to move {$50.00} to my XXXX account before the card was shut off with XXXX for suspicion of fraudulent activity. I called American Express XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that they can not add an address, they can not remove the block, and that I should just keep trying to use it. I asked for a replacement card and they wouldn't send a replacement card with the remaining balance for the stated reason that I would have the same problem - except it would have resolved MY problem with {$50.00} remaining on the card since I figured out XXXX would allow me to transfer up to {$50.00} off of it before it got flagged. I asked to speak to supervisors 3 times and was denied. I was finally put " on hold '' for a supervisor who never answered. This is a scam and I have absolutely no way to use the remaining balance on this card, they stole money from people and it can not be used.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I had incident with American Express where I decided to terminate my dealings with them. I closed both credit card accounts ( one that has a credit balance, and they still have not refunded ), multiple savings accounts and requested 4 CD accounts to be closed. They sent me forms to close the accounts. I returned one for the account maturing XX/XX/XXXX, but never received the funds. When I called to inquire, they said they rejected the form because the account was in the wrong place. This rejection was never communicated to me. Although I have already submitted the required form, they state a new form must be submitted, and the account will now have closure penalties. I wish for american express to do as initially instructed and close the account as requested, and return my money, as well as to refund the credit balance on the credit card that has been closed.
