Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 three ( 3 ) separate charges, each in the amount of {$1300.00} were made in the XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Florida ( Store Number XXXX ). When I noticed these fraudulent charges when I checked my online banking app on XX/XX/2023 I went to my nearest Wells Fargo bank branch. I worked with a banker to report this fraudulent activity to the fraud claim department. The credit card used for these transactions ( ending in XXXX ) was immediately closed. A few days later I received a new credit card in the mail. I never received any follow up from Wells Fargo about the status of this investigation. On XX/XX/2023 I called Wells Fargo and they told me that the investigation was closed, and I am held responsible for the charges. Since I had never received any documentation from Wells Fargo in reference to this I requested a copy of the letter and the supporting documentation used in their investigation. In a letter from Wells Fargo dated XX/XX/2023 Wells Fargo noted " the transactions is question are pos XXXX, meaning that the physical actual card used the tapped feature at merchant location. Since the XXXX chip was in your possession during the time of the transactions it has been determined that the transactions are valid. '' I requested that Wells Fargo reopen this claim, and at the advice of Wells Fargo, I supplied a police report and documentation from my employer that I was present at work in XXXX, New Jersey on the date of these transactions. Since the transactions were made in XXXX, Florida, it was impossible that I authorized these transactions. Wells Fargo has since receiving this documentation, denied the claim a XXXX time. I contacted Wells Fargo today and advised them that I would be filing a report with the CFPB and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. They advised me that they will reopen the claim once more. I advised them that the police department is looking into the video footage that the XXXX XXXX has of the person who made the purchases, but I have not received any follow up from the police department in regards to the release of this footage. I am seeking full reimbursement of the XXXX separate purchases of {$1300.00}, for a total amount of {$4000.00}. I am at a loss as to what I need to do to get this money credited. It is obvious that I did not authorize these purchases, but supplying Wells Fargo with all the supporting documentation I have, they continue to deny the fraud claim.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to express my ongoing concern and to seek resolution regarding the mobile deposit issue that I previously reported. Despite the closure of the case on your end, the issue remains unresolved from my perspective. In an earlier complaint, I was advised to present the physical checks or contact the check maker to file a claim with their bank. However, I must reiterate that the physical checks are no longer in my possession, and the check maker was unable to file a claim with their bank for the funds. This puts me in a challenging position, as I am unable to follow the suggested steps. Given this predicament, I am seeking your assistance in understanding how I can recuperate the money that was deposited into my account ending in XXXX. This amount represents a significant sum, and its absence has caused considerable financial distress. I respect the bank 's policies and the necessity of security measures. However, I believe my situation warrants special consideration due to the unique circumstances. I kindly request a re-evaluation of my case and a clear pathway to resolve this issue. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and assistance. I am looking forward to your response and a favorable resolution. Sincerely,

Consumer Complaint: This case has been taking almost a year. I suffered from an ID theft in XX/XX/2023. I discovered this by one of my financial institution 's notification. Altogether three of my accounts were affected : XXXX credit card, XXXX account, Wells Fargo credit card. I'm filing this complaint against Wells Fargo. With the other two institutions, the matter was cleared within a month. With WF, they are still sending me the bill that I do not owe. Within the 1st week of the incident, I filed a police report, FTC report, and placed security freeze with the 3 major credit bureaus. All of these docs can be submitted upon request. With WF ( and the other two institutions ), I filed the fraud form identifying the fraud transactions and paying off the valid transactions. Nevertheless, they say that the account was opened by myself initially and therefore I'm responsible for all those fraud charges. I do not know what to say to this logic. I repeatedly requested that the account must be permanently closed, which they didn't to my very surprise. In XXXX last year they sent me a resolution letter. However, a few weeks later they sent another letter that there is a remaining balance. The balance was due to the transactions that took place after XX/XX/XXXX when I completely stopped using any credit/debit card. ( Even as of today, the security freeze is in effect and I don't have any card. ) I received another decision letter on XXXX last year that was in my favor. To my surprise, on XX/XX/XXXX they sent me another letter that I still owe the balance. There must be something very wrong with their system. I'm starting to take legal action and this is my first step. I'm doing my research to take additional actions, including small claims court and/or consultation of a lawyer. I wouldn't normally consider the last option since the amount debated is around {$2700.00}. The lawyer fee will easily exceed it. However, XXXX found that I was affected by their data breach incident several years back. I believe that I can secure the funds for the suit from them. I was WF 's 30 year mortgage customer and paid it off in 11 years XXXX last year. There was not a single late payment but this is how they treat their " valued '' customers. My credit score was XXXX before the incident but now XXXX, mainly because WF 's wrong credit report.
