Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: 1 ) I rented books from a library with my library card. I never agreed to any debt collector application agreement on my library card. I always assumed that because the library allows XXXX late fees that there would be no debt collection on items and only freeze on the library account as to deny me access to rent further items until I returned the items or paid for the items. Because I can still return the items on a XXXX late fee plan then I should not be obligated to be subjected to a credit debt collect by the library when the good will of the library loan is the XXXX interest fee. In a previous CFPB complaint I recognized credit card companies can take advantage of marketing ploys such as XXXX XXXX thus this debt is not actual debt because there is no obligation to pay off the debt immediately. Thus the library is using a similar marketing ploy like XXXX fees on late books to illegal and fraudulently entice local residents to borrow without an obligation to worry about fees thus when subjected to a late charge that it would be incorrect to recognize any obligation to pay for any charges because no late fees exist such no late contract exists. Because no late fees exist that I do in fact am required to return these items upon continuation of using the library card effectively but I should not be obligated to be pawned off to a debt collector as a concern for fraudulent marketing practices of credit of library loans for which I did not agree to. I believe I am only obligated to return the items or there will be a freeze on my account thus I can pay these charges to XXXX XXXX my account but in no way is this legal to subject a XXXX late fee period where this is obligation to recognize late fees thus the items are not subjected to any late charges in fact and I do. it owe anything to the library unless I am going to continue use of my library card thus the library can write off their charges but I am simply not obligated to recognize any obligation to pay any fraudulent debt scams such for this loan shark where thus library never acted this way prior and that because they have a new library that they did not subject the tax payer to pay for but they are now subjecting a fraudulent loan shark scam that this should be corrected to make sure loan sharks upon which I did not agree to any collection agency agreement where my library card is not a credit card by design and that I should not be under any obligation that I did not specifically agree to. 2 ) Debt collectors are part of the library thus they dont have any real information for which I can appeal thus I am not obligated to speak on a false debts that did not accrue on a debit card or credit card thus my library account is not linked to any bank account thus I am nit obligated to pay off any false or fraudulent charges as id the library card is a credit card company. Even a credit card company allows rollover with interest thus I did not signup for any credit scheme where I was not subjected to any credit bureau review which any debt collection is a concern to repossess something off mine thus is a form of wrongful intimidation. Any library credit check could be deemed illegal thus any debt obligations is a concern for fraudulent loan sharks where I was not approved for any credit line as an obligation to receive a library card.

Consumer Complaint: I previously had Internet service with XXXX XXXX. Couldn't afford the service anymore. I was informed I owed {$240.00} for the devices used for the Internet service. Called them and instructed a sales rep come pick up their device. He did pick it up and informed me there was nothing owed once the device was returned. I received a call from an attorney who stated I owed the amount listed above. I informed her the device was returned. I look at my credit report and the amount they claim I owe has gone up to {$500.00}. I don't owe XXXX XXXX anything once their device was returned.

Consumer Complaint: This debt has been paid in full. Previously, this debt was held by another agency. I reported and demonstrated proof of payment and the debt was removed from my credit report. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called and spoke with a representative by the name, XXXX. She informed me that this debt was in fact valid and she was looking at the documents in my file. I requested this information be sent via mail and she disconnected the call after telling me she is unable to do so. This debt is NOT valid. It has been resold and any attempt to collect on this is void.

Consumer Complaint: The debt collector failed to send communication regarding the debt, introduction of who they are, what the debt is for, and my right to dispute. They just appeared on my credit report without notice. They must abide by the regulations and validate the debt. This has not been done. How did this debt collector, even have access to my credit report without the proper protocols and regulations?
