Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Hello, this is a follow up on complaint XXXX, which I have been unable to successfully resolve. Specifically, in my previous complaint I had asked my servicer University Accounting Service ( UAS ) for documentation showing that the listed lender " XXXX XXXX XXXX '' ( XXXX ) was the current legal owner of my student loan debt. I asked this because 1 ) the provided master promissory note does not mention this lender in any way, and 2 ) there was no listed contact, webpage, or any searchable online presence of this lender that would allow me to contact the lender and ask for proof of ownership, and 3 ) I have had a number of issues already with this particular loan that have led me to question its validity ( please see complaints XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ). As a response to my previous complaint XXXX, UAS provided contact information ( including email and telephone number ) for the person they have listed as the chief financial officer for XXXX, Mr. XXXX XXXX ( see attached response letter ). Since then, I have emailed Mr. XXXX on three separate occasions ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX, see attached for copies of emails ) politely requesting that Mr. XXXX provide documentation that he or his company are the current legal owners of this debt. I also had a phone conversation with Mr. XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX in which Mr. XXXX explained to me that XXXX had acquired the loan from the original lender years ago, but he did not say that he was willing to provide proof that he or an active organization in his name currently legally owned the debt. I think that it is within my rights as a borrower to confirm that the student debt I owe is legitimate. In this case, I think that it is fair at the very minimum to ask that either UAS or Mr. XXXX provide documentation showing that 1 ) XXXX is an active lending organization ( I can not find any website or contact info for it online ) and 2 ) that Mr. XXXX or an active organization he runs bought this student loan from the original lender ( ie, establishing chain of title ).

Consumer Complaint: A loan was taken out in my name in XXXX, XXXX through XXXX XXXX. I was the borrower and mother was the co-borrower. This loan was taken out for {$27000.00} so I could complete my XXXX college education at XXXX XXXX University. Upon my graduation in XXXX, XXXX I had started to make the monthly payments with the loan servicer, XXXX. Due to lack of steady income I eventually defaulted on my loan and it was sold to multiple debt collectors over the years. Over the years since XXXX, I attempted to pay what I could on this loan. I was still never able to make the minimum monthly payments over {$500.00} for this loan so my loan continued to get sold to different debt collectors. From XXXX, XXXX through XXXX, XXXX I had been working with the debt collector, XXXX XXXX XXXX and making monthly payments between {$100.00} - {$300.00} until I lost my job in XXXX, XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX told me they would continue to work with me if my situation changed. I got a job in XXXX, XXXX and called XXXX XXXX XXXX to start making payments again. However, when I called I was told that my loan was no longer with them and they did not know who it was with. Today, XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter in the mail from a law firm reaching out to help me with a lawsuit that has been filed against me by XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have not been served or summoned so this advertisement I received from the law firm was my first knowledge that I was being sued by XXXX XXXX XXXX. I believe that XXXX XXXX XXXX is using deceptive collections practices by filing a law suit against me more than 10 years after I defaulted on this loan. The statute of limitations for private student loans does not exceed 10 years in most states. I took this loan out in XXXX and defaulted on it more than 10 years ago. By getting me to work with debt collectors and making fruitless payments in hopes that this would not happen, they have deceived me so that the statute of limitations re-started for them and they were able to file a lawsuit against me. For reference, my loan started at {$27000.00} in XXXX, XXXX and is now at {$44000.00} to date ( XX/XX/XXXX ).

Consumer Complaint: My federal perkins loan provider ( University Accounting Services, {$1200.00} ) changed my " in-school '' status to " out-of-school '' while I was still in school. I officially graduated in XX/XX/XXXX, but on XX/XX/XXXX I discovered through a credit check that I had missed 5 payments to University Accounting Services. Once I discovered this I paid the loan in full, including late fees ( {$48.00} ) and asked them to remove the complaints from my credit record. I was told they would look into it but I have not heard anything since. I emailed them on XX/XX/XXXX and was once again told they would look into it. I was supposed to have a 6 month grace period, so my first payment should have been due in XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I am repeatedly receiving robo calls from Transworld Systems Inc. telling me to call them concerning some debt they are attempting to collect. I am not indebted to any one or any company. I have never received any written notification from Transworld Systems, or any other person or company, concerning any debt I owe. I refuse to give these idiots the satisfaction of calling them about a non-existent debt! They obviously have the wrong telephone number in their system.

Consumer Complaint: I had an XXXX XXXX card through XXXX XXXX a couple years ago. I thought I paid the balance on the card but it still showed unpaid. I called XXXX XXXX ( XXXX - XXXX XXXX ) on Thurday XX/XX/19, I spoke with XXXX who stated that the unpaid balance was sent to NCI , a collection agency. I called NCI ( XXXX - XXXX - XXXX ). I spoke with XXXX. I told XXXX that I am willing to pay the amount I owe, {$370.00}. XXXX and the agency needs to email me a letter showing that I paid my debt. XXXX told me that there is no guarantee that the agency will email me a letter saying that I don't owe the money. XXXX put me hold so he can speak to his supervisor XXXX. XXXX returned and said, the agency will PROBABLY email me and if I don't receive a letter, I need to call back, but there is no guarantee. I am willing to pay the {$370.00} But I need a letter that proves that I paid the money which will increase my credit score. My question is : when One pays for something, should the person receive a RECEIPT automatically?

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: I recently had a debt that I was paying off which was referred to TSI ( Transworld Systems IncXXXX ) for further collections actions, when the debt was received and I acknowledge the debt and let them know that the balance they were collecting on was incorrect and I would like to get a correct statement of the balance owed because the amount is incorrect since the payment is being made and the account is not being credited or updated with the current payment amount. The TSI representative was short and impatient was not helpful in researching what was being provided, at the beginning of the call the representative provided the mini Miranda and during the discussion of the debt I also referred back to the mini Miranda " this is an attempt to collect on a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose '' the amount you are collecting on is incorrect and since your balance and my balance is not matching and I am requesting validation of the debt amount and all the payments received on the account. The representative stated that they have no way of getting the information but they can get a validation of debt, I requested the validation of debt information to be mailed to me and to date nothing was mailed or received. I received a statement from the creditor which I sent to TSI for verification of payment received and posted correctly to the account. Based on the fair debt collections practices TSI failed to carry out the proper verification of the debt which may result in an overpayment since the debt was paid off and no confirmed updates were sent communicated to the credit by TSI. Please investigate TSI practices and communication methods to include aggressive collection practices and incorrect balances when verifying the debt that is owed. Please investigate this complaint promptly.

Consumer Complaint: Nationwide Credit continues to call my office in spite of the fact that I have told them repeatedly that the person they are trying to contact is not here and does not work here. Most of the time if I do answer the call, there is no one there. No message is ever left either. I have called the office number in Illinois and spoken to a manager, told him that the person is not here and to stop calling. I have written a letter to Nationwide, asking that they contact me via mail if I owe someone money ( which I don't ), and to stop calling. They continue to call, but don't leave a message. This is harassment. Nationwide phone number is XXXX
