Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: XXXX, Transunion, and XXXX have been reporting on my personal SSN credit report a collection account from XXXX XXXX XXXX from a fraudulent transaction I disputed on my XXXX XXXX Credit Card. For over two years, XXXX XXXX XXXX had harassed me via phone calls calling to collect a debt that I did not create or owe. The reporting agencies and the creditor mentioned above have been put on notice multiple times via mail for violating my rights Fair Credit Reporting Act and other laws that govern every consumer in America. The past few years have been a nightmare with no successful credit applications being processed due to these collections negatively impacting my report. Reporting wrongful information on ones credit report is a violation of 15 USC 1666 where its states that a company has to conduct an investigation and remove the account in the event that the information is determined to be an error. The reporting agencies successfully removed the report from my report for one month and then successfully removed the collection from my report only to have it added on again. Aside from the the original creditor, XXXX XXXX XXXX, continuing to sell my information to 3rd parties reporting agencies, a violation under 15 USC 6802 Obligations with respect to disclosures of personal information, they also violated my rights by never having sent me a opt out form allowing me to opt out of any reporting of these accounts onto my credit report. For these reasons, I would like to file a complaint against these companies for their damages due to their unlawful acts and unfair practices. Their use of my information is not authorized and has been made known to them in several written notices of the course of the past year attempting to have the false information removed.
