Consumer Complaint: I received an email purportedly from Synchrony Bank concerning a XXXX ( retailer ) credit card for which I was already accepted. Unfortunately, I am still recovering from COVID and am susceptible to bouts of confusion. Even though the email was in my Junk folder, I opened it and saw it was a link to get info about my card application. I selected the link, and on the website, which was too simple looking for bank business, I entered the last four digits of my SSAN, my ZIP code and my date of birth. At that point the site said the info was not valid and that I should try again. Only then did I realize what I had done. The web site address is " XXXXs : XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX '' and I have attached the email. I doubt that XXXX or Synchrony bank are involved but someone is getting information about credit requests to them. I will request a credit lock immediately to prevent anyone from requesting new credit in my name. Other than that I am not sure what to do. I can only wait for these COVID symptoms to clear so I can start thinking clearly again. Thanks for your time.

Consumer Complaint: Sams Club credit card. Serviced by Synchrony Bank. Synchrony Bank keeps sending me alerts about a Sams Club Mastercard card number that is not even mine. I have called them three times now. Only to be told they do not see a problem at their end so there is nothing they can do about it. I finally told them I was filing a complaint with the CFPB.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX contacted me to state that I had opened an account under my XXXX name ( XXXX ) at an address close to one I had lived in years before-but not the exact address. I have been using my married name for over 13 years and the account was opened after I was married and using the name XXXX. I told XXXX I did not open the account and told them that the address was incorrect as well as in my maiden name. I was told it was all set however I have recently received letters from XXXX collection agency stating that they bought the paypal debt and were looking to collect. I told them the same information and asked them to verify the account. The original account was never put on my credit report, nor has the current account, yet. This account was open fraudulently.
