Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank closed an account that had a perfect payment history, and did so using algorithms that are programmed with bias and error within them. Their actions created damages and I am seeking reinstatement of the account, a written explanation provided to all credit reporting bureaus, and fines and penalties, as I anticipate that this is a systemic issue causing harm and damages to consumers, Synchrony Bank, in taking unilateral actions against my credit worthiness, goes against all messages from XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and the credit reporting bureaus that had seen my credit score jumping each month. The damages created by Synchrony Bank lowered my credit XXXX score by nearly 7 % and damaged my name and reputation. I recently had closed a PayPal account, another SYnchrony organization, because PayPal was using a form of SOcial Scoring, that injected political agenda and bias into credit worthiness and which was being XXXX to seek a social scoring, as is used in XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and many other politicians. The social Soring system is in direct violation of FCA and regulations regarding credit.

Consumer Complaint: I got a 1099-C form in the mail from Syncrony Bank . Upon talking to the agents from Syncrony Bank, I have realized that this amount on the 1099-C for {$800.00} is from a Walmart Credit Card that Syncrony use to hold and was sold to XXXX XXXX which now has it. I do recall the sale of this card and the transition went flawless from Syncrony Bank to XXXX XXXX. I also recall the balance transfer at the time of the switch over was the exact amount that was owed when it was with Syncrony. My complaint is that I will have to file this 1099-C as income this tax season and I will have to pay taxes on this with the US Government this year and since my balance was flawlessly transferred from Syncrony to XXXX XXXX XXXX if I was to pay my balance in full with XXXX XXXX ( I still have this Walmart Card active with XXXX XXXX ) I will be paying this total twice! It is not my fault or the fault of consumers that Syncrony settled all of their Walmart accounts with XXXX XXXX for a lump sum payment for XXXX XXXX to take over the Walmart cards and then try to fraud the consumers into paying the Charge offs so that Syncrony could not assume this debt. If you were to buy a house for {$70.00}, ooo and in turn sale said house for {$50.00}, ooo you DO NOT try to go back and get them to pay the other {$20.00}, ooo through a charge off through the tax system. That is FRAUD, and BASICALLY UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. This company should not be able to regulate ANY credit Cards in the future and I do have an Amazon Card which is currently in good standing with Syncrony Bank as its provider currently and I am thinking of closing this card as well because of this situation. It is my belief that Syncrony Bank is doing this simply because most of American People are to busy to really dig into this and will just file the added Income on their 2022 tax return and just move along.

Consumer Complaint: Received unsolicited letter from Synchrony Bank requested identify verification for a XXXX XXXX credit product. Checked my credit report, and Synchrony Bank had done a credit inquiry through XXXX XXXX credit without my authorization. Called Synchrony turns out they have a special data interchange relationship with XXXX XXXX. Also a private label credit card. Synchrony XXXX apologized and said they would remove credit inquiry on my XXXX credit profile. Has not happened yet, it is still on my credit profile with XXXX. Synchrony and XXXX need to be bounced by the CFPB so as not to all them to illegally access consumer credit profiles without the consumers permission.

Consumer Complaint: On Saturday XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX I received a call from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX and spoke with a representative. Usually I don't answer unknown numbers but because my Identity has been stolen, I'm receiving calls from Banks in regards to my credit freeze and fraud alert. So I'm answering every call I receive because I don't know if it's a bank or not. I wasn't aware of XXXX as a debt collector so I did not want to give my personal information to the representative, I said I would call back because I need to verify the information. But the representative became very pushy and aggressive and I told him I don't trust him and I don't know if he's a scammer too so I'll call back. The representative hung up the phone and immediately called me back on a separate line ( fake phone # XXXX at XXXX ) to cuss me out, insult my wife and mother, and make threats against me. It was clearly the same guy because it was the exact same voice and he said he was going to use my information to steal my identity as well. I hung up on him and first verified XXXX XXXX as a debt collector and then called them back to report him but the offices were not open because it was the weekend. I included documentation showing that they are a debt collector attempting to collect a debt ( I found a correspondence from them ) and screenshots from my phone of the incoming calls, the time of the calls and the duration of each ( which shows he called me immediately ).

Consumer Complaint: I recently received a copy of my credit report, and I notice there is an unauthorized credit inquiry made by SYNCB/TJX CO DC XXXX XXXX XXXX 2022. To my knowledge, I have not signed any documents authorizing the company in question to view my credit report. The listed inquiry was without authorization, and for no legitimate business purposes.
