Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I received an alert on my phone that my card was charged for {$XXXX} on a hotel site. I did not authorized the charge, i was checking hotels at the time on XXXX. I called immediately my credit card company : TJX Rewards XXXX XXXX issued by Synchrony Bank. I explained the situation and requested the charge to be denied as it was still pending. The man on the phone said they had to let it go through but not to worry as they would investigate and refund the money to me. On XX/XX/XXXX i received the refund, then on XX/XX/XXXX i was charged again for the same and it was noted on the statement as a re-bill. I called to inquiry what has happened and they told me the merchant ( scammer ) had provided sufficient documentation to prove i made the purchase, i requested such documentation because it was a lie. The documents they sent were the merchant 's rules on cancellations and such ( i am sending this documents in the attachment ). I told them i did not care what their rules on cancellations were, because i have never made a booking with them to begin with, they stole my information ( i'm thinking because i have everything stored in google ( including the credit card to be prefilled ) and by this time i had already investigated more of this merchant, there were hundreds of complains same as mine on the site XXXX. I told the agent this and that i needed the dispute to be reopened. They reopened and sent me the same packet with the scammer 's rules on cancellations and told me they sided with the merchant. So i paid the credit card balance in full and closed the account in XXXX of XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX i received a call from a man, he presented himself as an agent for the credit card company and asked if i was satisfied with the results of the investigation. I told him i was not but i did not care anymore as the account was closed already. He said if wanted to he would reopen the investigation. I told him to go ahead but i had no faith in their system. On XX/XX/XXXX i received an email from Synchrony bank containing a letter saying they would be refunding the money within XXXX days ( letter is attached also ). Since i never got the refund i called to inquire about the check in XX/XX/XXXX, instead of looking into what happened with the check, they once again reopened the case, i did not hear back so i called on XX/XX/XXXX and they told me they sent a letter on XX/XX/XXXX siding with the scammers once again. I asked why would they do that and what happened with their resolution from XX/XX/XXXX. They said they did not know but the case was closed and against me.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I made a purchase on my CareCredit Card in the amount of {$2000.00} through XXXX XXXX XXXX for a XXXX for my dog. This was the deposit amount. On XX/XX/XXXX, I made a purchase on my CareCredit Card in the amount of {$3100.00} that was the balance for the XXXX. Both of these purchases are reduced interest purchases that require a minimum monthly payment. On XX/XX/XXXX I made a payment in the amount of {$120.00} ( I called in to give direction that {$75.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$3100.00}, {$48.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$2000.00} ). CareCredit offers no way to apply these payments aside from calling in directly after making a payment and requesting the payment be applied to specific promotional purchases. During this discussion, I learned that my minimum payment to meet these 2 purchases is $ XXXX towards both. I made my next payment on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$220.00} ( I called in to give direction that {$76.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$3100.00}, {$49.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$2000.00}, {$100.00} of this was to be applied to the oldest deferred interest promotional purchase ). On XX/XX/XXXX I made a payment in the amount of {$120.00} ( I called in to give direction that {$76.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$3100.00} and {$49.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$2000.00} ). On XX/XX/XXXX it showed that I had a minimum payment due of over {$300.00}. I called in to inquire and they informed me that the payment made on XX/XX/XXXX was not applied to my reduced interest purchases. I was informed that it could not be corrected once a payment was applied. I informed the company that their error in accounting was not my issue. I was informed that I would need to speak to a manager every time I called in to ensure my payment was applied correctly. While on the phone, I made my usual {$220.00} payment ( with direction that {$76.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$3100.00}, {$49.00} of this was to be applied to the purchase in the amount of {$2000.00}, {$100.00} of this was to be applied to the oldest deferred interest promotional purchase ). As of this date XX/XX/XXXX I still show a minimum payment due of {$84.00}. This is not accurate and they are not applying my payments as requested. I attempted to speak with a manager today and was left on hold for 30+ minutes, never speaking with a manager. These practices are very deceptive and their application of payments are not accurate. I should not have to jump through this many hoops to ensure I get my bills paid off in time. Due to their error, they are informing me that my payment can not be applied as I requested on XX/XX/XXXX. I am familiar with accounting and there is no reason they can not accurately apply my payment as requested.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: purchased a XXXX XXXX mower from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX on a 24 month XXXX interest loan. because of them reporting it incorrectly to synchrony Bank which purchased the loan, it was reported as 9 different transactions on my first bill which didn't arrive until over 2 months later when I had to contact THEM after getting a notice from XXXX XXXX. After several talks ( sometimes very heated when they kept switching me to agent after agent trying to collect a debt ) over the first couple months during which I had paid them ON TIME for the purchase, we FINALLY thought it had been rectified. During this time, they had charged me with TEN NON-PAYMENT charges of {$39.00} in only 6 months and my XXXX XXXX of over XXXX had been reduced to BELOW XXXX. We FINALLY managed to talk to someone who found the error and returned my score ( after 3 different fluctuations up and down ) to somewhere near XXXX again. We THOUGHT it had been finally fixed but today, I AGAIN received notice my account was in arrears and my score was AGAIN near XXXX. I have found it impossible to talk to anyone other than a XXXX who has NO power to do anything other than cause me to scream at them as they tell me over and over and over they are simply trying to collect a debt. At NO TIME have I failed to maintain a POSITIVE on time payment amount AUTOMATICALLY sent by my bank 2 weeks BEFORE the due date which will pay off the note before the 24 month period agreed on initially. I'm XXXX XXXX XXXX with a XXXX and being driven by frustration to literally scream over having to try explaining this OVER 20 TIMES to one XXXX after another is NOT what I want to repeat. I have found out Synchrony Bank has an average positive score of between 1 and 1and 1/2 out of 5 and it's obvious why since NO-ONE in a position of power will speak to me.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a credit card with Venmo which is backed by Synchrony Bank, of course, I put all my correct personal information in the application form, and everything worked perfectly until XXXX day I find myself checking my info in the Venmo app, I notice that my email, and phone number, and address had been changed, I decided to call the customer service department and also observed that the automated system did not recognize the last XXXX digits of my social security number, clearly this information had also been changed, When I finally get to speak to a representative they takes my complaint and tells me that I am going to receive a correspondence requesting some documents, indeed several letters have arrived and I have sent the same information many times, the same forms, I have signed everything I had to sign so that they do their checks and my problem has never been resolved ( on XXXX occasion they told me that they had not received the documentation, which makes me think that they do not have control of their correspondence ), I have talked to many customer service representatives and nobody has answers, honestly, I don't know what to do and although they closed my credit card I have never stopped paying on time. Before this situation with this bank, it had also happened to me that credit cards had been requested or issued in my name that I had not processed and I realized this by letters that arrived at my address, which I also reported. This company has committed several cases of abuse with my personal information and for proof of this, I am going to attach information from another situation I had with them.

Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank closed my Care Credit credit card and notified me after it was closed. The reason they provided is because my credit score has changed and I was deemed as high risk. My Care Credit card has had a {$0.00} balance since XX/XX/XXXX when I paid off the card in full. My credit score was lower when I initially got the Care Credit card. Since getting my card my score has gone up and my debt has been paid down. They just approved me for a different credit card last month and provided me with a higher credit limit than the card that they closed. I hold another card with them that they did not close that currently has a balance. There have been multiple reports from customers of Synchrony reporting that they have had their cards closed without warning that currently have {$0.00} balance and haven't been used for quite sometime, with the reason given that it was due to their credit report. Closing someone's account without warning can damage a person 's credit score. The reason being provided does not hold appear to be accurate given the additional actions taken from the bank to decide on my credit worthiness. I called customer service to get further explanation but was told the only information they have is the same that's provided in the letter that was sent to me.

Consumer Complaint: I had a problem with Synchrony Bank concerning over charging me with recurring charges. They attempted to correct the recurring charges after I submitted a complaint to OCC but they changed my credit limit from {$5000.00} to {$250.00} and then had a rep give me a phony URL address which locked my computer and my identity were stolen with my old card. They told me my old card was suspended and all charges on the card was suspended as well. They issued me a new card with a new ending and my limit was back to {$5000.00} when I called to inquire about all those charges popping up on my Bill Pay from XXXX XXXX XXXX the issuer coming from Synchrony Bank. I find out about all these recurring charges and the rep telling me I owed {$50.00} I said for what? Everything from the old card was suspended after my computer was locked after the phony URL given to me by your rep ; then, she said it is a billing dispute and I said when are you going to straighten the issue out. Plus contact XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX where's my Bill Pay and all these statements coming up. I donot understand where they are coming from and at first I was paying them but not anymore. YOU ARE just adding interest and late fees. When, I hung up. Synchrony Bank sent me a statement they changed my credit limit again from {$5000.00} to {$250.00} and I reported everything to OCC then OCC sent me a letter to report everything to you without letting me know which of these case numbers generated was Synchrony Banks. I have three case numbers : XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Was overlooking my credit card statement as I was having trouble paying down my balance and found that predatory card security fee that Synchrony Bank states I clicked on, knowingly that I didn't or would ever agree to that. They were charging me small subliminal " Card Security Fees ''. The operator at the phone number of XXXX told me I clicked on a free 90 day trial that in turn rolls over to a {$1.00} per XXXX $ balance charge on outstanding balance. I asked them how long I was paying for this as I had no idea what was being charged, they stated I was paying them it since XXXX. I continuously pay down my credit cards and never have paid interest and everything is up to date. I unknowingly was charged these monthly fees every month until todays date when I called and told them to refund the fees that I did not agree upon. Every month that there is an open balance, I was charged {$1.00} per {$100.00} outstanding for a service that was never disclosed to agreeance on. I would have clicked no for a fact as a credit card security fee is never necessary upon my stable above average credit score. The crazy part to me was that they were willing to refund me {$260.00} of the total {$430.00} that I paid into it. I told them no, this was not acceptable as I want a full refund. The person who I talked to then said they would forward to a resolution team with the same predatory fraud answer and hung up after I told them I want to speak with a supervisor. This call occurred on XX/XX/XXXX @ XXXX PST. Dates of charge are from XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. This company is the scum of the earth and only refund a portion in hopes they keep 40 % and only offer 60 % back to the consumer who had no idea they were paying towards a unknown, not approved fee. Why else would they hold 40 % for themselves and not agree on the entire amount. They state their system shows I approved it. I want tangible proof recording that I did so. Not some automatic system that toggles, " well I show you enrolled ''. NOT TRUE. LIARS AND THIEVES.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX we purchased several items from XXXX. XXXX. The total was {$5400.00}. The agreement made at the time of the purchase was that a portion of the purchase, {$2200.00}, was payable without interest over a period of 24 months. This calculates to {$93.00} per month. The remainder of the purchase, {$3100.00}, was payable without interest for a period of 36 months. This would calculate to $ {$88.00} per month. I have the receipt that states this information. From the above information, it would seem that I owed {$180.00} for the first 24 months and {$88.00} for the remaining 12 months. I began to receive bills from Synchrony Bank located in XXXX, FL, for the total amount of the purchase, {$5400.00}. These invoices began in XXXX of XXXX. For the first XXXX months I paid only $ XXXX month. I also attached a letter explaining that I was not responsible for the entire amount immediately. I feel the amount I paid, {$150.00}, was in error. I should have paid {$180.00}. Starting in XXXX I began to pay {$180.00} each month. In the statements from the bank there were financial penalties added to the account. Starting in XXXX of XXXX, 24 months after my original purchase, I reduced my monthly payment to {$88.00}. Through the XX/XX/XXXX payment I have paid {$4300.00}. This should result in a remaining balance of {$1000.00}. However, in my latest statement from the bank the remaining balance is {$2100.00} In XXXX of XXXX I met with XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding this matter. He agreed that the terms of payment were as I outlined in point XXXX above, but was otherwise not helpful. In XXXX, XXXX, I spoke with XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and explained this to him. He said that he would call XXXX. XXXX and ask their bank to acknowledge the original agreement. * At the time of the last statement from Synchrony Bank, I had paid {$4500.00}, with a remaining balance of {$890.00}. * Per the statement from the bank, the balance is {$2000.00} and I have a " XXXX XXXX '' amount of {$130.00}. Please understand that there have been numerous letters accompanying my monthly bank payments, but seemingly with no concrete results. I have also spoken with a representative from the bank, and that person dismissed my concerns without any explanation. Also understand that I keep very thorough notes and files and could supply anyone asking with a written history of this matter.
