Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against XXXX, one of the major credit reporting agencies, for allowing an unauthorized and unverified debt collection entry on my credit report by Portfolio Recovery. I recently discovered that Portfolio Recovery has reported a collection account on my credit report managed by XXXX. This action has been taken without my prior knowledge, consent, or any form of communication from Portfolio Recovery 's end. I have never been contacted by Portfolio Recovery regarding any debt, nor have I ever engaged in any form of transaction or agreement that would warrant such a collection notice. Furthermore, I firmly believe that this collection entry is erroneous as I do not owe any debt to Portfolio Recovery. The lack of initial communication and verification from Portfolio Recovery 's side before reporting to XXXX is concerning and, I believe, a violation of my consumer rights. This unverified and unauthorized entry on my credit report has caused me undue stress and may potentially harm my creditworthiness and financial reputation. Therefore, I request the following actions : A thorough investigation into this matter by XXXX and the immediate removal of the collection entry from my credit report if it is found to be unsubstantiated. Assurance that such incidents will not recur, and my consumer rights will be duly respected and protected. A written confirmation from XXXX and Portfolio Recovery regarding the resolution of this complaint. I trust that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will take this complaint seriously and ensure a prompt and fair resolution. I am prepared to provide any additional information or documentation as required. If this is a violation I want to sue! Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX
