Consumer Complaint: Our customer paid us on XX/XX/2022, and Venmo took out the transaction fee ( 1.9 % + {$0.00} ). Their system requested input of either our XXXX or XXXX. When I type in either of these numbers, the system returns with a message This number doesn't match what the IRS has on file. I confirmed the number with IRS and I am certain my SSN number is correct. Venmo has placed our account on hold. After several conversations with their support staff it has been verified that the problem is on their end and they have assured us that their engineers are working on the problem. After a month of going back and forth, I requested Venmo to send a check to the address on file for the balance of the money in the account. They have refused and the only choices I was given was to either wait until your engineers fixed the problem or cancel the order and request the customer repay another way. Unfortunately, neither of these options are reasonable choices for our company. I contacted a lawyer and they sent a letter to Venmo. They ( Venmo ) basically responded they were in receipt of the letter and as soon as the engineers fixed the problem they would contact me. They also agreed to forfeit the transaction fee when the problem was resolved. Venmo has not given me or the lawyer a date as to when this problem will be resolved. Today is XX/XX/XXXX and my account is on hold and Venmo is still refusing to refund our money and they are refusing to send the money via check and again not provided a date when I can except this problem to be resolved.

Consumer Complaint: Hi. I hope you can assist : A month or so ago I opened a business account with PayPal.Inc. to help me process payments for products that I make. I have had a personal account with them for years with no problems, but I noticed one problem after another when trying to get funds transferred from my PayPal business account into my business bank account. PayPal claimed that since I was a new business, there was a XXXX waiting period before the money could be made available to me. I was okay with that even though I thought it was weird. In order for money to be transferred to my business bank account, that account had to be linked to my PayPal business account. So we went through the whole process of them sending small deposits which I entered into PayPal 's site, and the bank account was verified. However, in just a few days, PayPal backtracked and claimed they couldn't link the bank account and release the funds to me. So I put a credit card on there, then a debit card that is directly linked to my business bank account, and they claimed they couldn't use them to transfer the money. It is only {$120.00} but my sale was {$150.00} to the customer. When they backtracked my bank account, two payments to USPS did not get paid, so the {$150.00} suddenly changed to {$120.00}, and they were putting urgent messages on my PayPal account for me to add money to the PayPal account even though they were holding my own money hostage. I repeatedly asked them to use the debit or credit card on file to pay for those charges and they claimed they couldn't do that. I kept checking in with my bank and they confirmed that it was definitely a PayPal problem because everything looked good from their end. The support person I finally had a chance to speak with ended up releasing enough of my money to pay those two USPS charges for the delivery of my customer 's packages. But they are still holding the rest of my money hostage. Now when I try to get my bank linked to PayPal, error messages tell me that my bank has already been linked. If that is true, why aren't they releasing those funds? So, my only recourse seemed to be for them to mail me a check, and then I would close the account. However, I'm being blocked from all ends because when I choose the option to get a check mailed to me, it gives me an error message and will not allow me to request it. They occasionally send me another e-mail telling me my funds are available for transfer, but I still can't link the bank account, and they won't send a check. At this point in time, I simply want to close my business account with them. I have had a good personal history with PayPal, and why they are doing this is beyond me. Since that time, I have linked with other entities with no problem at all. I have wasted days and days of messaging with them without a solution, and I don't have that kind of time anymore. The funds need to be released to me by mail because nothing else is happening, but I still occasionally get e-mails from PayPal telling me my money is available to transfer, but it still doesn't work when I go on the site. Can you assist in any way?

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I received an email from venmo stating my account had been frozen for being in violator the user agreement. I was asked in the same email to upload my ID to reactivate my account. I did as asked. On XX/XX/2022 I received an email from venmo saying they received my Id. They then asked for bank statements and pictures of my debit cards I had linked to their system. I replied to the email asking for further explanation of what exactly I needed as I did have some confusion and concerns. On XX/XX/2022 I received an email reply from a venmo account representative named XXXX. He stated that my account had now been permanently deactivated and my remaining funds of {$530.00} would be held for 180 days and there may be a chance I wouldnt be able to collect them even after that. No explanation other than them saying I broke the user agreement was given. Even after sending an email back asking for further details I was told they couldnt offer me any details due to the nature of security issues. I do have consumers rights and I feel like they have violated them. They are illegally holding my money in my eyes.

Consumer Complaint: During the night of XX/XX/XXXX somebody took control of a dormant XXXX account and ordered {$64.00} using a " payment agreement '' connecting that account to PayPal. The existence of this agreement with PayPal was not properly disclosed to me by PayPal. I was in XXXX at the time ( returned the next day, boarding pass available upon request and sent to XXXX ). PayPal summarily dismissed my case. Saying that it met my prior purchase patterns. Not true, I may have ordered 4 times total from XXXX since 2017, when this payment agreement was supposedly established. I also complained to XXXX and said they will investigate. My complaint is against Paypal for two reasons : 1. Not properly disclosing existing, old payments agreements that are a real danger like in this case, and 2. For not properly investigating when they claim they offer " fraud protection ''. I haven't used XXXX in years, and suddenly a charge appears and within minutes the hacker tries to take control of my XXXX account by changing the email ( I fortunately immediately catched that and cancelled my XXXX account ). PayPal 's fraud protection claim is misleading advertising.

Consumer Complaint: I was transferring money to a friend via Venmo. I mistakenly selected someone with the same name. During the transaction, a security feature appeared asking for the last four digits of my friends cellphone number. Upon submitting this number, the transaction was complete and the payment went through to the wrong person. Obviously, Venmos security feature does not work. I was at the mercy of a complete stranger to return my funds, which they did. The false sense of security Venmo gives is very concerning.

Consumer Complaint: Back in 2017 I had my identity stolen and they charged a Paypal account using my information. From the account, Paypal sent the debt to collections before even reaching out to me ( which I had no information or access to the account ) and ever since then, the collection agency will call multiple times a year and sent letters about the amount owed. I have contacted the agency to tell them my information was stolen and sent them online police reports and that I should be fine now but they are still trying to collect. I have checked my credit report and there is no such outstanding balance/debt on my record so I am unsure why they keep sending me letters. The agency is called XXXX XXXX, with reference # XXXX and this has been ongoing since 2017. If there was an actual outstanding balance, it should show on my credit report and affect my credit but I am not seeing anything.

Consumer Complaint: I used VENMO for all my banking and cash transactions. I was encouraged by VENMO to setup direct deposit and accept a debit card for my daily purchases. All worked well in the beginning. Two weeks ago I left for vacation and upon arrival at the hotel, my card and all debt transactions were blocked. I called VENMO, after waiting hours for their customer service to open. I was told my card was under suspicion of fraud. I notified them it was not fraud and all was good. VENMO then informed me they have no control over when the card would become active again and it would take another day for the release to occur, so that I could start using the card again. I had to leave and go back home, sleeping on the side of the road as I had no other funds available. All VENMO can do is say we are sorry but nothing we can do to help you. I closed the account immediately based on this horrible experience. This company should have some kind of procedure to release fraud alerts immediately. No other bank associated with a debit card would tell someone this! Is there some type of legal action I can take to recover my losses? Does VENMO have a legal obligation to make funds available immediately?

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is with PayPal Business Services. PP is the company we use to accept credit card payments from our customers. We have used them for years. last week on XX/XX/XXXX we transferred {$10000.00} from our money being held at Paypal to our commercial bank account. On XX/XX/XXXX Paypal did something they term as a PAYPAL REVERSAL for the {$10000.00}. Our bank has verified this was done by PayPal and PayPal, after hours of phone time admitted to having done this but they said that it might be up to 10 days to get our funds returned as they were not certain if the reversal has gone through yet! PayPal is a HUGE machine for this XXXX old to navigate. They do everything on their terms. I need this money. It is a healthy sum for a small business. I am grateful it did not cause us to bounce any checks, but that certainly could have been the case. Can you email with any info for a contacts you may have at PayPal.
