Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Problem with customer service
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I had XXXX XXXX so could not take advantage of the covid forbearance, so I consolidated into federal direct loans, so that i could at least continue to pay thru the forbearance to reduce my balance. In XXXX, when the president announced the temporary waiver, this program spoke directly to my issue. I XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX to XXXX. According to the temporary waiver, these payments would count, whereas before they did not. I submitted my signed employment verification along with any other documents need to Fed student aid on XX/XX/XXXX. My info was processed and passed to XXXX, and it was confirmed that i did qualify. By XXXX my payment counts were at XXXX This is where they still are. There has been no movement on my account since it has been taken over by XXXX. My counts don't go beyond XXXX and I just need someone to explain why. It feels like my account has been abandoned. I have tried contacting XXXX and they tell me that i need to just be patient and the counts will be updated. I uploaded a document to Fed. Student Aid that i was hoping to get a response on. I reviewed by past payments and i noticed that the counts stopped at the same time that Fed. Student Aid lists my account as being in forbearance ; my account was not in forbearance, but my servicer changed from Sallie Mae to Navient. I sent this information to Fed Student Aid along with upload of my payment history on XX/XX/XXXX. I got a notice saying i would get a response within 2 weeks. I'm still waiting. It has been over a year since i started this process, and while i understand that there is an enormous amount of interest in this program, i don't think that it is at all reasonable to have to wait over a year and not get any clarification from anyone. I was also sent a letter From XXXX, asking if i wanted the money that i paid through the pandemic pause refunded. I sent them notice indicating that I would ; crickets. I have heard nothing from anybody about anything, except XXXX telling me that I may be eligibel for pslf (! ). It's like they don't know that I exist. What do i need to do to at least get a reasonable response from someone with some knowledge of what's going on.

Consumer Complaint: I am trying to buy a home. Navient has been reporting my Student Loans as in default, even though my account has been transferred over to XXXX for around a year now. This has tanked my credit score and possibly made it impossible for me to purchase a home OR rent. They have not responded to my complaints or requests to fix this issue. I will resume calling on Monday ( XX/XX/22 ) to see if this gets rectified. Hopefully we will not lose out on this home purchase.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX i was involved in a XXXX and sustained significant XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was XXXXXXXX during this time from mid XXXX to XXXX. In XXXX I notified Navient of my accident and inquired about deferment for partially XXXX customers. They stated nothing was available. They said to try next mont next couple months for discounts or deferment. Nothing was ever made available. Ive tried 2 seperate times to do income review assessments to lower the monthly cost. This is because I was not working from XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. Currently I am on a restrictive light duty working part time. I still find difficulty making payments with my current monthly income significantly lower than last year.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I was on an interest only repayment plan for several months. When it ended, Navient called demanding a payment that was 5x what I was paying previously. I explained that I can not afford it due to cost of living. They told me to pay a certain amount to get my account caught up, so I did. Now they are claiming what I paid was not enough and my account is past due. When I explained that I paid what I was told, they told me it was the representatives error, and that I still have to make up the difference. Im not sure how its my responsibility to fix the reps error. I paid what I was told with the understanding that I would be caught up. Now the total I owe has gone up significantly past what I can afford. I tried to get back on the program I was on before, but the payment doubled and I cant afford it. They say there is nothing to be done. My interest rate is now 10 %, I will never pay these loans off. I owe more now than what I started with. That is criminal.

Consumer Complaint: Daily since XXXX. They had left over 30 messages in 30 days on my answering machine. Navient is using an automated system with a message and will hang up. The calls primarily come in between XXXX and XXXX in the evenings everyday. Recently, they have been using a third party to make the phone calls and connect to Navient. When this happens, the caller ID will state that it is a Spam Risk and will not leave a message. I have been making steady payments since XXXX and still they continue to call.

Consumer Complaint: As of today, XX/XX/2022, my private student loan with Navient is past due. The due date was XX/XX/2022. Navient has been calling me incessantly about this while I am at work. I am unable to take outside calls at my job. It's sufficient for them to call one and leave a message for me to return instead of harassing me throughout my work day.
