Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: For the past few years I have been trying to get an income based repayment plan from Navient and they have stated several times that I qualify for it, but they put the account into forbearance where it accrues insane amounts of fees over a course of a few months. Along with the accruing fees they have stated several times that they would send me the forms via email for the income based repayment and though I have called and told them several times that I have not received it, I still get told they will send it again. They confirm my email address with me each time but I still don't receive it though I receive account verification email from them. I'm so tired of Navient not doing as they say they will and getting charged these outrageous fees. I went on their site after fighting with them to send me the forms and finally downloaded them. I filled them out and sent them to the address that was given to me and low and behold I find out later when they are trying to talk me into forbearance again that they never received the paperwork.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 my neighbor XXXX XXXX was contacted by a debt collector of mine. Pioneer Credit Recovery contacted him and asked if I, XXXX XXXX lived next door and a few other random questions. She left a number to call back which is XXXX and a reference number XXXX. The representatives name was XXXX XXXX. Regardless if I owe them money I do not think its lawful for them to contact a neighbor, relative or anyone other than MYSELF!! The original lender is from XXXX Corporation and this Pioneer Credit Recovery is a subsidiary of theirs. The total amount owed on this loan isnt anything substantial so why in the world would they make it my neighbors business! The amount left to pay is {$320.00}. Please let me know if theres any other info you might need! Thanks

Consumer Complaint: I tried several times to contact Navient and resolve the issue. It seems as if they want my loan from XX/XX/2003to keep accruing interest. They led my dad to believe he didnt need to pay and enrolled him in the wrong program. They then contacted him a few years later with a ridiculous added amount. After I was able to get his loan connected to my account to pay them monthly, things got better. Then, I called to put the loan back under his bank account ( job loss ) and they still charged my account. After having his bank account information connected to his account, they claimed he failed to pay ( it was set up for auto-pay ) for 4 months and accrued more interest. Finally, after I took over my dads loan to pay it off in total, In the 4th month, they declined it and I was given the run around just because I wanted to pay off this outstanding balance. They claimed my account was invalid when I use XXXX everyday and had the necessary funds.

Consumer Complaint: I had my student loans through Navient and they continuously, over the course of several years, kept offering me forbearance via email whenever I went delinquent. They did not attempt to give me other options. It was not until I started working for a XXXX XXXX XXXX myself that I learned what my options were and acted accordingly. I have transferred my loans to another servicer and am now on an IDR plan so I can make payments I can afford.

Consumer Complaint: Good Day, I started college in XX/XX/1994 and went on to get several degrees afterward at three different schools ( XXXX University, XXXX University of XXXX, and XXXX ). Navient is my servicer and every time I have requested that the payments be lowered because I have XXXX children, a mortgage, a full-time job, and taking care of my unemployed mom, they have always pushed me to forbearance, which increased the amount I owe. As of today, I owe {$170000.00}. I think that is ridiculous, as I have paid that amount and more in loans over the years. I have been able to do little to put a dent in this because Navient is committed to making sure I pay until I am XXXX years old. I require assistance. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: My husband is the co-signer on my daughter 's loans. We pay half of them, she pays the other half. For ten years, we have been fighting with Navient. They consistently misapply the payments. They then send the accounts to their debt collection department, even though they have received the payments. The debt collection people call and harass us, and follow up calls with nasty letters threatening legal action. This happens despite us taking their calls, and most importantly, despite the fact that they have been paid. We have been working with their Office of Consumer Advocacy literally for years on this issue. No resolution has happened. They have been told by my daughter not to call my husband. They do anyhow, and they do so without ever calling her. My husband received five calls this past Monday, and then we got three letters in the mail this week with threats. My daughter was never contacted. They received the payment they were demanding on XX/XX/XXXX, via auto bill pay from our bank. The supervisor I spoke with at Debt Collection, XXXX XXXX, employee ID # XXXX, told me that we have been sending our payment to the wrong account number. The account number we have been using was given to us by Navient. We had been working with a woman XXXX XXXX in the Office of Consumer Advocacy since XXXX. She suddenly disappeared from our case in XX/XX/XXXX, and our case was reassigned to a woman XXXX XXXX, employee ID # XXXX. She did not return calls or emails to my daughter in any kind of timely way, more often than not blowing her off altogether. I called yesterday, XXXX, and got her on the phone. I told her straight out I wanted the case reassigned. She resisted my request x 3. She claimed that because of their automated system, she could not do anything to keep the debt collection dept. from calling us, although she reported that she had gone into the account to reapply the payments correctly after they had yet again been misapplied. However, Ms. XXXX had somehow been able to keep the debt collection dept. from harassing us. She went in every month to fix what billing had done wrong, every month since XXXX. When Ms. XXXX agreed to reassign the case, I insisted on speaking to a supervisor to ensure that reassignment happened. I spoke with a man, XXXX or XXXX, employee ID # XXXX. He assured me that this reassignment would happen. Soon thereafter, my daughter was contacted by XXXX XXXX, who had disappeared from the case. She is now assuming the case again. I have spoken to her. I have changed the account number on my auto pay of this bill at my bank. Ms. XXXX says she is committed to resolving this problem. I have no faith that she can, although I do believe she will work hard to do so. Navient is crooked. I believe they are deliberately misapplying the payments in order to make money on late fees. Fees have been applied and then required removal by Ms. XXXX for years and years. If we were not jumping up and down screaming at Navient, they would have absolutely soaked us for these late fees by now. I suspect they are doing this to other consumers, and this bears looking at. This organization is inept, and/or corrupt. Their business practices are unethical and perhaps illegal. Their staff, for the most part, are either thieves or incredibly stupid. Please help us to get a resolution. We need an actual resolution to this problem. It has gone on for close to ten years, and happens every single month. My daughter has filed a similar complaint with your agency and filed two previous complaints about the same problem with your agency in XXXX, yet this remains unresolved. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2019, I was threatened by Navient with litigation in regards to past due student loans. I had been unable to pay as I became XXXX on XX/XX/2019 up to present day. I have not qualified for XXXX insurance benefits. Navient was informed of this but still said my only option was to enroll in the same rate reduction program that I had been in before in order to drop litigation. My payments were only reduced to {$490.00} monthly, there was no option for forbearance or deferral offered to me, I was only allowed to split the payment biweekly to {$240.00}. A customer service representative and manager spoke to me regarding the loans and told me that by agreeing I would be brought current on my loans after the last XXXX payment. I agreed to the amount and have struggled to make the automatic payments that they required. However, I have still received multiple emails saying that my payments are past due. I called today to report this and I was told -- by supposedly the same representative that enrolled me XXXX -- that my payments would be brought current after XXXX and is still being reported as past due, even though I am current in the program. I'm also still being charged late fees that are not being paid as part of my automatic payments and instead are rolled into the loans ' capitalized interest and principal balance. Please investigate these business practices as they seem to be unfair, unethical, and very restrictive to the borrower. Also, within this program, Navient seems to be making money off of fees as they force borrowers who are struggling to pay to enroll in order to become " current '' on loan payments. The interest increases long term and is capitalized into the principal. In the period between enrolling in this program and becoming " current, '' the borrower must make automatic payments but is still being charged late fees. Please investigate these business practices and please resolve this payment issue with Navient.

Consumer Complaint: I have attempted to reach out to Navient to gather how many payments were made under the graduate repayment plan from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. Due to my loan being transferred to XXXX XXXX XXXX as of XX/XX/XXXX I have been unsuccessful as I no longer have an active loan with Navient. I requesting an accounting of all payments received from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX in order to determine if I may be eligible for the Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Thank you in advance.
