Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I paid 3 different payments on the student loans in question before they showed delinquent, which kept the account current and now has dropped my credit score by XXXX points and will prevent me from obtaining a loan for buying a home as well as I have started classes, so there should be no credit reporting during this time.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I, XXXX XXXX, called Navient to make payment arrangements and I was told that its income base which is fine but the interest was 500- {$600.00} per month. Its no way the lender expected for me to pay high interest and make my payments I'm not rich! Something need to be done about this. More student loans can be paid back if it was a rip off. Something need to be done.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: This particular account situation that is lately filing on my own credit document has a seriously unfavorable relation to my personal ability to obtain a present loan application. I highly recommend you generate verification that Credit Union has been reported completely in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations, it's really a serious problem to misreport. More confirmation of the aforesaid item too. My proper request must over, I was never 30 days/60 days/120 days late in any of my payments and I'm not greatly tuned in to the date opened so I prefer to ask you be investigated as soon as possible and confirmed to be correct. Thanks!

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have a total of 3 different loans currently serviced by Navient. On XX/XX/XXXX, I wrote two ( 2 ) checks made out to Navient for a Stafford Loan ( Unsubsidized ) for {$11000.00} & a Direct Loan ( Unsubsidized ) for {$9900.00}. These sums would have paid the loans off in full. I initiated a XXXX pickup for the checks, which were delivered to Navient 's physical address ( XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX ) and signed for by a XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. These checks were posted the same day. On XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX, I called Navient to inquire why my accounts had not been updated, especially because I accrued additional interest charges. I uploaded copies of both cleared checks and the XXXX Invoice to the Navient website on my account. I was told that both loans were still active because that payment had been processed at the wrong payment center. They had been approved for transfer to my account and it would initiate shortly. However, they stated that because the payment was processed at the wrong facility which was responsible for different account types than the ones I possess that they would be unable to void the interest that had accrued on an account that would otherwise be paid in full.

Issue: Communication tactics

Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls

Consumer Complaint: This company began calling me on XX/XX/2019. At first they left me a couple of messages and since then all they have done is call me repeatedly. The phone calls start as early as XXXX XXXX, no matter the day of the week and as late as XXXX. They have called me sometimes 7 times in one day and I am now getting texts and even XXXX messages from people that I don't even associate with, asking me if I have put their names down as a reference or something because they are also receiving multiple phone calls from this company. One person I haven't had any actual contact with in almost 15 years! This week they have started calling me at my workplace and they call there multiple times a day as well. They have even asked the receptionist personal questions about me. My phone company has tagged them as a " spam risk '' so I don't even know if they are legitimate. I feel as though I need to block the number but that will not stop them from calling my workplace and other people they feel I am in touch with.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I have had 6 of my students loans being serviced by Navient and all was well initially - I had 9 other loans that I have been working over the last 10 months with the Dept of Ed in rehabilitation to get them back on track that were transferred to Navient and all of sudden my monthly payments that we worked to arrange ( that I was making a way to actually be able to pay ) have been jacked up and was told my {$270.00} payment I had with the Dept of Ed was going to be raised to over {$1100.00} in a couple months! Clearly this puts me back in a defaulted state as its unsustainable. I called them and the rep said no expenses are considered - just family size and income, and I was offered forbearance as the only " other '' workable solution. The very thing that all the news stories are about them pushing people into. So the message is loud and clear - the only way to get a payment you can actually afford is to be in default?! I just want to keep making the payments I can afford that I had worked so hard to get arranged. Why is that 'impossible '???

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I paid my Private Student Loan XX/XX/XXXX and was informed by the collection department my paid off letters would be generated and i would receive it in the mail 30days. Never received them and called mid-end of XX/XX/XXXX and was told my letters were mailed out but i never received them. I was informed they will send out a new copy and if not received to call back and have it generated through e-mail. XX/XX/XXXX I called and they indicated no letter was ever generated and it takes 2 billing cycles for my paid off letter to come. Called again XX/XX/XXXX and they were even ruder and not very helpful with my situation. I paid off my Private Student Loans and want my paid off letter and the right answer. All I am getting is the run around. The Loan provider is Navient.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have been on income driven repayment since the late XXXX. I was out of work in XXXX when I had a XXXX and just went back to work in XX/XX/XXXX. Right before XXXX of XXXX, a representative of Navient called about recertifying my IDR plan. At that time she offered to put my loan into deferment as I was trying not to lose my home from the time I was off work. I questioned when my loan will be forgiven as I had been paying for 20 years at that time. She told me that it would be forgiven in XXXX ( I can't recall the month ). I straight up asked if the deferment would in any way change that forgiveness and she told me absolutely not! Now the deferment has ended and I spoke with a Navient representative to begin repaying and they tell me that I have 20 years to go as I have only been on IDR for 14 months with them. My loan was serviced with Salllie Mae prior to Navient. I have never been on anything BUT an income driven plan since I began repayment in XXXX. I'm so done with this. There seems to be no recourse and the agents are so ignorant and rude.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I would like to formally complain about how Navient is handling my student loans. I am very close to contacting lawyers to help me solve my issues as well. Loans in question are 2 private loans. Loan one - I took out on XX/XX/2007 for {$36000.00} I have always paid the amount that they give me as my minimum payment and have even paid OVER a time or two. I have deferred the loan a couple of times but only for a couple of months and at the very most 6 months total in time. I have paid into this loan over {$52000.00} to date. My loan balance as of today is {$41000.00}. I feel this is predatory and my minimum amount due should never be so low that my balance grows even while making payments on time. I have asked multiple times to Navient to lower the interest rate. I signed up for the loan with a rate lower than 6 % and it is now a 9.5 % rate and at times even went to a 10.5 % interest rate. Loan two - Is not as bad. I took this loan of {$12000.00} out on XX/XX/2007 and same as loan one have made the proper payments, may have been late a few times but always caught it up. I am a XXXX so sometimes I don't have money and then others, I have a lot to catch up on things. But I have never been over 2 months late and never have had it deferred for more than 6 months total time. With making the payments that are set by Navient I have paid them {$16000.00} to date and my loan balance today is {$12000.00}. Two Loans were taken out totaling {$48000.00} in 2007, 12 years later and payments totaling over {$68000.00} and my current balance is {$53000.00}!! If this isn't predatory or illegal, I don't know.. This just does not add up. A company just collecting a debt should NEVER put out consumers like this. I can't afford a house and have put off a lot because of these loans only to find out that even paying what they say to pay is actually just making the balance increase?!!
